@@BK-321 I really appreciate the info in the Rice Squad video. The only thing I didn’t entirely agree with was the part where they talk about conquering the US music industry. While I do think that probably was the thinking of their company, Namjoon has said that Dynamite was considered by the group as a feel good song to help make ARMY feel better during the pandemic and they were surprised by the way it blew up. He also mentioned that there were some reservations by at least some members about whether they should put out the other all English songs, about whether they were loosing their way. Some of that feeling of being lost also came out at the infamous/famous 2022 Festa dinner.

From this particular reaction, I would suggest you watch the full versions of Stay Alive (Jung Kook prod by Suga) the official MV and also V’s Stigma. The great thing about BTS is they always sound amazing live, so I can confidently direct you to the live version straight away rather than having to supply a studio version. An excellent resource for BTS live performances with quality English subtitles is Enjoy BTS More, a channel here on KZbin. They are far superior to most lyric videos in terms of accuracy. Borahae 💜

Since this video is from last year, here is all that has happened with BTS since last year Jin- Jin released his debut solo single album called The Astronaut in October which he worked on with the band Coldplay. Shortly after he performed the song for the first time at Coldplay's tour stop in Argentina. He also appeared on numerous shows to promote the song. He also became the spokesperson for the ramen brand Jin Ramen in November. Jin also hosted a new variety show with famous Korean chef Baek Jong-won. The series is centered on two things: making alcohol and eating food, with special guests and random activities sprinkled in to keep it spicy. Jin’s Traditional Alcohol Journey premiered November 12 on BTS’s KZbin channel. On December 13, 2022 Jin became the first member of BTS to enlist as an active duty soldier to complete his 18 months of mandatory military service and is expected to be discharged in June of 2024. Suga/Agust D- Suga has been taking numerous lessons and became the global brand ambassador for Valentino. He's also hosting a talk show where he provides the food and atmosphere while the guest provides the alcohol. Suchwita airs on their KZbin channel, BangtanTV. Suga also worked on and featured in the song That That by PSY (the man who sang Gangnam Style). And Suga is set to become the first member of BTS to embark on a solo tour starting in April which sold out immediately in the ARMY presale for the US leg of the tour. It's also be speculated he is working on new music, but he's been very quiet about it. J-Hope-J-Hope released his first solo album Jack In the Box last July with 2 music videos for MORE and Arson and became the first Korean artist to headline a major US festival- Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois. He had a feature on the song Rush Hour by Crush and has been to numerous fashion shows. He performed on the MAMA awards and New Years Rockin Eve in New York City. J-Hope also released his documentary called J-Hope In the Box on Disney Plus that shows the making of his album and his performance at Lollapalooza. He also released a new song called "On the Street" with his idol J. Cole on March 3rd and became the global brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton. It was also recently announced that J-Hope has begun the process for military enlistment and will be the 2nd member of BTS to enlist in the military. RM- RM released his debut solo album called Indigo back in December with featured artists such as Anderson .Paak and Erykah Badu and many others along with 2 music videos Wild Flower ft. Youjeen and Still Life featuring Anderson .Paak He also featured on the song Sexy Nukim by Balming Tiger. It's also being speculated RM will be on Pharrell's next album. He performed on NPR's tiny desk concert and Rolling Hall in South Korea for 200 fans. He also hosted the Korean variety show The Dictionary of Useless Human Knowledge where the show’s expert panelists discuss literature, physics, forensics, and astronomy. He also has been visiting numerous art museums and is currently working on new music too. He also helped work on fellow BTS member Jimin's debut solo album which is being released on March 24th. RM is also featuring on So!YoON! new song called Smoke Sprite which will be released on March 14th. Jimin- Jimin has been busy working on his debut solo album called Face which will be released on March 24th along with 2 new music videos called Set Me Free Pt. 2 and the title track Like Crazy (out March 24th) and his album will have a Korean and English version of the song. He will promoting on Korean music shows and will make his solo debut on the Jimmy Fallon show. He's been doing tiktok's covering numerous BTS dances. He was also named the global brand ambassador for Dior and attended their fashion show in Paris, France. Earlier this year he got to work with and feature on the Vibe by Taeyang (a member of the legendary kpop group BigBang). Working with Taeyang is a dream come true for Jimin since he's been a fan of Taeyang's since he was young. Jimin was also named the global brand ambassador for Tiffany and co. V- V has a starring role in a new variety series. Jinny’s Kitchen takes Taehyung and his famous friends to Mexico, where they open up a Korean eatery run by popular actor Lee Seo-jin. It premiered February 24th on Amazon Prime. V also landed on the cover of Vogue Korea in September and is currently working on his solo music. Over the summer, he featured in Disney +’s In the Soop: Friendcation, a variety show that follows a four-day friendcation to a seaside town. V was also named as the new international brand ambassador for 'SimInvest,' an online trading and investment platform. And he will appear on Elle Korea's cover in April 2023. Jungkook- Jungkook featured on Charlie Puth's song Left and Right last year and has also been working on solo music. He sang the song Dreamers for the FIFA World Cup soundtrack and performed in Qatar for the World Cup's Opening Ceremony. And while we didn't see Jungkook a lot after his performance he has recently come back to do his famous record-breaking livestream sessions where he sings numerous songs from not just BTS but other artists as well. BTS announced last June at their annual Festa celebrating their 9th anniversary that they would be taking a break from group activities to focus on their solo endeavors. But BTS decided to continue their variety show Run BTS. In June 2022 BTS released their anthology album called Proof with the title track Yet To Come and performed on Korean music shows for the first time in over 2 years. Proof debuted at number 1 on the billboard 200 chart, their 6th album to do so. In October 2022 BTS performed their last concert as BTS until 2025 in Busan, South Korea in a bid for Busan to host the World Expo in 2030. The Busan concert was also shown in movie theaters worldwide in early February 2023 for a limited time. It was then announced after the concert that BTS would fulfill their mandatory military service after their solo schedules were completed and the group planned to reunite around 2025. BTS earned 3 more Grammy nominations and were named Artist of the Year at the MAMA awards for the 7th year in a row. All the members of BTS now have a friendship tattoo of the number 7 and when all 7's are drawn together it makes the name BTS. BTS also became the first kpop group to have all members chart on the billboard hot 100 as soloists. And according to IFPI BTS anthology album Proof was the 4th best selling album in the world in 2022 and BTS were the 2nd best selling music artists in 2022 only after Taylor Swift, BTS were number 1 for both 2020 and 2021. And recently BTS surpassed 31 billion streams on Spotify, which makes BTS the most streamed group on Spotify of all time.

I remember when my daughter first tried to get me in to BTS back in 2018, I myself was prejudiced against them. Not because they were Korean. No, because they were a 'boy band'. And I could not see past my own USA based cultural bias against 'boy bands'. Then in 2020 I saw Black Swan and then On: Kinetic Manifesto. I was blown away. And now I'm full ARMY, because I eventually realized that BTS was the ONE THING that no other pop artists I've heard are - authentic. BTS, the things they say and sing about - they MEAN it. That is so incredibly rare.

I first found BTS when I was 22 (26 now), and I've continuously tried to get my mom to listen to them or be open-minded to their stuff. She still comments negatively about how they "look like they're 15", or how they look "feminine". Or even making fun of how their language sounds (this one is actually infuriating to me). Even before I discovered BTS, I've always been open to shows/movies from other countries. Different languages have NEVER been an issue for me, and frankly it's disgusting to make fun of others simply because their native tongue sounds different from english. Nothing makes me more angry than those who are prejudice/xenophobic, and aren't willing to learn from it. It's crazy that my 23yo brother is more open-minded than her. Hell, he even agreed to fly with me to LA to see their SoFi concert with me. He was open to listening to all of their songs in the car while we traveled around CA beforehand, and during the concert he genuinely enjoyed himself. In fact, he even commented on how it's the best concert he's ever been to with the lights, the performance quality, and the energy of the people in the venue. I even caught him gushing over it to his girlfriend while the concert was going on lmao. He didn't become a fan, but he was very open-minded and that's appreciated.

I’m the opposite, a ARMY mom with a grown son who doesn’t like BTS. (He is misinformed and biased and oppositionally defiant/ASD. I’m working on him slowly, with little bits of info here and there to break down his biases. 😉) I found BTS through my long time love of KDramas. I randomly watched Hwarang and looked into V (who made me cry with his sweet performance) and I fell headlong down the rabbit hole having never listened to Korean music before (aside from what I heard in drama OSTs) and never before being a rap and hip-hop fan. Now I am hooked and certified card carrying ARMY. Everything they do is just gold. They are musical geniuses. I own their whole discography. Suga’s new album is just stunning art.

Kim is a surname. There are actually 3 Kims in BTS as it´s very common surname in Korea. Namjoon is his name, the second name is the first name. Park Jimin is Jimin, Kim Taehyung is Taehyung etc. Also Namjoon is very much known as RM. Another important thing to mention is that Korean age is different from ours. When Jungkook says he was 15, he was actually 13. In Korea you are already 1 year old when you are born and every 1st January you are one year older. So Tae was born 30th Dec, two days after he was already 2. Jungkook came to Seoul from his hometown Busan, alone, when he was 13 and he debuted when he was 15. When they mention age, it´s always one/two years younger. :D

yes. In fact, Korea does not usually use surnames mainly rather than English speakers' cultures. In Korea, most of the three-syllable surnames and first name combinations are generally used to clearly identify a person. Among close friends, people are usually called by their first names, and only in small-scale workplaces, sometimes they are called by a combination of their surname and position.

I think the thing I said the most early on was WHY IS THIS SO WHOLESOME 😂 They really are seven men who could all have had amazing solo careers, who love each other, music, their fans, and the world. For me, one of the things that really hit was how normal it is for them to be physically affectionate - holding each other, napping together - in ways that American men aren't really allowed to. I always want more examples of affectionate, loving masculinity, and they're men who talk about their feelings, love each other, and aren't afraid to cry. On their variety show they'll betray each other madly and scrap like puppies over a ten dollar gift card. Two of them bicker like an old married couple. They tease each other like brothers, and call each other family. And then at the same time, they show up for each other, offer unending support, and work incredibly hard to be the best performers they can be. They're sincere. They attract people who appreciate sincerity. Okay that's enough, I'm just so excited to share this with you 💜 PS we only say borahae to people we like 😂

You get to know personalities *I learned their voices first (they all sound very different!) and that helped a ton *You'll probably get to a point where you're almost sure but there are two you still mix up. The personalities and love they have for each other, ARMY and the rest of the world is beyond comprehension and when you watch this video you understand why. You are going to have a blast falling down the rabbit hole, their music from early on until now is all incredible. If you didn't know by now, RM (with his IQ of 148-Genius) taught himself English from watching the series FRIENDS!!!!!!! He literally taught himself fluent English from Rachel, Ross and the gang LOL! I think that's why his accent is very "AMERICAN" when you hear it. He released an album last year that is so beautiful, check out Wildflower & Still Life videos and you will see a whole other side of him. Jungkook just sang the World Cup theme too(amazing)! Suga did a song with Psy(Gangdam Style) last year called That That and it is such a fun side of him. Def watch that m/v too lol. J Hope released an album last year and headlined a Lollapaolooza show(no idea how to spell that) in Chicago last year and it is mind blowing. It was a Sunday night and the stadium was packed out and thousands of people were outside too. Can't wait to see more of your reactions to them, I really felt how much you realized they do. Just subscribed! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our 7 insanely talented, funny, kind, humble young men. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an artist who engages more with their fan base than BTS. Even being the global phenomenon that they are now, they still take time out of their busy schedules to make sure to connect with ARMYs through Lives or video messages. A quick note about Jin, the oldest (now enlisted in the military), who jokingly goes by Worldwide Handsome (WWH). Some people hear him referring to himself as that and then think he’s conceited and full of himself, but he’s seriously so humble and kind and respectful and has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen. He loves his members and ARMYs so much. He mostly uses the WWH thing as an icebreaker when he meets new people to make them laugh and to put them at ease. He once said something like, “I’m Worldwide Handsome, but I’m not the most handsome in the world!”

As someone said they lived together for many years, over the years they bought their own appartments for a bit of privacy and family etc… but still stayed at the dorm mostly for convenience. We never got a good look at their dorm, again for privacy. The shots you saw of the different houses ,were when they travelled or during the pandemic they had staycations at home in Korea. It was like ARMY went on holiday with them, the staycations were them relaxing with time off. Well worth watching Bon Voyage 1,2,3,4 and. In the SOOP 1,2 in Korea.

@37:04 so I wanted to clarify some things about this lol. In kpop being a fan is kind of different then in the west. I would consider it more if a club where you have a fan leader or they call manager that coordinates fan chants, concert stuff, etc. in the club you take a test from my understanding to get in (and apparently it is pretty hard) you also pay to be in it. However when you pay you get like monthly or yearly “gifts” and access to early concert tickets. From my understanding (ARMY correct me if I am wrong) but BTS doesn’t or didn’t have like “managers” not really a club either. The organization is everything is done is done by volunteer ARMY that want to do these type of things. Yes BTS does have like an ARMY membership where you get access to concert tickets early before they are released into the public and I think monthly (or yearly) gifts too. Also it is done organically. It isn’t a club though and their isn’t like a main manager(s). Just keep in mind that “staning a group or being a fan” is kind of different then in the west. In the west you don’t have to do anything really besides like their music to be a “loyal fan”. Also note BTS and ARMY doesn’t have a leader/manager. It is just organized volunteer work with each other. Their are many accounts on Twitter that are their for different things like translations, voting reminder, steaming goals, etc. (Even in different country to country bases for thing) but all is VOLUNTEER work. So you don’t pay to be part of ARMY just get a few extra perks for the ARMY membership but that doesn’t make a ARMY or not and never has. ARMY pls correct me if I get any of this wrong. This is my understanding…

I am so glad you took the time to watch this - it does really give an insight into these amazing 7 young men. They are from such different backgrounds but have formed a brotherhood - a family. Until recently, they did all live together and had done for 10 years. They do now live in their own homes. The fact that 7 men managed to live together in a small apartment for years, is amazing in itself. I can’t wait to see where your journey leads you next. There is so much to see. Always know that ARMY will be here to answer any questions. Don’t ever feel bad about doing long reactions or stopping to read and give your thoughts - we don’t mind. Personally, I like to hear your thoughts as you go along especially when the video is this long - the tendency to forget or miss something is great, so pausing and telling us what is on your mind is perfect. Once you get their names you are lost! Or like ARMY says: once you Jim-In you can't Jim-Out 😅 First you see a couple of the official videos, then want to recognize them, then check the lyrics, then want to know the history of their struggle ,finally, you see their attitude towards fans all over the world through their live broadcasts, kind words, cheering everyone and sharing their thoughts and feelings about themselves. And that's how you fall in love with them. With all 7 and with each of 7 personally. You saw the Black swan official, BUT check out their dancing performance at MMA (BTS - Black Swan Performance (@2020 MMA)). This drives me crazy too. The concert in Busan in October 2022 Yet to come was completely amazing, it was even shown in cinemas. Also because they are all preparing now for a military service (Jin has already gone there 🥲and J-Hope is preparing to go soon) all members are doing now solo careers till all of them return back in 2 years. So you should definitely watch the solo Wildflower from RM's album Indigo and Jimin's Set me free pt.2 from his album FACE. Borahae, Saranghae, Love you, Purple you 💜

It's funny you say hustling when you do, that clip is from American Hustle life. Back in 2015 they came to LA to go through a kind of "hip hop boot camp" and learn more about it from people in the industry. It's pretty cringey at some points and some parts make me MAD mad, but I do think they took some good things away from it and it challenged them to push their boundaries on what they think they're capable of, if that makes sense? For this one of their assignments was to promote their free concert at the end of the "boot camp".

They came from additions held all over South Korea they are currently based in Seoul which is where their company is. My daughter has been part of ARMY for about 5 years now and I never wanted to listen to any of their songs. Then 3 years ago she gave birth to our first grandchild. She had listened to them during her pregnancy and when our grandson was born, he was a huge fan straight away. From 6 months on, he would only eat sleep and poop when he was watching BTS, or listening to them in the car. He is 3 and a half now and I became ARMY 3 years ago because of him. I am 56 and proud to be ARMY, I even get my nails done for BTS whenever I go to events. They help me to be strong and kind and respectful, but most important, they keep me young and connected with my daughter. Sending greetings from Australia... Thank you for sharing your BTS journey with us..... Not sure if you know.... Korean people count age differently to others... Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most videos, including this one, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust. In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on 01 Jan every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. .... Year of birth - Actual age at Debut on 13June13 (Year and age became trainee) Jin 1992 - 20 yo (2011 - 18yo) Suga 1993- 20 yo (2011 - 17yo) JHope 1994 - 19 yo (2011 - 17yo) RM 1994 - 18 yo (2010 - 15yo) Jimin 1995 - 17 yo (2012 - 16yo) V 1995 - 17 yo (2011 - 15yo) JK 1997 - 15 yo (2011 - 13yo) (So JK was only 13 when he joined Big Hit and 15 when he debuted. ) Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age. EG: TaeHyung (V) born 30 Dec 1995 ...... current International Age 27 (Korean Age 29). ... 2 years difference So Tae born 30 Dec 95 is 1 year old, then on 01 Jan 96 he is 1 more year older (so they would say he is 2 years old, when we would say he is 2 days old.) So he was considered 29 in Korea since 01 January, we would say he is 27 turning 28 in Dec. It's a different way of looking at age, from new years day - Tae is living his 29th year (since conception) - instead of - he turned 27 (since birth).... The Korean Government is recently bringing international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos will be referencing Korean age. 💜

Yes, I wanted to say that BSH was being straight when he said he didn't lay down rules about the amount of practice etc. I read somewhere that as much as talent he wanted character/personality when he chose trainees. You make too many rules you often distort what you'll see of personalities. Of course if they hadn't been training for 16 to 18 hours a day anyway ... someone might have had a worn 😅. But it's very clear that BSH was always very different from most CEOs in kpop and still is. He said he wanted to break the system. Job done.

Nick, please go at your own pace! The amount of BTS content out there is huge and it can get super overwhelming. Just listen to what you want and in whatever order you want. It's all good anyway 😅 I would say a couple of things more about these guys. First of all, your friend talking about Jin. He has so much of my respect because he literally didn't dance, didn't sing when they picked him of the street and he learned from scratch, and none of it came easy. I'm an ex dancer and I know how much work he had to put in. This guy now has also the most stable voice in BTS and the most emotive. He never stopped improving himself. I find it very inspiring. The other thing I wanted to note is that all of them are massive goofballs and because they don't take themselves seriously, it endeared them to us even more. Anyway, enjoy your journey 💜💜💜

I loved your reaction a lot! I'm 32 and found BTS at a low point in my life. They found me when I needed them the most. I worked myself ill partially due to horrible terms mixed with me not saying no. I couldn't get out of it, but when I came across them I slowly found my way back. Back to myself. I think that's what really strikes me about BTS - their music, their messages and lyrics, but also especially the people they are and how they behave around each other. Somehow they reminded me of who I am to the chore and what matters to me. I have never seen any "celebrity"/public face/persona that I've resonated with so much. They generally don't sugar coat things, but tell it like it is. I respect what they chose to keep privately or wait telling us. You'll find a ton of psychology in their music. But also a lot of really healthy discussions and reflections in my opinion. I love all their work for different reasons. Can't wait for you to discover more about them.

Thank you for being open minded and indulging your curiosity about them. Most people dismiss BTS and ARMY based on pre-concieved and often superficial and baseless perceptions. All it takes is to spend some time and scratch the surface to understand why they connect with people. It doesn't need to be the 40 minute video you watched or doesn't mean they need to like them and be a fan, but anyone who just takes the time to get to know some facts will quickly see their perceptions aren't necessarily correct. That being said, I am sure fans of other groups feel the same way about their idols because they were touched by them in a unique way too. I am ARMY through and through, but for me... being a fan of anyone (be it Korean idols, American artists, not just musicians but athletes, poets, etc) is about finding that thing that connects people. And that's different for everyone, that's why we choose to follow different groups/artists/performers. At the end of the day, that's what our world needs more of right now. Conduits for us to connect with each other so we can understand and support each other. Long way off saying I appreciate your curiosity, effort and how you acknowledge that you don't know all the ins and outs about it all. Looking forward to seeing your journey down the rabbit hole in your reaction videos!

BTS came to me when really needed them, I turned 30 and had kind of a crisis cause I wasn't where I thought I should have been. Now I'm 34 and I'm forever grateful for them💜

Hi there, I hope you're enjoying your dive into BTS 😊. Thank you for giving them a chance to get to know them. I'm 60 years old and BTS helped me get closer to my daughter who introduced me to them and now I can't live without listening to their music whenever I'm lonely, happy or depressed and for every emotion I experience daily, especially the struggles, BTS has been and is always there for me through their music and their funny videos😊.

7:26 yeah they bagan connecting with people pretty much like youtubers and stayed humble and true and always wanted to stay connected with Army like they did in the beginning. So even though they are huge they come on live and talk about their lives and ask how everyone's doing etc for them it's the connection that's important not status, charts and prices and money. They are still so appreciative that we care and get so emotional when they talk about and to army.

I’m playing commentary on my phone while I watch you react on tv. I’m going to try and answer your question as you go. Yes, they had a difficult time in the beginning. They don’t show it in this video, but there’s footage they put out where they talk about how hard they trained and then we’re ignored when they debuted. They were Al teenagers. So, it made them sad. But they came directly to us. It was intimate. More so than getting popular thru a variety show where they’d get to sing maybe one song. And we cheered them. FIGHTING! So, they truly love us as much as we do them. There’s a ton of us who are watching you and love it because you see them for what they truly are. Some reactors…I don’t know…I can tell they like BTS, but they don’t “get” them. You do. It’s hard to find good reactors anymore and a lot of them do it just to capitalize off of it. We know who’s genuine. And word again and more and more ARMY will come along and gleefully educate you in a sincere, respectful manner because we can see you respect them. (Also, my facts on some things may be a little off, but some other ARMY will politely correct me, lol!)

So nice to meet you Nick. This is how you fall in love with all seven members for all the right reasons, no matter what age or what gender you are. They formed a perfect support systom, a brotherhood, a bond, and against all odds brought us joy. Their talents are their gift to ARMY. You have a lot to look forward to

BTS was actually formed around RM as BangPD, the CEO, discovered him when he was an underground rapper! Then BangPD held auditions so that he could form a group to debut RM. BTS was originally supposed to be a hip hop group of rappers. That's why the rappers are the first members to join! Till this day, the rapline have written and produced most of BTS's discography, with RM having 210 copyrights(second highest number in Korean history), Suga 140 and J Hope 130. The vocal line each have around 20. People in the industry praise RM's talent as an executive producer, Suga is an amazing award-winning producer and JHope has also produced some iconic BTS songs. The rapline truly is the backbone of BTS ! The rapline has each produced solo albums or mixtapes and some of their most wonderful songs are: RM: Wildflower, Still Life (feat Anderson Paak), Change(feat Wale), Moonchild, Do You Suga: Daechwita, AgustD, The Last, Shadow JHope: More, Arson, Ego, Airplane, On the Street(feat JCole) The vocal line is also absolutely amazing! They each have unique voices and can SING! Some of their solo songs are: Jin: Astronaut, Epiphany, Yours, Moon Jimin: Set me free 2, Lie, Serendipity, Filter V: Singularity, Winter Bear, Christmas Tree Jungkook: Euphoria, Stay Alive), Left & right (feat Charlie Puth), Dreamers (World Cup song)

Thank you for watching Taylor's guide! I know it's long, but it gives a basic understanding about BTS and why Army is so passionate about them. That 2019 Army charity breakdown is from just one charity group though. There are many more, and lots of Army (me included) work on their own for their local charities. I'm 60+ yr old and from Texas, Army since 2013.
