In the book "The Creature from Jykell Island " Edward Griffin describes the fleecing of these countries, but Alex expands on it. In Griffin's book he explains that the banks only want to interest payments flowing in, they don't ever want loans to be paid back.

Preston is the best and most based bitcoin podcast. While its terrible what has been done to the 3rd world, its also happening to us in western countries in some ways. I live in an intensively farmed area of south west Ontario, and its long bothered me that a lot of farms here only produce 2 or 3 different products or crops. The shrimp in Bangladesh story is actually happening here where some farmers grow only 3 crops and are so reliant on those fiat crops and would have a very hard time to pivot into something more meaningful! Hard to describe in a nutshell, but hearing the shrimp story really resonated with the concerns I've long had with the economy here, especially the food production!

Alex does a phenomenal job of making the case for Bitcoin from a different perspective than NGU. Human rights and self sovereignty in a functional market economy seem like values a lot of both Bitcoiners and people advocating for "goodness" can agree on.

I have never felt so guilty; I am squandering a life built on the blood of so many. A fact I have always known, but only vaguely, as shadows & outlines. This makes it precise; crisp; crystal clear. Somehow, I simultaneously feel inspired. A calling; I am filled with… determination. Is this the elusive purpose I have long sought and never found? A compelling mission rises from within: To orange pill every one of the couple hundred people I have known throughout my life. Thank you for this podcast.

Yelling first is counterintuitive to helping the issue...a critical mass of people knowing and expressing disdain, and a will to change it via adoption of alternatives is the key. I think most people can intuit the corruption here.
@Kaodusanya Жыл бұрын
@@derp.2898 that’s true but I don’t think people in America knowing will ever help anything because it doesn’t affect them directly. All you get are platitudes only thing that really fixes it is bitcoin a sovereign asset that can’t be stolen or manipulated by 1st world countries

To be fair even Fiaters of these developing countries who believe in sovereignty and control of theirown resources have written about what the IMF and World bank have done over the years and the double standards of the West when giving away "aid", this information is not new, i know this because im an African and have spoken to dozens of fiat economists and politicians. Their only problem is that they believe government with centralised policies and centralised money can fix things,which by now know that it can't be achieved... i do appreciate Alex's work though on spending his time researching and sharing this valuable information to the bitcoin community.

A clarifying detail here when Alex says that "academia has a monopoly over research papers". What he really means to say is research papers are pay-walled by the publishing houses (i.e., Elsevier, Springer) and not at all by the academics nor the institutions under which they conduct their research. Academic publishers are arbitrarily gatekeepers of knowledge that generate ridiculous profits precisely because they charge academics to publish work, charge readers for a subscription, and pay none of the costs of the research nor the peer review process. Thus, SciHub was born to wrest control of knowledge from parasitic business practices that hinder the spread of knowledge.

Appreciate the show and Alex bringing this world condition to the new Bitcoiners. Have to say though, at 54 and a background the moved in and out of tge radical’left’ ( Anarchist, anti war folks…) this awareness of the role of the IMF , debt, and tge breaking of the ‘ thirld world countries, was a very common view in these radical circles in the 80’s, 90’s. Interesting! Full circle again! Thanks again for reminding a new wave of awakening peeps to this insidious coercion.🙏

My post-communist country (Czech Republic) kept taking more and more debt the whole decade despite growing economy (!) - the debt was just copying GDP. Now they borrow just to keep the state operating. It's just like the addiction (addictus = slave) of the gambler who will take just one big loan and win the money back to pay everything up this time. I was perplexed why are people okay with being forcefully indebted - and why it's not even discussed in the news. Apparently people just want to keep their comfortable jobs and the party going. It's like pointing on the smoking chimneys of Auschwitz while people conveniently look away... I no longer want to live in EU nor US - the growing pressure on business to be subsidized, regulated... I want to use only BTC or local currency. I knew the state and money was f****d up but I didn't know it's THAT bad.

Yeah, it's actually kind of disturbing to me that this is not old news to most people, but though I've been in on the game for many decades, whenever I would try to talk about it to people, they would basically act as if I were a conspiracy theorist or great big downer ... and not a few would say basically who cares who's suffering, as long as it's not me. So even when discussion of such things wasn't stifled by others and the information was freely available, people often tried to stifle it between each other. It can be pretty unnerving to think what the world is like, and most people don't want uncomfortable truths; they just want to have a nice day.
