This is such a weird design choice about melee recoveries for me. A few other characters have this as well - Pikachu ending on stage, Marth, Zelda if you end in the air, etc like you're stuck sitting there for what feels like 20 frames waiting to do anything after your upb lol. I personally play Zelda and if I don't land upb onto the solid ground, and have to fall down onto stage, it's a huge punish for free almost every time.

I appreciate the responses. It seemed like a sizeable disadvantage but I couldn't be certain with my limited knowledge. I've played a ton of fighting games, but the melee fan base seems especially willing to answer questions about their game.

that being said Marth has a much harder time punishing Sheik’s recovery than other characters because his best KO move (tipper f smash) is almost impossible to land at the ledge. He can only start reliably KOing around 150% with up tilt (even so it still has a ton of weird hitboxes that won’t always send people the way you want). Meanwhile Fox and Falcon can KO Sheik around 80% with up smash or knee, and Puff can kill around 20% with Rest (main reason why the matchup is so insanely hard for Sheik)

Went 3-0 during day 1 pools with Falco. Later that night after those matches he learned that he got ranked number 3 for 2022 even though he wanted number 2. Because of this he raged and went Doctor Mario for his pools matches on day 2 and instantly lost the first two he played, sending him out of Genesis. Since he got eliminated in day 2 pools he tied for 97th overall at the tourney
