This song came out in 2018 and was written during a time when BTS was really struggling and were even considering disbanding due to being physically and mentally exhausted at the time, but luckily they were able to work it out and stay together. We as fans didn't even know this when the song came out. If you watch their acceptance speech for Artist of the Year at the 2018 MAMA awards they were all super emotional and that's when it was revealed by Jin for the first time that they almost disbanded earlier that year. Suga said all the members cried when they first heard this song. In the song they say both tear as in crying and tear- as in being ripped apart.

@@ALMIGHTYBEASTMODE Just to follow up on what I wrote BTS were working nonstop at the time and barely had any time off and it was just becoming too much for them to handle. V even said during that time he asked to have the day off and was told no because the practice that day was very important so he started to have thoughts about hurting himself on purpose so that he could get time off, luckily he never followed through with that thought. Plus at this point BTS pretty much achieved everything they wanted to achieve and more and really thought there wasn't a lot more they could accomplish as a group since all their dreams had come true. Love Yourself: Tear is truly a great album, probably my favorite BTS album, it just makes me sad that such a great album came from a lot of pain and struggle. But I'm so happy things got better for them.

Love yourself:tear is an amazing album seemingly filled with amazing musical contradictions Overall The theme of masks and unmasking your true self predominate Sadness about wearing an emotional Mask, the fear that revealing true identity will result in loss, but also the love and transformation of an”magic shop” By 2017 they had been working for years without more than a few days off Here and there… the glaring fame came with racist commentary internationally and continued hate from other fandoms in Korea… To quote BTS So much pain Too much crying The acceptance Speech mentioned is worth Watching …. 💜💜💜

I believe this song was written by Suga when all the members were struggling (physically and mentally) drained after reaching such high goals that they considered disbanding. Thanks goodness they were able to overcome those struggles and decided to stay together. BORAHAE

I firmly believe this song helped the members decide the pain of breaking up as a group wasnt worth it and to stay together. Suga had them all in tears with just the intitial lyrics/song guide. All 3 rappers really put everything into the live perfomrances. Plus a word of thanks for the custom Dior outfits, Jhopes especially. Each of the three show a different side of grief. RM is Tear like a crying, Suga is Tear like tearing something ripping it up and Jhope is Fear of it all ending. So its all 3!

The Rapline is playing with the prononciation of the word ''tear'' as your tears when you cry and ''tear'' the splitting or pulling apart of something like them breaking up. Having to endure constant critics, death treats, injustice, sabotage and also having to work harder than anybody else just to prove their talents? BTS was worn out mentally and physically after working non stop without breaks. So it took a toll on them and some members wanted to stop. So they wrote this song to express everything they wanted to say and what they were feeling. You are my tear (you make me sad so I'm crying) your are my tear (pulling my heart apart, breaking our group and promises we made to each others so I'm still crying), you are my fear (cause their biggest fear was the breaking of BTS, the end of their dreams and all the sacrifices they made going to waste. What else can I say. One of the most beautifull and imagery playword from RM. Most heartbreak verse from Suga and most despair ending from Hobi. Tear is a masterpiece.Written for the members.The maknae line sob so much when they heard it for the first time and then they all cry. Thank God they pull through.

They are using both the meaning of tear (crying) and tear (tear apart). They were contemplating breaking up. And, in that, there was the tearing apart and the pain, the tears.

This song seems like a break up between a couple but it was written for BTS who were completely burned out, exhausted from no time off, getting injuries and considering and talking together about disbanding. They are so close and lived all together so talking about breaking up was ripping them apart. It was a double tear and also tear it was both.

Truth is everyone thought it was about a Romantic relationship we ARMY didn't find out the truth until later. In the later part of 2017 early 2018 the boys talked about Disbanding because they were all worn out both mentally, emotionally and physically. Suga and RM went off both wrote about what that would mean to them if they disbanded. When they let the rest of BTS member hear what they felt it cause them to shed tears and vow they wouldn't disband after all it wasn't want they really wanted any way they just needed some rest.

One of my all time faves! Thanks for watching. Suga does get sooo real. You are right. Yeah, they considered disbanding and each rapper was affected differently and came at from a different perspective. So in the song RM sings about the sadness "Tear" but for Suga it was like being ripped apart "Tear" and JHOPE it was a "Fear." It is so well written and goes so hard. I love this so much.

As soon as I heard this rap, I knew what it was about and cried! BTS took off one month to rest and re-group and we are glad they stuck together! They are now closer than ever and they call each brothers and will be together for a long time and rest of their lives 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

RM covers = TEAR 😥 SUGA covers = TEAR 💔 and J-HOPE covers = FEAR I think the acceptance speech in 2018 for ARTIST of the YEAR explains it all. I'll link it for you with the subtitles. It's not very long, but it was an important moment that ARMY's all remember. I noticed how RM was trying to hold it together and make sure all the BTS members were okay.
