Yes he used to have two sugar gliders there like mini flying squirrels but hamster size. Such a touching song. He explained when his mother called him that night when one of them passed on in a flying accident but the second one I guess died because he missed his tiny friend.

Loved your reaction. I really like how you explained what was happening with the production. Jin has a beautiful falsetto and his belting is top tier. I also like his mid-range too. Just all-around amazing. He joined BTS in 2011 and had zero experience in singing and dancing. Tonight was released for FESTA in 2019 so this was 8 years after he joined BTS. Jin is an inspiration for everyone about how hard work really does pay off. Jin was recently in LA and had a gaming livestream in his hotel that had more viewership than the Emmys lol it was the longest live ever but so worth it. Jin is so relatable. I love it 🤣

I wanted to comment in full earlier but better late than never. I absolutely adored this, I know very little of what goes into recording a song, but I always enjoy watching the process. Jin was pretty green when he started his career but I'll be honest, he wasn't the only one. Its not uncommon to be scouted nd thrown into the music industry in that enviroment even without prior knowledge of singing/dancing. They got really lucky with Jin because he's a hardworker, you dont get a voice like that out of just hard work though, I feel like he just wasnt aware of how good his voice could be because he never tried. Terms like 'bpm' and hearing you explain how close you typically get to a microphone, they may seem like obvious things to understand or know but it's really cool for someone who isn't a performer or singer or even composer to get behind the scenes explanations on these things. This isn't Jins first solo song (Awake was his first solo) but it was his first solo 'composed' song, so this would be 7-8 years after he started singing, which was back in 2011. Believe me I dont think many people can do any process like that in just one day so this was cool to see, even it was cut down for time since it is a 'bts bomb'. The rappers of the group are producers so its cool to see Jin as a vocalist do his thing one day, and then a producer do their thing the next day, theyre very hands on with their work. I also love when you said Jin has pitch to his voice, I always liked how he did that but never put words to it, lovely description. And there's little difference from his voice here to the actual song, I think there's just an added lightness when the music is added on. Jin sang in different keys because he likes to do that, having his voice overlay on top his voice in a different octave, he did the same for the ost "Yours" where he has a deep voice, and then a much higher voice as if he's singing a duet with himself. Also I believe in this setting Jin wasn't singing in a studio but in a hotel room as they were in the middle of tour??? Someone fact check me please lol. Btw I love that you mentioned the emotional aspect, its like we know its painful sometimes but we still get that high from it- especially for an artist I feel like thats something that can be so , as you said, therepuatic. The band defintely likes getting into their emotions, as far back as 2013 they werent afraid to share their tears and highs and lows. Thats why this song is also so beautiful to watch the process for, even if its sad. I believe Jin got two new buddies but his sugarglider pets passed away, one of them had a bad fall. I also saw in another comment someone mentioned Jjangu, his sweetheart, died years before. I think the timeline was Jjangu was lost before the band was set to perform at an award show in 2017. Odeng (his sugarglider) was born in 2017, and then Jin got him a companion in 2018. And in 2019 Odeng passed away too due to a fall, and not long after is when Jin composed 'Tonight'. We all know the pain of losing someone, especially a pet, so the emotions were raw here. Its precious when they can share their emotions with fans, so I love that you can relate to that feeling and are so open with your music as well. Anyways I've talked too much, thank you for your reaction, cant wait for more!

Thats not really true, a lot of people appreciate Jins songs, he's always had supporters, and even in the past few weeks vocal coaches and singers have been reacting to him or noticing his voice.

Yay! You posted! I'm so ready to get into this video. Tonight is one of my favorite songs not just by jin but for bts in general, it may be a short bts bomb but its a very meaningful process to see. I also love the bts bts quip in your description, and you look very nice and sophisticated by the way, loving the fashion! Also is the news you're seeing about jin concerning his trip to the US? Or the hiatus? I hope its not the military issue, thats a sensitive topic lol. Anyway, on to the video, I'm excited for your perspective as a professional!

They originally recorded this song in the studio. Here he is in a hotel room to tweak and perfect it when they were on tour. Jin is now in the Korean army and will be out June 2024.

Just to add that Supreme Boi who had a part in Cypher 3 and 4 is also a BTS Producer too. Who has helped produce many of the rap line songs as well as being a rapper himself. Fun fact he was 1 of the original member of BTS but chose not to debute with them but still wanted to work beside them sorta like what Suga had in mind for himself.

03:07 I'm not sure if I understood your interpretation correctly, but he's saying he should leave it to the producers - that he isn't the expert. He isn't frustrated that someone else might have messed with it. I think there are some cultural and Jin things going on with this little interaction - polite deference to elders/those with seniority, and an excess of humility. I don't want to say it's self-doubt, though all the members have imposter syndrome quite a lot.

I believe he said that because Jin had already recorded his voice and then when he came in he noticed the bpm was too slow. He requested for them to increase it but Pdogg, if I recognize that voice right, was saying that it was the same as before. After Jin got up and said what he said, then the producer changed his tune and said let's increase it, so it looks like they did change something, and only after they fixed it did Jin start singing.

@@opaquea2448 That was my read on it, too - A kind of respectful conversational dance to work together smoothly. I'm having a hard time finding the words, though. I only said something because I realized Jin's words, saying something like 'leave it to the experts', could be misinterpreted as him being a primadonna and saying *he* was the expert and someone inferior had touched his stuff. There are definitely people who act like that. No one in BTS would, thank goodness! One of hundreds of reasons we love them.

When Pdogg said, "you must have practiced" in a slightly teasing, but ultimately complimentary way because he sounded good? and all these Jin solos went fricking berserk and sent him threats in his Instagram DMs and demanded he be fired because he was being "disrespectful" and implying that Jin doesn't work hard enough or is usually sub par. OMG it was like - tell me you're delusional without telling me you're delusional. Good times. 😑

@@flyushkifly It's only people who make mountains out of mole hills who would take the expert comment as a primadonna move, especially considering bts are such humble but talented people, Jin included. As for the My Universe thing, I don't entertain solos but if someone sent him death threats then hopefully they were dealt with. People like them aren't true fans, and everyone knows no one sees Jins vocals as subpar in their circle so that's weird. I feel like it will bring people peace if they just block the trolls.

It is only when something makes it to trending that I see it. So sad that those people need psychological help, and instead they are getting tens of thousands of likes.
