I also find myself seeking BTS when I feel myself stuck in negativity. I often say that before BTS were in my life, I simply existed. But since BTS entered my life, I am living. They remind me that despite life being tough sometimes, it's okay to take a minute to appreciate where I am, and how far I've come. By the way, a lot of the clips of the boys playing games and whatnot in this episode were from a variety show they filmed back in 2013 called "Rookie King". There are 8 episodes that are about an hour long each, and you can find them with English subtitles from Channel Bangtan here on KZbin. Might be another fun thing to explore during Twitch streams 😉

It took some people a while to realise that Hitman's view of just how the two forces (Underground/Idol) could merge and be successful.... For RM/Yoongi and eventually Hobi , they already knew they could do it... A lot of other Kpop groups were actually as those underground hiphop artists saw Idols to be... a pre-fabricated mix of singers/dancers/rappers who were handed the tracks/lyrics by studios and all they needed to do was perform it.... (not all of them of course...but the majority)... This is why BTS was and is so different... they used their own skills to make their music..yes they got some help with it and with choreo for their performances...but the major part of what they do comes from themselves and their own hard work and dedication.... Army will always be forever grateful to those initial KArmy who were able to attend the shows to give support, got online to join the vlives in the first couple of years and promoted the group far and wide ....

You felt the Real Love they expressed. And all of the Army to this day still feel that love. BTS is about the only group that...at the end of their concerts...they express that Love and Gratitude to their fans. You can understand why the pandemic "destroyed" them emotionally. They had no way of contacting the Army, seeing the Army, or performing for the Army, their Lifeblood. BTS held and filmed a concert with an empty stadium. It was an online concert. They said it was the hardest thing they ever did. Not hearing Army do the fan chants and clapping and screaming and singing along and just to be able to look in their eyes. We are all so glad you experienced that emotion. That's why we are still here! On some award show they give an award for Best Fans of a group. BTS Always wins. Even over Taylor Swift, or Beyonce, or Justin Bieber, or anyone!

One of my favorite episodes in the series. I can say I see time after time how much the messages BTS has shared on every album have saved lives. So many. Especially when no one much less K-pop acts we’re talking about these issues in society. Their fans became very loyal very quickly even if the fandom took a while to really get steam and grow. Also after that interview panel where RM and Suga were singled out and harassed by the older underground rappers, BangPD drove to the main company and chewed out their CEO he’s quiet but extremely protective of the guys. Mostly they take everything they are criticized for or harassed over and put it into their music. Call them girls and they start wearing skirts frequently to show nothing wrong with being a girl. Songs like the Cyphers and Idol etc fed by the negativity thrown at them. Or on this second album songs like Paldogangsan (a song celebrating regional accents after several members like Jimin has been bullied in HS after moving from Busan to Seoul and he had a strong accent).

I see it every day here how much the community is shaped and molded by the music, but also the story's on how the music saved the life's of so many amazing people. This is why I say this is probably the most emotional video for me, not in terms of what BTS has had to go through, but of the situation for young people in Korea. So powerfully edited too, with the students hopelessness and the lyrical response of BTS. And at the same time, knowing that Korea has had to build itself back up from literal ashes after being divided in a proxy war between the US & Russia, and being colonized by Japan up until the end of WW2 before that. As RM has said in a recent article, Koreans work hard and they HAD/Have to work hard to get to where they are without stealing from others (which is not a legacy that many other countries of their caliber (i/e Japan, US, Canada, Britain, France, Spain...the list goes on) can claim. It's just that the exceptional growth they experienced and the ability for simply having a good education to excel aren't working anymore and young people are carrying that burden. I always try to keep in mind too, that S. Korea has a pop. of 52 million in a country the size of New Brunswick so when we talk about competition for resources (jobs, education, etc) it's not like anything we can imagine here in Canada.

ohhhh you are very right! Thats not something I ever thought of... damn Its a harsh reality. BUT This can be the hope and the fight that I would love to become a part of. To help the youth of S.Korea know there are ways to break from the social construct and not become another number. Its not easy but Im sure Im not the first person to think this and Im also sure there are efforts already in place. I just hope that our brothers and sisters from Korea can know that we are all here to talk to. 💜💜💜

Yes, there are many scenes of Run BTS where they compete with each other and play many games. Sometimes the punishments for the losers are very funny - for example, kissing, wearing funny clothes in public places (airports, etc.)...

Recently the South Korean gov't tried to raise the maximum work week to 69 hours instead of the currenr 52 hours but there was so much backlash they didn't. I can't help but wonder if BTS had influenced the peoples attitudes towards wanting to have a more balanced life.

I really get how you feel. School Expectations are hard enough in the west. To know how that it's a million times worse in South Korea....it's extremely sad. These are issues I never would have known about if I hadn't gotten into BTS. I'm Canadian. While I DO try to stay updated on major world events, there are some things you just won't know unless it's brought to your attention and things like the Sewol Ferry Tragedy and the High Suicide rate in South Korea, are things I NEVER would have known about if BTS' songs didn't cause fans to bring attention to those things. But in all honesty The Sewol Tragedy is more distant because I can empathize, but not as much as the high suicide rate, as I have depression and anxiety disorders, so I fully get how bad someone's mental health has to get to reach that point. It makes me sad, and ANGRY that mental health is treated the way it is there. Psychology and Mental Health are my passions and I have so much respect for people like Yoongi (Anxiety, Depression, OCD, ADHD) and Sunmi (BPD) for being open with their mental health struggles. Considering where they live, it must have been extra difficult to decide to share that stuff.

17:41 some are from rookie king, that show came 1st , others are from run BTS yes 💜 19:27 I touched on this on 1 of your other rise of bangtan reactions, but notice, when says they have to be perfect and always happy etc, the screen showed Jungkook upset, and they weren't wearing makeup, they were being goofballs etc . While BTS was grown from the idol training system, they didn't have the same restrictions or expectations from their company to be *perfect* bang pd said "I didn't force them to practice, nor did I dictate their everyday. I just told them they just need to incorporate their own feelings thoughts etc into their music, and to not do anything that would embarrass you or the company" the latter meaning don't do drugs, don't bully, don't have dating scandals or so I assume, as those are the main reasons kids get removed from the groups, she tries to show the difference between the big 3 companies/idols and big hit/BTS by showing our boys doing exactly what she says you can't or shouldn't do. Hope this time my explanation of that will help you understand better than the last time I tried lol. Sorry! I'm doin my best haha 💜 20:01 typically, especially back then, idols didn't write their own music. Not a lot of rappers were underground before, though some claim they were. Most lovers of hip hop want the rapper to write his own lyrics, because rap is a form of poetry. And in the idol training system if I kid can't sing to save his life, his trainers will often make them a rapper. I Namjoon raps about it in cyphers. BTS sort of broke the mold and some groups are writing and composing their own stuff, so general kpop is getting better thanks to that, imo. 30:33 I just did a similar thing. I deleted the Facebook app and stopped using it, and I disabled the news on my phone because I was getting too upset everyday. I replace all that with BTS because they're healthier for a broken, neurodivergent brain than social media and the news. I've been using my meditation app as well. I feel like with therapy and BTS you can't go wrong! 💜

It's not something they just say in passing at award shows but it's times like this one and the beautiful songs they write and sing to us that lets ARMYs know how much we mean to them. To answer your question if I understand it right. Yes. You saw some clips of RunBTS. Such as the kiss. The losers had to do that! But also Behind the Scenes of MV's. They get filmed 24x7. So sometimes those funny clips would be released for us to watch. All to promote and market BTS back then before they were well known. Oh, and you saw some of the video and stage performance of "Rise of Bangtan." Note. Chuseok is like their Thanksgiving.

FYI None of the clips where they are playing games are from RUN BTS. This series follows the timeline of BTS and ROOKIE KINGS was in 2013 (the time period covered here) and RUN BTS started in August of 2015. Some people in the comments are saying it's a little of both RUN BTS and ROOKIE KINGS but it's not. I can say this with confidence as I have watched both series multiple times.

This was amazing, as usual. Well done! You're becoming more confident, with each video. Your reaction to the boys reading their letters to ARMYs was so real. They have a way of hitting us right in the feels, when we least expect it. Idk if I've shared this with you, or not, but I became aware of BTS's music in 2017, through my younger daughter. Then life happened, and I lost track, only to be yanked back in, with Dynamite. I'm so proud of all these young men have accomplished. They remain so humble, and so relatable. This parasocial relationship we have isn't nearly as one-sided as you would think. During the pandemic they did so much, to help us get through it. I found them or better yet they found me in 2019 during the hardest time of my life. My dad was dying with cancer and end stage kidney failure and mom suffering with copd I had to sell my home in Florida to move to VA to help my mom with my dad. I was getting really depressed then the boys found me and life for me got a little happier but then covid hit and my dad shortly after died. Threw me back to depression not coping well with his death, watching my mom suffer and I dove in head first to really get to know the boys. Best thing I’ve ever done because they have helped me with my mental health and just generally make my days so happy. My mom is now en end stage COPD so life is still hard but I have my babies that I watch everyday and they make my heart happy! I could never thank BTS enough for all they have done for millions of Army’s! I thank God for them every day! Thank you @MasterGo for loving them and for your love for us! We love you! #Borahae 🫰🏻💜

hugs army. I too found BTS in 2019. I am a cancer survivor and that year i found out my mom was dealing with cancer too but she was in denial and dying in front of my eyes. I was so tired from all my battles BTS gave me the will to fight for her life. She still with us stage 4 breast cancer metastasis. And i am 5 years in remission. I do agree. I was like a zombie when I was attending Korean elementary school. The math stuff I learned in Korean elementary school was the same stuff I learned in high school in the U.S. So you kind of guess what kind of education you learn in Korea. I think Ive watched the first three episodes a dozen times every time a reactor I like starts it, but truly honestly you are taking such great care ad effort to absorb and digest information so new to you that it really feels like Im watching WITH you and discussing as we go. And I remember that their song N.O is banned before the students exam cause it makes students 'rebel' from the school policies. And honestly N.O is one of my favorite, cause the message is so true and it reflects my struggle before, like meeting the standards set by people around me is so frustrating and sometimes depressing. Hell yeah I Was a Teenage Anarchist (against me song) lol So I know what the Rebel is all about! Coming from a small town I could just go out and start shit up! Once I was in school and teachers were yippin about how I was getting people to do my schoolwork for me???... I rocked them so hard when I passed my tests like a mad man! When I got my highschool deploma I just grabbed that shit and walked off. I didnt care because I knew school wasnt it. As time went on though... the social construct got me... then I was worn down.. and the people that paid me money said I couldnt do shit and I was just a worker for them to enjoy more time with there kids.. like WTF. It seams like only now Im starting to see sparks of my old self through these early days of BTS. Im coming back with the power of BTS and ARMY at my side

Sadly, South Korea still has the highest rate of sucide for children and teens to this day. Several KPop stars have committed suicide. Even one recently. It's so sad. BTS always goes and pays their regrets.

When I was doing my 2 year undergraduate courses for entry into the Education Degree Program in Canada, the minimum grade for entry was A-! I was having a meltdown every semester for those entire 2 years!!! I did qualify and got my Education Degree but it was the worst thing I’ve ever had to go through in my life!!! So I can’t even imagine what it must be like for the S. Korean kids!!! RM with his 148 IQ and Jimin (aka God of math) with his 128 IQ would have no problem getting into the best universities but for anyone else without that advantage…it must be freaking brutal!!!

I agree FULLY with this. Some people are gifted and some work really hard. Myself... I've always had a really hard time. I get there, but it takes a long while. My anxiety during tests really messed me up. I'm really happy you achieved your goal! It must have felt so amazing after all of it was done!
