Even the youngest classic British parallel twin is at least 35 years old so wear and tear is inevitable. Classic Bike magazine Technical Editor and lifelong British bike fettler Rick P takes a trip to SRM Engineering in Wales to observe a BSA A65 engine strip and to find out how its problems can be resolved.

Love that a proper mechanic always makes his own tools I loved the kick start return spring tool but the cut down screw driver for the clutch basket cover, Nice.

I rescued my mate twice with broken crankshafts on his A65. Devi or SRM work is mandatory.

Love it. Reminds me of learning about Ducati quadrant kickstart gears the hard way. Bump starting in winter Edinburgh etc, But sussed it and got very lucky with Walkers in Norfolk

Ok.. video #1 shows top end disassembled. Video #2... starts at removing the primary drive parts. What about the timing parts. I’m trying to remove the auto advance plate. Manual doesn’t explain a lot
