Well really glad you're going to be getting better service out of your Dyson. I have noticed several generic adapters to use M18 batteries for other applications. Good video onetoolaweekguy.

Just a quick clarification; the 2nd battery he brings out is still an M18 pack, but it's a *high output* _12Ah_ that uses 21700 cells.

These power tool batteries are 5S, so 18 V nominal (no matter what the marketing says) while the original Dyson is a 6S at 21.6 V. Back-of-the-napkin math says the vacuum cleaner with the power tool battery will deliver over 100 W less... It would be interesting to see a comparison of a brand new Dyson battery vs a brand new power tool battery. Like on actual suction power, not math.

Not a bad thing to be under power, in MAX setting the Dyson gets pretty warm quickly. I also find that the MAX can be a little over powered on the factory battery in some situations.

How about different voltages? Dyson have 6s vs your battery 5s? You feel any power difference?
@jacobhauenstein Жыл бұрын
It is a very slight reduction and you will notice a slow roll off as the pack drains, but not enough to reduce your ability to use the vacuum. CP3.0 is a good m18 to use because of the 21700 cells and small size, preserves the benefit of a small light vacuum. If you put a 12 on it you will feel like you are carrying a battery with a vacuum attached to it.

Hi, I recently purchased this adapter on Amazon and it would not work on Max suction. Sent it back and went with another brand and had the same results. In the Amazon reviews a lot of people have no issues and there are other that have the same issue as me. Any ideas? I have multiple batteries and all end up not work after a few seconds.

If you have it on low setting on then switch to the max setting as it is on. Usually works for me.

There is only one downside to doing this is the m18 packs only charge to 20.8 volts, as where the dyson battery charges to 25.2 volts. U would be better of using a flex battery

It may be the Dyson monitors the voltage of the battery and shuts off when the voltage is low. As these adapters use packs with 1 less cell, the voltage is already close to the cut off threshold of an almost depleted 6 cell pack and when you run it on Max, the 5 cell battery can't supply the correct volatge to the Dyson so the Dyson shuts off. I've spent quite a few hours today looking at options for my dead Dyson battery and am starting to thing these adapters are a very poor choice. I can't believe so may youtubers are showing these devices and not reporting on these issues.

Do you have a dewalt battery to test if this adapter also work for dewalt batteries? It appears to have a notch cut on the top of the battery slot for a dewalt battery locking tab, and some of the V6 dyson adapters are able to use dewalt, milwaukee, bauer, and Hercules batteries all with a single adapter, but I cant find a V8 version that does the same. I know they sell a "dewalt" version, but im looking for an adapter to use both, Thanks!

My Dyson V8 says its 21.6 volts. so is it ok to use a milwaukee 18volt battery in it? Want to get the adapter for it off the "catch" site.
@almbfsek Жыл бұрын
I ahve the same question. I wonder if 18V is goign to cause a problem?
@almbfsek Жыл бұрын
For those of you who wanted an answer, 18V batteries are outputting around 20V when they are completely full and it goes down as battery drains but it stays at 18V level until it is fairly drained and then drops more. Dyson V8 is rated to work with 21.4V nominal but its cut off voltage is around 16.5V according to what i can measure based on my tests which means you can use an 18V batter until its voltage drops to 16.5V. So basically it worka but you do not get the full capacity of the battery.
