Great run! My mom and I used to refer to the Whale of Death as the Fail Whale. Have a happy winter solstice!

Oh wow, Bubble Bobble. The music from this game burns into your soul. 😄 I first saw it as an arcade game.
@VideoGames10113 сағат бұрын
Yep, that's why I say I hope everyone likes that music at the start, as that's all you're going to get for the next hour!

No worries, I don't mind. Could be way worse, like if this was Kiwi Kraze 101.

Thank you PG. Yep this one never gets old for me to pick up and play despite its relative longer length amongst the NES library.

Professor, you were almost right about getting EXTEND. Whenever you pop multiple enemies at once, a number of letters will spawn equal to the number of enemies popped, -2. Letters will only spawn if there is a hole in the level. Letters you don't collect will spawn again on a later level, so if a duplicate letter spawns, don't collect it and it might appear as a different letter on a later level. Also, when playing 2-player, each player can collect their own set of letters. As for the power items: candy spawns are based on the number of bubbles blown and popped. Shoes spawn based on how many times you bounce on a bubble. Certain items spawn based on the number of water, fire, and lightning bubbles popped. I can't remember the rest. There's a lot. I just remember those general rules.

Yep, and it still holds up!

Good lord, this game. My younger sister was absolutely obsessed with this title as a kid. That said, the ending sequence said the adventure wasn't over yet. This game had a "Round 2" mode you could play through with a password --- quite a fair bit tougher than the usual 100 floors, and you also get an extended ending sequence by clearing it. Though, Grumple Gromit.... I'm fairly certain most people know him as "Super Drunk", though the name change might've been due to NES guidelines.

me and my sister loved playing this game, we never beat it, but we still had fun.

Yep, on the shortlist for the absolute best true couch co-op games on the NES.

Love this game, and hate that it's not on the Switch's NES collection. Wait a minute, you've taught a class on Bubble Bobble before. I remember commenting on it.

Oh man bubble bobble. This game reminds me a lot of Castle Quest, I think because I played them around the same time? Great playing here, professor.

one more tip I would add, is during dead time stand against a wall and blow bubbles. popping bubbles is worth points so might as well collect points while waiting for level transitions.

Yep, it's one of the few true cooperative let's work toward a common goal games for the NES.

I played this game in the arcade as a kid. A small store with 3 arcade cabinets opened right next to my house, I thought this was going to be a stupid girl game. This wound up being my favorite game by far. What a classic!

just loved this game growing up, so few quick things... 1 there not ping pong paddles... the character is called the drunkard and he is actually throwing beer bottles at you, and the white whale is known as baron von blubba in the American instruction manual... one of the few instances that the Nintendo of America didnt censor a game cause if they found out then that beer was in a game o boy that would of been interesting on how they would make em change it... if memory serves the final boss is known as the big drunkard in the arcade game but that could be hearsay from long ago, in not sure if the game boy version ever got changed with the beer fact or not as i never owned that title way back when tho

I love music in many games but just hearing this games music brings a smile to my face. in level 59 what does fa10 mean is it the color?
@VideoGames10113 сағат бұрын
Your guess is as good as mine on some of the references, including the FA10, RJ. It's "BR10" in the arcade version, so yeah I have no idea why the change (nor does Fluff). I'd assume inside jokes for and references to the staff, but not sure.

Do you stop after the first victory or do you go through the extended 100 levels of the second?

Yeah this is a single 113ish levels run, so the secret exit to get the best ending, but no not played through a second time.

I MIGHT be misremembering, but i am ALMOST certain theres another ending. I vuagely remember an ending where the boss turns into the parents of the playable characers (or maybe the girls?) Edit:I looked it up, and there IS one more ending yet to get
@VideoGames10113 сағат бұрын
Yeah if you play it through again with the BBAJI code for the super bubble mode there are a few slight changes, like the enemies which appear on certain stages and some color palette swaps.
