Steppenwolf was my first album I asked my mom to purchase as a young teen back in the 70s. She looked at the cover, read the song list and blurted out “Screaming Night Hogs”! I knew then I picked the perfect band to start my journey to rock and roll forever 😂

In the mid 80s I knew a guitar collector/ builder in El Paso, Tx. who claimed a guitar he had for sale was that guitar that Larry Byron is playing in that video. He had some paperwork that certified it. He wanted $800. I wish I would have bought it, but at the time I just didn't have the money.

I'm 65. Found Steppenwolf when I was 12. We played almost all their hits for years at many gigs and never failed to get requests for more. They don't need the hall of shame to validate them, their fans do that for them.

Jimi Hendrix and John Kay were really good friends and had a lot of mututal respect for one another..in may ways both were unassuming, Remarkable. "Monster" is STILL soo pertinent and relevant !! I loved playing this song on my Gibson SG guitar in my 3-piece rock band, Crisp, around 1975. I remember on break, one stoned dude said, "Hey, play that motorthickle song again" !!! I'm 73 now, and still playing guitar (at home). Got to see Steppenwolf at a Coliseum in 1969. Fabulous!!!

I rode over to the hotel they were staying at in Denver on my 55 FL and they were just coming out the front heading to dinner and the guys freaked out when i pulled up.. taking a chance i threw all the steppenwolf album covers and 1 Sparrow i had in my saddle bags. The timing was perfect. I asked if he would sign a couple covers and he goes , sure. So i grabbed all of em and Jhon says , I thought you said a couple ,laughing. I said yeah a couple few. John signed every one of them while the guys checked out my bike. (55 pan on a 48 wishbone ,MT clutch ,fish tails ,apes , and their favorite colors , black over silver) That was alright of John to take the time to sign all the covers. He could have signed just one and i would have been cool with that. Anyway i wanted to share that with you. Have a good one

Grew up with these guys in Detroit. Born to be Wild was and still is etched in my mind, lyrics and tune. Sex and drugs, and crazy times. Muscle shirts, harmonicas and back up vocalists were signature accompaniments for these rock n roll times. I miss them sooo much!!!

@@ritahall6628 I saw them many times. when they played Fairs brought many a biker. Night Hog is a Harley motorcycle.

I LOVE THIS TUNE I ALWAYS HAVE ONE OF MY FAVORITE TUNES OF ALL TIME BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND REHEARSING THIS TUNE IN THE APARTMENT ABOVE AN ELDERLY COUPLE AT 3 AM IN THE MORNING

My Mom bought my older brother and myself Steppenwolf albums in 1971 when I was in the 4th grade....I don't even remember if we asked for them, also I wore out the grooves on the Joy To the World 45 record we had.
