We had days to save them while Sewel was sinking, the most sad part is that all of citizens here in Korea couldn't help but literally only just watching it on the tv through the whole time until it ended up drowning hopelessly, couldn't believe/understand what was happening and what we have just faced woefully since this was way too far, far beyond from everything we have been believed in, learned and expected in the society.

I came here from watching videos recorded by the victims while they’re in the ferry.. They keep saying that the ferry is sinking and one of the students keep asking about his missing shoes to his friends... I think that’s why Jimin is holding that pair of shoes 😭 also that scene where Jin is looking up while doing the rectangular shape with his fingers as if he’s capturing the moment is just like how these young students are recording before they died... and all the camera tilting scenes reminds me of how the ferry tilted in those videos making the students scared for their lives..

But I think there are even more scenes that contribute to the theme, like the imagery of the washing machines could be symbolic of the windows on the ferry, and Jin (who symbolises the deceased students) are in the centre of one of the washing machines staring into the camera. This reminded me of the students who were trying to get the attention of the rescue boats by banging on the windows and then seconds later you see the window submerged in the water. Horrifying. And then a scene where Namjoon is standing alone in the passage of the train (it does look similar to those on boats/ferries) and its a dark blue/grey scene and the camera tilts to the right. When I saw scene again I got sick to my stomach, it feels like a very obvious reference. This video is clearly about Sewol and.. I'm ashamed to admit this, but in all honesty if it wasn't for Spring Day I don't think I would have ever known about the Sewol Ferry tragedy. I was going through a difficult time myself, but I don't understand how I never heard of this before. So well done BTS for creating awareness and commemorating this.

It is an emotional song that is great to listen to when you miss ppl including the sewol ferry victims of course but I am not the only ARMY that knows the REAL story behind the song. I know ALOT about BTS that the GENERAL public doesn't know about thanks to different BTS shows, ARMYs, Bang pd-nim and Billboard etc. So no I am FAR from ignorant. There are many things I can say that would make you say WOW. R.I.P to everyone who lost their lives. Stop saying that it has to do with the Sewol Ferry cause no BTS writes their songs from experiences that they had and their goal is to open up people's minds to problems in society etc. The song makes me cry because I know who they are missing. ARMYs even tease her on social media about the boys loving her and thanking her for being one of their biggest drives. Her name is Victoria, she has beautiful grey eyes and her Twitter and IG are @Vikdidthat

THIS IS AMAZING. Adding on to your theory, the ending clip of the shoes hanging on the tree had petals floating through the sky. They are tinted pink and closely resembled cherry blossoms. In an interview, one survivor said that she thinks of her friends whenever she sees cherry blossoms because it was spring time when the tragedy occurred. Bits and pieces fall together. Well done.

I always wondered what the fuss was about this song....but after understanding the meaning. I cried ...cried for hours 😭😭. I myself have been through a similar tragedy . 8 years back I survived a boat accident where 30 people died that day. I still remember some of the bodies that were lying next to me on the rescue boat and i was just 12 years old, never understood what happened and I didn't even cry a bit ,I just felt empty, emotionless. Now 8 years later trying to find explanation of a MV, this made me realise that I shouldn't forget the tragedy but remember everyone that died that day. To keep them alive in our memories and hearts. This February 9th it's going to be the 9th anniversary of that accident and I am gonna pray for their peace.

This was incredibly well put together. As a Korean national living overseas, Sewol tragedy was the most heartbreaking and painful thing I have ever experienced in my life, I still shed tears just thinking about it. The victims and survivors were not treated with respect through so many rumors and politics, the blame game, the inconsiderate media coverage...it was just a mess and I was very ashamed of how the government failed to protect and comfort its people though the tough times. Though some did, not many celebrities or public figures in Korea had the courage to speak up on the wrongdoings and support the victims of the tragedy because those who did were somehow politically framed to be an anti-government or left wing supporters. I am very happy and relieved that BTS made a tribute to the victims, it seems clear to me that this is the correct interpretation and not just a theory.

The Ferry incident was heartbreaking and the fact that BTS made a Music Video dedicated to it warmed my heart. I have major respect for BTS and Red Velvet now. This incident shouldn't have happened. The students had so much to live for, and didn't deserve to die. It was all the selfish captain's fault. Nobody had to die, there was plenty of time to get everyone out of the ferry safely and just so many things were undecided and wrong. Hi, bulletproof vibes. Thank you for your insightful explanation on this song, ‘Spring Day’. I’m leaving this comment to ask you if I can translate your explanation into Korean one. My name is Joanna Kim and I’m a video & movie translator in Korea. I think it would be a great comfort for the bereaved families of Sewol Ferry victims as well as the survivors of the tragedy. Since your explanation is written in English, I assume that they might not have watched your video. Or there is a possibility that they might not have appreciated it fully even if they had already viewed it. Actually, I wasn’t a big fan of BTS before because I don’t enjoy idol music or songs much. But, watching this video with your explanation, I couldn’t help myself loving the boys who have such beautiful hearts and souls. And I think many (older) people like me should watch the video you made. Your video with the Korean version will be a great gift and blessing for those who don’t know or understand the love, spirits, and souls of BTS yet. Thank you. Looking forward to good news from you……

The MV explanation only covers the very surface details of this horrific tragedy unfortunately and not the full truth and the incredibly cruel events that had happened and I really wish more people would read or watch videos about the full story like Rotten Mango's video about the Jewol Ferry Incident to learn about what had actually happened and how cruel and horrifying it actually was. More people need to be aware of this incident and far too many people only know about the basics of this tragedy by watching short videos like the Spring Day explanation and that is a shame. This wasn't just a freak accident, it was an incredibly monstrous series of intentional events that had lead to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people that had lost their lives way too soon.

When I first heard Spring Day, I felt the emotion though I still didn't know what the meaning of the song was. "bogoshipda" is what I only understood. When I watched the MV, I didn't cry. I became emotional when I knew of the lyrics, what they mean. I saw theories of why they created the song, what it is about, I wanted to believe them but then again, Bangtan didn't confirm anything. And whenever I listen to it, I always cry. Sometimes I don't, I just close my eyes and feel the emotion Bangtan successfully conveyed in the song. And now. Now that they have confirmed that this song is a tribute for the Sewol Ferry tragedy that others back then firmly won't believe in, I cried my eyes out. This is the first time I watched this video, the thorough explanation of every scene got to me. How Bangtan also feels about the tragedy that they managed to create a song about longing. I just... Spring Day is a one of a kind song in this century. I can't not cry now when I listen to it.

This is where I realize deeply that the 7 boys I've fallen head over heels in love with are the most genuine and kind hearted people God has ever made.

I'm fairly new as an Army. This was my first time watching the original MV and your explanation vid after. I have to say, I was already an emotional wreck from the original.... but then I watched this gem. Needless to say, I was already bawling the first few minutes of your vid. The amount of time and work you put into it is very clear and I'm sure I'm not the first one to say ...THANK YOU. This was wonderful. With every performance, MV, moment, one just can't help but fall deeper in love and admiration for these 7 (now) men. They represent everything that the entertainment industry SHOULD BE. It's amazing that in the almost decade that they have been active in the industry, not a single member has been swept up in scandals or tied to anyone that has a bad reputation. BTS is an inspiration. Thank you for capturing a part of that with your video.

spring day is really a song for youth who need hopes, going through life and to believe that the better days is 'waiting' for them (i always remember jk's part "because no darkness nor seasons will last forever" and jm's part "this winter is end too") but at the same time, i also feel this is for sewol's victim (ive noticed it when i saw yellow ribbon at the mv). Fighting for victim's justice, sarcasm for goverment, survivor's representation in present, giving them hopes for survivors and victim's family. it all make sense after i saw this and i can't help but to cry. every kpop stans (esp before 2014) must remember this tragedy. i remember kpop industry paused every single activity for 6-7 weeks and around that time, i always checking sewol's victim and survivor update (even still hoping for survivor after 4-5 weeks) 😢😢 time flies way too fast, i still cant believe the tragedy happened 3 years ago and the sewol ferry had been lifted from the sea, bc this tragedy always gives me feeling like it was happened yesterday or several months ago😢😢 i got goosebumps when i know the victims are mostly in my age, it makes me feel guilty too for still alive and someimes not being grateful for what God gives to me. that's why i love bangtan so much, they're somehow reminding me to always being grateful of my life and what God gives to me :"")) anyway, now i understand the meaning of "눈꽃이 떨어져요" thanks to you :")

I even tried not to cry while the video keeps going and going but I can't stop my tears for falling down. Making this song and producing this MV just shows us how incredible BTS and their producers are. I am so amaze on how they convey the tragedy in a song with full of symbolisms and figures in the MV. REST IN PEACE ANGELS. YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN❤️

This was so heart-touching. I thought the song was just about winter going away and spring coming. I cried because of this. Thank you for clearing everything up. You're clearly a person I can trust.

I remember when Wings was dropped in 2016....the emotions every single song from the album evoked. I was not alone in feeling that, the world felt it too. It's what propelled BTS to global fame. That feeling is what led me to become an Army by the end of 2016. I know BTS will continue to make legendary songs and albums. But to me, nothing will ever surpass Wings and the way it made me feel!

The BTS Spring Day music video is indeed a work of art. Teaching us to not tolerate oppression. I really admired them.
