Hey Chris & Tovah! We share the same sentiment as you with Montenegro. The area around Kotor was breathtaking and having lunch overlooking the bay was an experience we won't forget any time soon! The beaches around Budva were also amazing. Thanks for watching and we hope you are both well. -Jon

Well that's not true for peak season which is 4times as expensive.. July 2024. -Daily spendings food and sunbeds 50eur. -A decent apartment is 150-200eur a day. Item costs: -Sunbeds 15-20eur. -Food 11-35eur. Pasta to meat dishes -drinks 6-9eur, beer 6eur. -short boat tour 7eur to 3hours for 20eur. -Nightclub entrance 20eur. As expensive as Croatia or French Riviera actually

People of Montenegro are very nice and friendly - but they are strictly against any pricelists, tickets or whatever documents mentioning the fact they will be or were paid for something (i.e. owe taxes to the state). You can pay 200-300 euro for a family rafting and get a piece of paper with a handwritten "5 persons" - or just verbal "Ok, be here in 20 min". Needless to say that credit cards are rarely accepted, except supermarkets and some restaurants, as well as many apartments either do not list themselves at the aggregators or require a payment to be made by cash - however, there is a plenty of ATMs. Having this said - "deal is deal", i.e. if you paid for a two-way tip to an island and agreed that they will pick you in 5 hours - relax and enjoy the beach, 10 minutes to the given time the boat will appear. The country is generally safe, we haven't seen any rude, aggressive or intoxicated people at any time of day or night. In the very tourist places - do not buy the tickets from the first guy/gal, especially at the parking - because at the entry or boat itself same tour can be 3 times cheaper ;) At Virpazar, we were "unwelcomed" by some guys who told us that if we do not buy from them - our car, parked in a quite nowhere along with ~20 others "will not be safe and can be hit by something". I moved it to the same ad-hoc parking on the other side of a motorway and nothing happened.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear that Montenegro is such a friendly and safe place overall, even though there are some quirks when it comes to payments and tickets. We found it really interesting how some things are done on a trust basis, and it’s always good advice to shop around for tours! Your tips about parking and dealing with vendors are super helpful for anyone visiting Montenegro. We’re glad nothing happened with your car, and it’s good to know the country is generally safe. 😊

Remember viewers, there are many many places with lovely scenery across the world that one can visit. What many of these couple vloggers fail to mention is that Montenegro is very poor, the infrastructure is crumbling underfoot, trash and graffiti are everywhere, and you will frequently smell sewage. So outside of the uninhabited portions of the country, it’s straight up gross.

We were there mid May and it was starting to heat up. We would say that the weather was perfect at around 25-27C/77-80F. It was definitely warm enough for a swim, althought the water was still cool at around 18C/65F.

Do you have any suggestions for the scooty rental in Montenegro?
@BucketListTravellers
@BucketListTravellers Жыл бұрын
Hi there, sorry we didn't look into the scooter rental while we were in Montenegro. Most of the places we visited were easy enough to walk around. There were regular shuttle buses from city to city as well, which was helpful. That said, having a scooter would be very handy to visit some of the nice beaches along the coast or some of the smaller towns, like Perast.

Great question! We spent 2 months in Croatia and would have to say it was our favourite. That said, we hear that since the Euro has been introduced it is a lot more expensive to visit. Montenegro is a great alternative to Croatia we found, and cheaper. Spain was pretty awesome and we definitely want to return to explore more. We haven't yet been to Portugal but definitely want to visit. Italy was ok, but would probably be at the bottom of your list.

@@ganeshr4371 I think places like Italy have been default bucket list destinations for people for such a long time. It also comes with high expectations. We found it just ok, part of it was that it was more expensive than we expected, especially after spending 6 weeks in South France.
