@@BuckinBillyRaySmith Hey Billy Ray Smith. Thank you for being a living inspiration to my life. I am 27 years old from northern New Mexico. You have inspired me to chase what I love and what gets me fired up. I know God does kings for a reason I really feel that I've found you for a good reason. I feel that you are my mentor and life coach. Sometimes your speaking right at me. I am recovering from addiction to prescription painkillers and am trying to find my way to the light. I wont give up this fight, I have three girls ages 9, 17 months and 2 months. I have so much to fight for and to live for. thank you buckin for reminding me what's important in life. After watching your videos for two years this one just came across to me. Amen buckin.. 6 years ago this January I was a freight train heading down the line myself. I looked at my wife and my only daughter and I realized to keep them safe I needed to step away and so I did. You don’t realize the damage you do to those around you until it’s hindsight. I had nothing and I worked 12 hours a day 7 days a week just to pay the piper. Now here we are all these years later I got back with my family 6 months after stepping away to get help. Today we own our own house and have 4 beautiful children together. The only way I can say it is life is even. No more ups downs highs or lows just even. Thank you for spreading this message it needs to get out there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and there is a way out. Even if it doesn’t seem like it there is. We are proof of it.

A painful story but one so full of wisdom and inspiration. About 25 years ago I was working a decent job with a crew. If we weren't working we were drinking. Pretty soon I was the only one who didn't have a DUI. Lost allot of bad women and a few good women. I thought I was so invicable and strong. But in reality I was so weak. I needed a few drinks to be social. One day I woke up hung over as u did every day. I decided I didn't wanna exist like this anymore. I quit liquor/beer cold turkey. My life began a new. I got a new job, new friends, real friends. And life took on new meaning. I decided to dedicate my life to helping others. In any way that he saw fit. Well when you put others above yourself life has a meaning. Your story hit me like no other. I appreciate it more than my mear words can express. Thank you because it shows that we can change our path. We can renew oneself and be happy in our own skin without needing a chemical to get us there.

as a fiveteen yearold who grew up with addiction in the house, with my parents fighting and drinking there lifes away, my mom would leave me at home, i was about 10-11 at the time for two-three weeks out on horible drinking, snorting benders, and while my dad was trying to provide for us in the oilpatch, witch means he was away for about a month at a time, while i watched my mom cheat on my dad man a man with cokine, who now beats her and abuses her, and then my dad drink away his depression and fail at sobering up, i got my child hood cut short and now i struggle with addiction, not substace but a p0rn addiction, this video makes me want to quite for good because i cant go two days without it, i dont want to end up like either one of my parents. and i dont want my addiction to end up becoming worse/ and or turn into substace abuse. so thank you for sharing this video with the world i hope it can help others.

Buckin', I gotta tell you man, first off: thank you. For everything you do with your channel and the love you put out into the world. The other week I met a man while I was cutting trees. He mentioned wanting the wood to burn. I had some oak that I was planning on selling but something in my head just told me to give it to him. So I brought him a load of wood and when he asked how much I just asked him to do a favor for someone some time. I drove away feeling happier than I had in long, long time. And I drove away thinking about the message you spread. Thanks brother.

There’s a flip that happens, and this has recently happened for me: Given the right mindset and determination, you stop thinking of sobriety as an inconvenience to be endured, but a feeling to be enjoyed. In part because the "un-hireable" are always needed to do the hard work; no questions asked as long as you show up and work hard. Unfortunately a dozen folks that I need to share this video with I no longer have contact with; fired or moved on. January 17th was my father's birthday buckin , and all my life he told me this same story about how alcohol and drugs was destroying him and when I was born my grandfather had a conversation with him about his drinking and he gave it all up right then and there and for 30 years I had the best dad ever and listening to your story here made me feel a little bit like it was him telling me his story one more time , i can't speak for anyone else here but thanks buckin for this video I have tears in my eyes right now because it almost made me feel like he was on the other side of this camera and also my uncle Odie who was also a tree man for lewis tree service in my same thing 40 years sober at his passing it's because of both of them that I got bit by the power saw bug (my first saw was a jonsered 2172 out of my uncle's collection brand new never been used ) and that I found your channel this is by far the most near and dear video to my heart on all of youtube thank you for sharing your story with us this truly touched my heart in a way I didn't know was possible I never realized how much I missed hearing those stories they kept me from making those mistakes and I'm so sure that this will help many others to not make those mistakes it's absolutely a great video for kids if I hadn't been told these stories when I was a kid I never would have had the knowhow to keep control of myself or put myself in check so as not to make the mistakes . I want you to know buckin you are a magnificent wonderful human being right now I feel like my dad and my uncle are sitting here watching this story with me and I can't thank you enough for giving me that I miss them so much and your story and videos make me feel as if theyre not so far off anymore thank you buckin I needed this . I hope you followed through. It's the best decision you can make. I started drinking and using pills when I was younger and over the course of 6-7 years I took more and more pills and eventually I ended up homeless and literally sleeping under a bridge. Things kinda sneak up on you and spiral quickly. I've been clean 14 years and I have kids and a house and a stable job and I'm thankful I took that step. You have to want to do it though, no one else can make that choice for you or it won't work.

Hey buckin, i am new to the industry starting my journey as a wood man fairly late. I had twin girls 3 years ago and i have been transitioning into the man i want to be for them slowly, but i had no career that fit the dad life, so i made the decision im going to do what i want to do and enjoy, and become the man i want to be. Watched videos for a couple years before making the leap. Ive been watching your content lately and really enjoy learning the knowledge you so kindly share. But, this video really hit home for me on so many levels. It was inspiring and motivating. I appreciate you sharing. I wish i could work for someone like you for a while to learn the tricks of the trade, but this is the next best thing. Keep them coming and know that you are touching peoples hearts with your positive energy and messages. Thank you doesnt convey enough, my level of gratitude.

Good day, Billy Ray, Hello, my name is Lleyton Verbeeke. Thank you for this video! While I don't have a drug or alcohol problem myself, so many things you say resonate with me. I used to feel alone in thinking that way, but your videos have been incredibly enlightening. Every time I watch, I learn more about how I should be, how I should speak, and how I should work. I truly appreciate that. Please keep sharing your wise words and those beautiful trees, and btw don't forget to restore that pickup-I can learn from that as well. Thanks to you, my friends often wonder, "How does he know all that?" and it's partly because of your influence. If I'm ever in the neighborhood, I hope we can have a good conversation. Kind regards from Belgium, Lleyton Verbeeke

Buckin’, I’m 50 years old I’ve been sober for 17 years. I know exactly what your talking about. The best thing I’ve ever done in my life is quit drinking. I wouldn’t be alive today if I hadn’t. My last drink was on September 19th 2015. I haven’t had a drop since. Quitting was the best thing I ever did. In the beginning it wasn’t easy when around old friends, colleagues, and family. None of them could believe I wouldn’t even drink one beer. Each time it got easier and now I never even give it a thought. I haven’t missed it. I’m a much better father, son, brother, and even grandfather now. You too can do it my friend. You can. Here is the simple prayer I said very often. “God please help me” I felt no need to say more, God knows all the details already.

Buckin', I like stories that have a happy ending. I too had a alcohol problem, I switched to marijuana and was able to quit drinking. It wasn't long before I decided to stop smoking and start living again, and I did. Life's not easy but that's because I'm still working thru issues I have from not having my Dad in my life. I've figured this out, Life's all about the choices we make. My choice counts, my choice influences others. It's easier to build a boy than mend a man. Since watching your channel, I've found a love for axes, chainsaw and firewood that I share with my son. Life can't keep me down or hold me back any longer, I'm going forward because there's people in my life that need to see me succeed as I realize i am a role model, and I want to be a good one. It doesn't matter how you start life but it's how you live it and finish that counts. This too shall pass, one day at a time.

Buckin, you are a powerful speaker and highly effective communicator. What you say clearly comes from the heart but few people are capable of reaching so deeply into their souls and describing their thoughts and feelings in such a meaningful and relevant way. Hello, I got to know you bc the man in my life luvs u. So he showed you to me one day. Today he watched this video. He didn’t know this side of your life. He also “has a problem “ and I too, left him about 3 1/2 years ago bc of his drinking. Well, today he sent me this video. He told me tonight it’s made him want to do something about this white elephant in the room. So I watched your video. He doesn’t know it yet but I’ve been attending Al-anon meeting to cope with and try to understand this issue. You, Billy, are a blessing and a beam of light. You are an inspiration. And I know you are not in the business of “spiritual speech’ that’s just not you. But you have a message. I’m so grateful that you have reached people through your openness and being so honest and transparent about your life your connection with your viewers. And bc of it, you are reaching other people in need. Without even realizing it, you are a vessel through which you can reach someone who is lost to find their way. My man was so moved by your simplicity and openness. I don’t know if tomorrow he will still feel the same way, but he became inspired and touched by you. To the point of mentioning it. And I am in awe and gratitude of your courage and honesty. God Bless you and your family. Truly, you are in my prayers.

Hello Billy! What a wonderful surprise to see you actually answered my comment! I didn’t expect you to even bother. My man told me that he had an earnest talk with Jesus and said he was going to do something about the white elephant…that he didn’t need any outside help. Just him and his Maker. I haven’t stopped attending Al-Anon, it’s saved me from insanity. Bc unfortunately he hasn’t stopped and I just can’t do anything about it. Very painful to see someone you love wasting their health away. But if you’re not ready, you’re not ready. He lost his younger brother to drinking and it scares me when I think that this can happen to him also . So sad and devastating. He’s actually written you a few times and he even wanted to go see you and spend some time with you. (He is Monks Saw Mill). That’s how inspiring you are to him. Through your videos and your transparency, you are doing so much good! I ask God take care and keep you in His presence so you can continue to do the good you do! Thank you so much for acknowledging my comments. Very much appreciated. You and your family continue to be in my prayers. ❤ 2:58

Man, your message is changing peoples’ lives. Keep at it. Never stop never give up. That hard grit in the bottom of your stomach, that never quit attitude that keeps us going when we feel like we can’t, the pure and unadulterated relentlessness of it all... doesn’t hold a candle to the power of the light shown from one human to another. Call me a hippy, a freak, whatever.. without each other, we’ll never make it. Love u brother

Several years back I heard the term "addictive personality", and knowing about it brought a lot of things into focus. Some of those risky situations that you find yourself chasing probably stems (in part) from that, or at least mine do. You find some way to challenge yourself, and the rush of endorphins that you get while chasing that challenge is similar to the chemical highs that people get from doing drugs or buzzing on alcohol. Fortunately, God has graced us with means of getting that "fulfilling high" that can benefit others while allowing us to keep chasing it. The hardest trick for me personally is managing it-chasing that challenge (and the "high" that comes from chasing and completing the challenge) all the time can be every bit as destructive both to us and our loved ones as if we were just doing drugs or other bad habits.

I love it buckin! old alcoholic myself. found a treatment center (outpatient so i could still work and not lose myhouse), but that center, and AA saved my life! I'm a better man than I ever thought I could have been. It's still hard sometimes . I call it " the beer anxiety"..... I still get a case of the beer anxiety sometimes.... i pour some black coffee, and just know that I need to get busy. shop project, out cruising timber, cutting firewood, building fence, something, anything! Need to get busy and not have time to focus on it, or I'll cave. If I stop to think, the anxiety will over come me. I cant give in to its power, and just learned to realize I can feel it coming, and its a sign I'm sitting too idel. Dont give it a chance! The powerlessness Alcohol can cause it unbelieveable! My wife doesnt drink, she never understood it. I been there buddy, glad you came out the other side! totally relate to the "nitro in the viens". thats excactly what its like! Good for you brother!
