I do recommend watching when you have 9 minute to spare, because it really helps understand what we need to look at and consider when reading articles like this.
Plus it took me about 10 hours to make so the engagement would be appreciated 😂
➡️ But, looooooong story short..
-It’s not a scoping/systemtic review as the authors states
-There is a lot of bias
-Authors didn’t disclosure any COIs, but there are several worth noting
-This only tells us what clinicians (mostly dentists) who are very enthusiastic about tethered oral tissues report as symptoms and clinical practice
-That doesn’t make these results generalizable - especially because other research does not support the claims they made
-Most of the claims made, when they do provide a citation contradict their statements or are misrepresented in their interpretations
🤷♀️ So anyway… it’s not good science. Watch the video and read the article when you have a chance. I’d love to know what interpretations you made ⬇️
Shoutout to @unbiasedscipod for the bag featured at the end LOL.
*I made an error when I spoke about “high frenums” related to gingivitis. This was referring to an attachment closer to molars, however, this is not causal and just one risk factor*
