i got this comment from someone on another video but i feel that they explain the bleep at the doctor part better than i could but " References: 1. The beep is supposed to censor the question psychiatrists typically ask their patients: have you self-harmed or attempted suicide? This subject is taboo in Korea and has ruined careers by bringing it up.2. The concert is an incident at Kobe were Suga was unable to perform and allegedly had a serious panic attack. During one of his "vacations" he went back to it to sort out the guilt he had for not performing 4."Those days when I tried to sleep on the toilet floor" - a lot of people have suggested that it's his more poetic way of referring to when he tried to kill himself (sleep; see [1] as to why he wouldn't say this outright)3. Show Me the Money is basically a reality TV show where people like Suga, RM, and J-Hope would go to seek out validation from the K-Hiphop community through staged rap battles. People give them shit for not going on it and thus not being "true rappers." Suga's point is that he doesn't need their fucking validation because doesn't give a shit about their idea of what a true rapper is. He's too busy being successful to give a damn. What makes this song so important is that in South Korea, mental illness is unfortunately stigmized a lot, (with you know, a few of the highest rate of teenage suicides in the world) so this is really important to not only people who suffer illiness, but also spreading awareness of illiness and giving hope to people. Suga has lived an especially difficult life, so I’m glad to see he’s trying to give that hope to other people"" ( cr to sara smith)

SugaKookie 65 well that's why he said "when I tried to sleep on the bathroom floor" which, as stated above, is seen as he attempted suicide,,
@iridescentdemon6 жыл бұрын
yes, I would also like to add with #4, muish (a popular translator who discusses BTS lyrics and their deeper meaning) said they don't think that "sleeping on the bathroom floor" meant attempting suicide. They said Yoongi once was so poor he had to live with like 12(?) other people at the same time in a small apartment, so he had to literally sleep in the bathroom because there was no room. So in those lines he's saying he had to suffer to get where he is and it's just a memory now. Being dirt poor was part of that suffering he's mentioning
@lgrsydney31246 жыл бұрын
my understanding is that 'going to sleep on the bathroom floor' is a euphemism for suicide and as for Korean suicide rates, it isn't just teen suicide, it's all suicides across age ranges. Largely because mental health isn't really viewed as a health issue, which, as is being pointed out, makes it even more crucial that people speak out.
@cathy_cat23146 жыл бұрын
Um that #2 is completely wrong. He didn't have a panic attack or amything. And he didn't even refer to that incident in this song. Anyway they had been overworking a lot during the HYYH Pt. 2 promotions and as a result Tae and Yoongi fell sick on the day of the concert. Only the 5 members went to the stage and the concert ended early, and they cancelled the rest of the dates in Japan. It wasn't because he had a panic attack. After that they ended the promotions and the members were given rest period. It was then that Yoongi decided to visit the venue in Kobe because he was upset with himself for everything, and he blamed himself. So I guess visiting it was some sort of redemption for him. Idk where you got that info from, but please don't spread such false info without being 100% sure. It was a really painful and sad period for the fandom and the boys during that time, so to see false info about it is a little disappointing.
@taetae17706 жыл бұрын
A_Cat yes youre right. Yoongi even wrote on fan cafe about why he went back to Kobe. He was really blaming himself. My heart broke reading his letter to us 😭.

What he tried to say “If the target of your loathing (dislike) is me then I’ll go up to the guillotine” Also, Min Yoongi is his real name. Like in the past when EMINEM had different personalities or characters to express himself in the music, well he does the same. Min Yoongi: Someone whose struggles no one knows, because no one has met him before. Agust D: The solo rapper whose a rebel against the industry (that’s why all his mixtape as a solo artist is ‘explicit’) Suga: The one everyone knows because they have seen him perform and in his daily live. Hope this helps! He’s a really complex member of BTS, but at the same time he’s really talented and awesome.

((this is lengthy, but here's some notes)) - *min yoongi* is his real name. - the *beep* represented the doctor asking him if he'd ever *attempted/considered self harm or suicide* / he said unhesitatingly that he'd been like that before. - him mentioning how he "tried sleeping on the bathroom floor" references trying to commit suicide as well. - the "day of that concert" he wants to erase alludes back to a time he had a severe panic attack (due to all the people and his social phobia) and couldn't perform. - *show me the money* is a korean rap survival show. rappers usually go on there to try to prove that they actually have talent, but yoongi basically said "fuck that, i know i'm good, i don't need some fake ass rappers telling me what hip hop is" - ^ i'd like to point out that idol members who rap get shit on A LOT in the k-hip hop industry. there's a very specific difference between being an idol who does rap, and being an "idol rapper". idol rappers are the "rappers" in kpop groups who only rap because they can't sing/dance particularly well so their company gives them the rapper title. basically, idol rappers are people who don't really have an interest in rap or hip hop, but only do it because they're told to. yoongi (or rm or jhope) are obviously NOT idol rappers. underground rappers tend to be assholes and categorize EVERY idol who raps as one of these (honestly, it's more or less them being petty that someone is getting more spotlight than them lmao), but this generalization is VERY WRONG. *not every idol who raps = an idol rapper* - issues such as mental health are seen as taboo in korea, so yoongi's actually brave as hell for talking about it and opening up about his experiences with it. - he said the line about how "ya'll just act like you've suffered" because a lot of the times in k-hip hop, rappers will act hard and pretend like they've had a rough upbringing when they actually haven't just to have some kind of "street cred". yoongi started underground, with a family who didn't believe in or support him (they do now), used to have to have to scrape up money to survive and would sometimes literally have to chose between buying something to eat and a bus ticket, couldn't sell his cd's without getting ripped off, couldn't focus on studying, worked a job he hated and also resulted in an accident where he crushed his shoulder, had people/other rappers constantly talking down to him, all while suffering from social phobia, anxiety, depression, and mild ocd. he hated himself, and it really took all he had to get where he is now, which is why he's always so damn proud of himself and where he came from. - sORRY I KNOW I'M GOIN OFF BUT I JUST REALLY LOVE HIM OKAY he deserves all the love and respect and success that comes his way

@Sydney-om5os6 жыл бұрын
LR his lyrics imply that the doctor asked if he tried to kill himself/self harm. He practically says so in the line at about 7:03 where he says he tried to sleep on the bathroom floor which is a metaphor for attempted suicide...
@k__oo-m1g6 жыл бұрын
Yes the topic is a bit taboo in South Korea which is probably why he didn’t want to explicitly mention it
@silvanavogel82736 жыл бұрын
Looking at the lyrics: Yoongi used a special type of grammer which Koreans use for asking "have you ever done something before". that is why the deep voice after the beep can be heard. The doctor asks have you ever (bleep for the something/ what is it?) done/thought about (the verb is bleeped out too, it can be any verb, but the situation suggests either of those) before. Knowing Korean Culture ( I have studied Korean Studies for over 3 years, lived in Korea for over 1 year and speak korean fluently) one can assume the "something" is attempted suicide or thoughts of suicide or selfharm) BUT from the lyrics only one cannot defenitely know what the question was about.

Show me the money is a SK tv show where rappers , I think specially Kpop rappers go there to " prove" themselves that they are real rappers ,idk I don't really watch the show but it's like a mix of rappers in the hip hop scene , unknown rappers and rappers in the Kpop scene trying to prove their worth ??? Like they battle it out from rookies to experienced rappers and see who is the winner . Someone please correct me but basically yoongi refused to go in the show because he doesn't feel like he needs to prove his raps skills to anyone ( someone please correct me if I am wrong I am not sure if this is 100% correct)

yes that's right. but SMTM while started out as a show to give equal grounds for rappers to prove themselves, had quite a lot of controversies throughout the seasons since big label idol rappers went further in the show than most would've put them, so there were a lot of accusations that big labels still pulled strings. back in the day when yoongi must have been also in the talks these controversies were big talks so that could've been another reason why he wouldn't wanted anything to do there, since bighit wasn't a big label back then. but i also think that the biggest reason why he refused to go there was what you said, that he didn't have to prove anyone anything on a show just because said show was trendy. a few yge rappers went there to prove themselves and then it became like a thing that idol rappers could go there to prove shit, but that was so stupid. a show that could be easily manipulated in various ways isn't weight to anyone's worth. i'm glad yoongi never went but instead proved himself throughout his mixtapes and producing works and his group. i think that's more legit than hopping on SMTM.
@mariacabrita83696 жыл бұрын
dee interesting ...thanks for the info !
@Sharkraij6 жыл бұрын
This show is not just idols rappers or hip-hop but both or like everyone can go on SMTM except if you're like too known, basically underground rappers go on it to get fame (Hangzoo, BewhY etc), there are sometimes long time rappers who have been forgotten who go on it to re-get famous like Digiri or Onesun (From the 90s), or basically anyone so lots of unknown rappers made themselves known like Woo Wonjae or Yuk Jidam who weren't even active underground but unknown, it's mainly a hip-hop show but as it's opened to anyone some idols go on it because they want to show and prove their skills like Mino, Bobby or Jooheon did and many others (If you see the show it starts like with something like 12 000 appliants, or less or more, depends on the season) // Also yeah, like an answer above SMTM may be a way to get extremely popular like BewhY or Woo Wonjae and many others rappers who joined the show, it's controversial for many reasons, lots of rappers criticize how they 'use hip-hop' too

I really love this song. Min Yoongi (Suga) went through a lot to get to where he is. He struggled and had identity issues due to the fact that he’s considered an “idol” even though he started as a rapper. He got shit from other rappers because of that, they told him he took the easy way and that he’s not a real rapper. BTS did NOT have it the easy way. They suffered a lot together. Suga proved them all (the people who didn’t believe in him and his brothers) wrong and he has finally accepted himself as both an idol and a rapper. He loves making music and growing stronger with his brothers from BTS and he’s no longer depressed. Much love to Min Yoongi and BTS ♥️

@ayyylmaooo9456 жыл бұрын
Min yoongi is actually his real name and Suga is his stage name. Agust d is his name for when he does solos. Loathing basically means hate. So in that one line he was implying I would kill myself if that makes you happy. As for the censored part, no one knows for sure. Many people think it was him saying he was suicidal. Suga suffered from body image issues too. He used to think he was "fat" and would starve himself and shit. Also, before he debuted his parents were against him making music. He would sell his mixtapes and ppl would basically just rob him so he would end up getting nothing. He's said before that he could either buy a meal or go take the bus back home. He couldn't have both since he was so poor. He performed in front of two people and know he's here performing on the biggest stages in the world. For at least 3 years, bts suffered. They would get cut out of shows since they weren't popular, ppl from bigger companies would talk shit about them etc. He is extremely passionate about music and producing.

I really like the guy with the bun, he's really smart and receptive, most of the times his guesses are right. Keep it up! Also, "loathing" means to hate ALOT, so what suga meant was "if the target of your hate is me, I'll happily go to the guillotine". A guillotine is the artefact with the big blade that fell on ppl's necks to cut their heads when people were sentenced to death during the french revolution.

I admire BTS as a whole so much. But Yoongi is something else. He has such a passion for music which he addressed in "First love", when listened to it for a first time with lyrics i actually cried. Me. I rarely cry even about my personal issues, but that song moved me. He was raping about how he found his love for music when he was still a child, how he fallen in love with it, how he persuaded music, how tried to quit to make it, but never could, because it always ended up being his only solace, when live seemed miserable. It reminded my past, when i too had a dream, except i got distracted, wasn't strong and brave enough to go for it. Suga is very brave person. In his mix tape he talked about a topic, that is usually avoided. He is a raper, he was underground raper before he became BTS member and in that community perception is everything. U have to be seen as strong, manly, have that "I don't give a f*** about anything" attitude or u gonna loose respect, gonna be seen as someone who is lacking, weak, fake. On other hand in idol industry u have to seem perfect or u as well will be seen as lacking and undeserving to be called idol. So for Suga, who considers himself as an raper and idol, put himself out here and say that he had mental problems, that he was struggling with his identity (underground raper self against idol ), that he has emotional scars, that he fought depression, social anxiety, thought about suicide - was beyond brave. When u deciding to talk so openly about yourself, u know u could end up being laughed at, disrespected, mocked, or even being blacklisted and lose a lot of potential commercial and concert gigs. That u putting your future success, career and incomes at risk. Being that honest, in very conservative and sensitive Korean society, could be disastrous for idols career. He known all that, but he still did it. He did it, because he wanted be honest with fans, and give them an insight why he is how he is.(He was misunderstood by fans a lot before that, he seemed quite rude, and cold, person who prefers to be left alone) Most of it came from issue he had, Suga was bad at expresing his true feelings and emotions, so he expressed everything he couldn't before, through his only comfortable outlet - his music. His mixtape. And it hit hard to fans. After listening to it, so many found someone who they actually can relate, someone who struggled like they do now, but came on top. Suga knew so hard is to deal with depression alone, he wanted to start conversation about it, he wanted to show people, who are afraid to tell anyone and struggling in silence, that they are not alone who struggling that way. That it is ok to talk to someone about it and seek help, like he did when he gone to psychiatrist (Big Taboo topic in Korea). I respect him so damn much. He is an inspiration. Seeing him now, knowing that he lived through all those misfortunes and misery and prevailed, gave hope and strength to carry on for so many fans. With that mixtape it looks like he pushed some weight from his chest too, it seems like after he was able to let it out, and expose his true self, he was finally be able to start healing too. Nowdays he looks much more happy and content. We can see his sweet and caring side much more often. He come a long way and should be proud of himself, because Lord knows, we are.

"Show Me The Money" is this show that broadcasts in Korea. It's basically a hip-hop show where underground rappers come and rap and the judges (who can be considered the senior underground artists with great knowledge) give them money based on how good the perform, the way they rap, their diction, stage presence etc. In short, Suga (Agust D, Min Yoongi, lil' meowmeow 😂 however you wanna address him) was given a lot of hate and criticism for not going on the show. Some said he was thinking of himself too greatly, and others said that didn't matter as he apparently wouldn't even qualify. So, responding to that hate, he said- “It's not that I *couldn't* do 'Show Me The Money', it's that I *wouldn't* do it.”

When he talks about his delivery job and the accident that happened he’s talking about when he got in a BAD car accident and it was life threatening. When he talks about the stuff of him eating shit and not knowing his parents he use to pretty much live on the streets his parents tried to support him but usually he had either the option to buy food to eat or to take a bus ride home and he would only get 2 dollars daily ugh I love that man

Yoongi is honestly my favorite His honesty and bluntness really opens up to me He is a straight forward person and he doesn’t have high expectation of others more or less anyone He mostly cares about someone just giving in all their effort Now I know a lot of people are talking about the “when I tried to sleep on the bathroom floor” And about the doctors words But I’m sorry I’m not trying to worry about that Suga would rather live then to hurt ARMY, his family, or his friends You probably can’t tell but Suga cares about family, friends, and ARMY more then himself I’m pretty sure He sometimes hides it with his approach of being a “cold blunt” person And the thought of him committing suicide it does truly hurt my heart But he wouldn’t put the risk of hurting someone else for his own benefits because he cares too much I know this could all be wrong because I can’t read Suga’s mind lol I don’t know him haha hell I don’t even know myself But I just wanted to point out to Suga (if he reads this) is that Suga is an amazing, talented person and has such an great personality Sometimes he may be afraid but he still try’s He doesn’t give up before he even starts I respect his efforts and everything he puts forth :) I would really enjoy being Suga’s friend because he is just awesome You don’t meet someone like Suga everyday Sigh 😔 I don’t want any responds talking about “Oh your so wrong about him” Kiss my ass ... I don’t care your opinion That’s much.... Just wanna get out there that he is literally just... I don’t think there is an ACTUAL word to describe him Suga! You are the cause of my Euphoria ! ❤️ No like for real you are because I’m like so ugly, not talented and I’m pretty sure no one likes me so haha 😆 you and the group are my escape 🙂 love you (i like how I say ‘you’ like🤦♀️ you know dam well dis man not finna see this, ever) J-hope everyone has Suga sweet day! I have some JUNGkookies for you 🍪 I hope Rap Monste- Cookie Monster didn’t eat it all! JIN, I guess I better get some milk 🥛! JIMIN in the group BTS are so handsome! I V so happy just hearing their songs (Kay bye now

Min yoongi’s past is what I’m living right now, I have also tried to commit suicide and I also self harm. I hate myself for reasons, I am going through a lot but I’m not going to go to much detail. That’s part of the few other reasons he’s my bias and BTS and ARMY’s are the reason I’m still alive. They’re the only thing that give me hope, they’re my family😔❤️❤️ I purple you BTS and ARMY💜💜💜💜

FYI: Min (last name) Yoongi (first name) is his real name :) and the beep part where he said "the doctor asked me" the doctor asked him if he's ever thought about or tried to commit suicide before. He said unhesitatingly that he has. The beep was intentionally put in by yoongi. "Loathing" is another word for hate, guillotine is a machine used to behead (chop heads off) people. This song makes me so emotional and he's so strong for opening himself up to us and the world, and facing his demons. He and the rest of BTS speak out on a lot of issues that ppl don't like to/afraid to talk about in Korea which makes them so different and so loved. Thanks for all the content that you put out so quickly everyday 🙏🏼

I'm fairly sure when he mentions "that concert" when he went to the bathroom and couldn't breathe/come out to the stage because he was so afraid is referencing a certain day in Kobe when Suga mysteriously didn't appear on stage and all the members seemed extremely upset. Many fans were stricken by that. It's likely that since he's confessed to anxiety and social phobia, he might have had some sort of panic attack. I don't know, my mom gets panic attacks sometimes and that's what his experience reminds me of. He also mentions "trying to go to sleep on the floor of a bathroom" as well as telling the doctor he had attempted [censored], which honestly is likely an indicator of a suicide attempt. I can't think of anything else it could mean. "The shoulder that was crushed because of an accident during my delivery job" This lyric is true, Suga badly injured his shoulder when he was poor and worked a hard job. He's also mentioned that this was a dark time in his life and he went through problems with his self-image too- he couldn't exercise because of his shoulder, so he starved himself. Yoongi's been through a lot mentally/emotionally and it's a big part of the respect and love I have for him.

The part when he said “ the doctor asked me have you ever-“ and then it got bleeped out was a question on if he ever tried to commit suicide or self harm. He stated that he’d done that before without even hesitating.
@loveyourself-brave96116 жыл бұрын
The part where the doctor asks him and it beeps out. In Korea talking about hurting yourself or attempting Suicide is frowned upon so that’s why it bleeped out “I said unhesitatingly that id been like that before.” That part meaning that he did try to hurt himself before without really saying he attempted Suicide or just attempted to hurt himself.
