Buckethead wrote Soothsayer for his aunt Suzie when she was 74 (he also has another song called Aunt Suzie). She unfortunately passed away the following year. RIP. Aunt Suzie gave Brian Carroll his first guitar. He went on to write and record over 400 albums in the last few decades.

Heeey, Buckethead, the greatest guitarist in the world. Always nice to see. He wears the bucket because he was raised by chickens and KFC did indeed hit him with a C&D, he wore a plain white bucket for a while. The KFC bucket also had "Funeral" covering it to protest the mass murder of his family. He's crazy prolific with literally hundreds of album releases. His real name is Brian Carroll. Check out Buckethead - Jordan live at the Culture Room. I saw Black Label Society live at Ozzfest 2001 :)

From the first time I heard him play I was instantly hooked. One night about twenty years back I had the radio on and the DJ that night was a fill in and said he was going to play some music that was not main stream but some tunes he thought people would like. It was on in the background and so I really wasn't listening all that close. I failed to hear whatever was said before the song played but when it started I stopped what I was doing went over to the radio and cranked it. As I listened I was intrigued and figured that there would soon be some lousy singing or lyrics but they never came. As it continued I just stood there listening and smiling as it was perfect and refreshing, I loved it. When it was over I hoped he would say who it was but they went to a commercial. I turned down the radio and thought as hard as I could about what I heard before it started and all I remembered was "It's Alive " or something like that. I checked around as best I could (there was no internet then) but came up empty. Then several years went by and one day at work Pandora was playing in the background and a song came on that I really liked called "Machete" so I looked who played it and it was this guy named Buckethead. Later that night I checked out some of his tunes and stumbled upon a song called "Lebrontron" . As soon as it started I knew it was that same song from years earlier. I found out the name of the album was "It's Alive" that's why I couldn't find it I thought it was the name of the song. Anyway, for me Buckethead is now the standard for which I judge all music.

There's only a handful of photos of his face and they are almost 20 years old so no one knows how he looks like except family and friends, also he rarely does any interviews. He's arguably the most prolific musician with around 300 studio albums and collaborations with hundreds of other musicians. He actually wears the face mask to deal with anxiety issues and is his main coping mechanism. Quite an astounding musician and a very interesting person to say the least

You blokes are right about him being big. Hes 6'6" and has his guitars made bigger to stay proportional to his size. Buckethead has over 300 studio albums and is a composer that rivals mozarts in terms of original compositions. His name is believed to be Brian Patrick Carroll but you right about his desire for anonymity and us Bucket Heads are happy to oblige. We respect him and feel lucky that such a gifted and good hearted individual shares his beautiful art with the rest of us.

Quick fact. the guitar is scaled up. Buckethead has both monster hands and stands at 6'6". So he makes regular guitars look tiny. Also some of his stuff just becomes near impossible/actually impossible if your hands aren't king kong level to stretch to some of the frets.... lifes not fair sometimes.

I’m a massive Buckethead fan and I still wonder from time to time just how awesome they would have sounded doing an Ozzy album together 🤔 I wish Oz could have gotten past that just let him do his thing (it worked good in Guns and Roses ! I do think if he would have understood if there had been time to explain the massive stage fright/anxiety thing and that it isn’t just a gimmick to Brian, it’s more of a survival mechanism really to still be able to perform at peak level without all the worry ! Unknown to most people Ozzy also gets huge stage fright every time he goes on stage! After a few minutes he says it’s fine after that though but Bucket is very introverted and introspective as well , way more than Ozzy is. ) it would have sounded incredible I’m sure. Hell I still think Ozzy should do a new track with him anyways! 🤟🏻😎🤟🏻 Ozzy did say later on in an interview when asked about him , and I quote- “he was a very nice guy and could play like a motherfucker!” 😄 when asked if he could just play as Brian ( Brian Carrol his real name) he said “ Nobody except my Mom calls me Brian ! Everyone else just calls me Buckethead or Bucket for short. “ to which Ozzy then said “ well then pretend I’m your Mum “ 😄 but he still wanted him to remove the bucket, Big B wasn’t having it so it didn’t happen 🥲 he also has said in the past that “ Brian is just a regular guy Buckethead is the one playing guitar and making all the music “… that being said I would still to this day absolutely love to hear the 2 of them do a killer new track together ! 🤟🏻😎🤟🏻. With Bucket’s incredible guitar skill and Ozzy’s one of a kind voice… Pure Magic 🪄 I just know it would be 100% insanely Awesome! 👍🏻 there is just no single reason to believe that it wouldn’t be a straight up killer track ! 😎

🎬 Brian Patric Carrol a.k.a. Buckethead is the most amazingly true artist🎨 🎶I've ever seen period ! Once you learn about and get past the obvious🎭 like those of us who have you will be perplexed like looking into another world 🪐. He is on a whole other level. 🚀 I'd compare him maybe to Jimmy Hendrix , Tom Scholtz , Eddie VanHalen rolled into one. I've been to many live concerts in my lifetime. 🎟 Aerosmith to Zeppelin🏟 and thought I'd seen the best. Big B blows them all away🌋 . Doing the toy exchange with him at a live show small venue in my hometown was literally one of my most cherished favorite memories of my lifetime. I'm over 60 ⏳️years old now and was able to see his live show twice on the 2019 tour. When someone has a gift that they have spent the majority of their life improving and perfecting like Buckethead has ..witnessing that personally is like visiting some unknown amazing new universe 👽which he and the fans call Bucketheadland 🎢 . Buckethead loves his fans and gives away bags full of toys 🎅at every show. Artist like him often are very different from what we call normal. Creative genius and 🎸 guitar God rolled into one. Woo!

I heard at first many years back they didn’t like it that he wore the KFC bucket all the time ( don’t know if there is any truth to that though. I’ve also heard that they never said anything at all to him good or bad about it ever!). He has also said that it was originally just a bucket of Deli chicken not KFC ( in the interview “ Buckethead speaks” it’s about an hour long , with his therapist. It’s an amazing interview to anyone who hasn’t seen/ heard it yet ! and wants to understand him better! Why he is the way he is ( he’s a deep introvert and a gentle introspective person , as well as him having massive stage fright and anxiety issues and has had heart trouble etc. that he deals with but is getting better and learning how to keep it in check. ), he actually explains this about why he wears the mask and bucket etc. And it is definitely him 100% and it’s very insightful and real !( I hope he does another one as just Brian Carroll just like that one ! with the same guy Parker Dietz I think ?🤔 in the near future! It answered so many questions! For us fans 😊) it also may possibly be the only real true in depth interview he has ever done ! …As Buckethead himself doesn’t speak! ) but later on the powers that be at KFC the company Public relations dept. warmed up to the idea as someone had noticed a significant uptick in sales whenever he played a show in a town /city that had a KFC ! Haha! 🤭 I’ve even seen a comment right directly from a KFC branded website ( it’s out there on Facebook or something similar) that they actually 😊 like him wearing it nowdays! Hell why not ! it’s great free advertising all over the world 🌎 and unlike many Rockstars… he doesn’t drink or do drugs at all and never has! He’s just a killer guitarist! so … why not ? he sure as hell isn’t hurting anyone or anything 😄 from anything I’ve ever heard about him he’s the most genuine gentle an kind soul you could ever hope to meet and it does seem to be totally 💯 % true during the live shows especially at the “Toy Time “ exchange! About half way through the live gigs … He Absolutely Loves the fans and we fully Love ❤️ him in return for all the music and everything he does for us ! That guy is an extremely humble person and a class act all the time , a truly kind person all the way 😊 even his actual close friends like Brain his personal friend and drummer in the past for live shows with his solo music and in the band Praxis say that it is true! He really is a super nice person and is that way in real life. After you hear that interview you can just tell that he really is that way. Very respectful and a genuine nice guy , no question about it ! 😊 🪣🎸👑

There's no meaning behind the bucket. He liked michael myers growing up and bought a mask, then was eating kfc one day and put the bucket on his head lol. That's how the persona was made.

@@taylorgang2237 its not about playing it, the thing thats semi impossible about buckethead is that soothsayer for example, he plays it different every SINGLE time. Even this was 50% improv.

no it's not the dooo 😂 the dooo is in his mid 20's buckethead's name is brian caroll he is 51years old, he's 6'4 and a beast personally for me and a lot of people he is the best guitarist in the world he has published over 300 albums all of them different than eachother he is truly amazing and also there is a small chance the dooo is his son the dooo's name is eric we don't know his last name and haven't seen his face he is 26 which means he could be bucketheads son he started playing with his dads guitar at 14 which is 12 years ago so he might be bucketheads son cause he is so talented and plays the guitar perfectly he might've got some talent from his father

Buckethead is alot better than slash, the bucket is because he grew up on a chicken farm. He is against raising chickens for meat. The story I heard was as a kid he saw the chickens being fed fried chicken. It's like an animal rights thing. He is the best guitarist in my book though.

Also fun fact, because the bucket makes him look taller his guitars have necks long enough to fit the size.

this is a super tonal (letting drone strings sustain)variation than normal, more often it's much less dissonant and in that sorta cleanr. this dissonance is very nice. you havent heard this song by listening to one version it a few times, or even a few versions a few times. NEVER the same. the dissonance here cries despair. buckethead is a robot chicken landed on earth, it why he only uses a drum machine for solo material, it's why he does da Robot...so this is a very poignant one for the connoisseur.
