The medicine to heal Peeta's blood poison was received at the Feast. After that his leg healed mostly. They had to amputate Peeta's leg because of the tourniquet Katniss made with her last arrow after the mutt almost ripped his leg off.
@CorwinFound21 күн бұрын
Yep. And I think it was all exasperated by the extreme cold. They spent an entire night freezing on the top of the cornucopia listening to Cato be slowly eaten by the mutts. They kind of glossed over that horror in the movie.

Katniss not wanting kids at the start is I believe more of a reflection on the state of their world, as in she didn't want to have kids in a world where this would be there future. Her having kids at the end shows how both her and the world have changed and she feels comfortable with the idea now :)

@Passinggbee still begs the question why he didn't seem to be question peeta abuse. Also in the book it looks like peetas day checks in on katniss family instead of like spending time he has left with his son. Maybe he's done it before with the other tribute families but it never says
@Enchant31412 күн бұрын
@@MrEndstageI will say that visitors only get a certain amount of time. It doesn’t matter if the tribute only has 1 visitor or 5 visitors. Everyone gets the same amount of time. So peeta’s dad didn’t sacrifice time with his son to see katniss, he just also saw her. I also have thought that him visiting her and promising to feed prim was strategic on his Dad’s part. Maybe he thought if he did that she would be more willing to help peeta

In the book, Peeta’s leg was not amputated due to the blood poisoning. That was healed after Katniss attended the “Feast” and brought back very strong medication for it. During the climax when Cato, Peeta and Katniss are running from those mutts on the final night and they try to climb the Cornucopia, one of the mutts grabs Peeta by the leg and tries to drag him down. That bite bleeds out all night while Peeta and Katniss are sitting on top of the Cornucopia listening to the mutts slowly gnaw Cato until Katniss finally mercy kills him. That injury is the reason Peeta’s leg is amputated.

I feel like the fact that peeta was also a great wrestler always gets forgotten, not even the companion guide mentions it apparently from what you said. Katniss just brings it up the once, saying the only person who could beat him was one of his older brothers. It is displayed, though off camera or out of view of the reader, in his ability to fight people in the arena, like Cato, and beat them or at least get away alive. Peeta is a lover, but he sure is a fighter too.

you don't know how happy I am that you mention book scenes like "Mr. Mellark bringing Katniss cookies and promising to watch over Prim" to "Peeta and Katniss working on family book, Peeta taking care of Katniss while she's injured in D12, without cameras" and "The day before the 75th ROOFTOP DATE" that honestly; they should be in the movies, and so many video analisys back in mid 2010s used to ignore these because these were cut out from the movies so back then they were deemed "unimportant". AND I LOVE you mentioning Delly (26:00) ps; her parents didn't survive but she and her younger brother did canonically, (he was around 12-13). Fanon speaking most merchants especially older generations didn't survive because of their prejudice againt Seam when seamfolk started screaming to evacuate; while younger generation listened; alternative is the bombs hit the townsquere and the bakery first, while younger generation (in the books, both Townies and Seamfolk) were known to hang out around the Slag Heap and that's the posibility why Delly and her brother survived.
@mlemaire10920 күн бұрын
Peeta didn't convince her to have children. The reason she didn't want them originally was because she didn't want to watch them get reaped for the games. Once the games were over and Panem was changing for the better she finally felt safe/comfortable enough to have kids

Peeta had resources from the Cornucopia, it's possible that he carried some paint with him. Also, when he said "I used to decorate the cakes", maybe he's being modest and humble. His mother is a tyrant so maybe he drew in secret at home. And also he may have drawn the cakes before decorating them, like tattoo artists or designers do.

Idk why I never thought this before, but what if Haymitch actually told Peeta about the rebellion in code when he went to Haymitch in CF & they both played Katniss LOL. Idk why but I have a headcanon that Peeta’s dad passed down what happened around Haymitch’s games to him after the mine explosion that killed Katniss’ dad. So if Peeta went, “listen, I know what happened” & explained to him in code what he was told & then Haymitch was like, “what’s the plan this year?” & Peeta’s like, “tell me what I’m working with - no secrets” LOL then they could have made a very airtight plan very quickly. Hahahahahaha

He didn’t grow up in the seem/seam(however you spell it) at all. I think katniss refers to it as the merchant part of the town (can’t remember the correct translation) But it is definitely in town. She says multiple times in the books that he’s “not seem/seam/whatever”😅
@leila919413 күн бұрын
to be fair Katniss likely only said shes never having kids because of their living circumstances. When Gale says he would like to have children if he wasnt living in Panem. Katniss gets angry at that because to her its unlogical to think like that. So after Panem didnt exist the way it used to anymore and there was Peace it dont think its farfetched she would like to have children

That's not how Peta lost his leg. Katnis did heal his leg in the book. During the battle with cato at the end pita was injured. I don't remember if it was a mutt bite or if cato cut him but either way it happened at the battle at the cornucopia at the end. While Cato spends hours being eaten alive Katnis makes a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. She thinks about how it's probably too tight and might cause him to lose his leg but that it's better than him dying. When they change the rule back to only one tribute being able to win Peta removes the tourniquet so that he can bleed to death when Katnis refuses to kill him. During his speech about how he can't live without her she isn't listening cuz she's coming up with the plan to eat the berries. Katnis doesn't notice he's lost his leg until the interview with Cesar

@imperialraider11587 күн бұрын
The sad part about Peeta’s character is that he isn’t the only one to go through an arc like that throughout the series. Newt (Basically Peeta in TMR) was absolutely in love with Thomas through everything (as far back as the memory swipe would allow) and in the end succumbed to the flare virus causing him to lash out at the one he cared about most. Newt was also a runner for the glade until he broke his leg falling off of the maze wall leaving him with a limp. Are these tropes also in other ya series such as divergent or is it just THG/TMR because if not the overlapping connections are creepily similar.
