Having conquered gospel, country, pop and rock genres, it's only natural that the legendary Oak Ridge Boys quartet put their brand on hip hop! Whether it's your cup of tea or not, big kudos to Buck 22 and the producers for creating the concept and some fresh Oak Ridge Boys for doing it!

You're so right about that! I didn't think I cared for rap, till this guy, Buck 22. I feel like he's going to send me down the rabbit's hole into a whole new play list.

@@kellyclark-easley5590 - That's one of the beautiful things about music ... it's like people ... you never know who is going to become your next friend. I never really cared for rap either (as anyone who has listened to my show will tell you) but, this has shown me a cross-over relationship that shows how music (like people) can be full of surprises. There's a lot of rap that I still don't like, but, I have a much stronger respect for it after Joe Bonsall and The Oaks introduced me to this artist and song!

@@thedavidbowers7990 This isn't rap this is country to my ears. If you want to hear an actual rap classic check out something like Mobb Deep - Shook One's. A genuine clasic track of the genre. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6C8i5ljoad5lbc

See, there is nothing at all wrong with Hip Hop or Rap, so long as the content of the song isn't over the top. It is the unnecessarily suggestive and vulgar lyrics that had given the two genre's their bad reputation. But if you don't focus exclusively on the shock factor, you can still make some sick beats and even potentially a timeless tune. You just have to be confident in your ability and not strive for controversy. Controversy may create cash in the short term,... but is not sustainable in the long run. The Oaks may not break any superstar records, but what they DO have is sustainable staying power, and that is one of the things that makes them so special, and why after half a century they are still together

Robert Townsend's movie The Five Heartbeats saw this coming many years ago. "Most rappers are in their 20's (20's), we're in our 40's (40's), and our hook is..we rap COUNTRY AND WESTERN!!" Great version of a classic song!

I am a big fan of The Oak Ridge Boys, but this version of this song is NOT my cup of tea. The only thing I enjoyed about the video was seeing The Oak Ridge Boys participating in it. I apologize to any Buck 22 fans, I do not mean to hurt anyone's feelings. **I did not press the dislike button.**
@thedavidbowers79904 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your candor and understand completely, Angelica. NO music is the 'favorite' of everyone. That's another of the beauties of it: Like people, you can always find SOMEONE (or tune) that you like. And you don't have to be forced to listen to anyone you don't. You can STILL enjoy people/music.
