“Don’t justify your existence to anyone” True words of wisdom, buckin Billy Ray
@stephenmahlstedt72763 жыл бұрын
Buckin', you're probably one of the only people that could hold my attention for 50 minutes while telling a story. It's very inspiring. You have an amazing attitude. If only more people could emit such positive energy out into the world like you do. Years ago I decided to drop off social media entirely, but I love watching KZbin videos to learn as much as possible in life, and I vowed that I would never say anything negative in a comment. If I don't have anything positive to say, I don't say it, even when it's tempting to correct or critique someone. A negative comment equals negative energy, and man, that's not what humanity needs right now. Keep on keepin' on, Billy. I'm glad you survived that accident and can share some of your stories and mad skills with us.

You may have just inspired me to stop getting upset about political stuff on KZbin. I can sometimes get kind of mean with the idiocy I see on here. I like your philosophy though. I think I’ll try it. Cheers

Your statement, "I should be alive!" spoke to me deeply. Had an aortic dissection in January 2017, you get tired of hearing all the surgeons and doctors saying you should be dead. I am an engineer by education and career, 59 years young own four power saws ans would rather run them as eat! God Bless Brother.

I just found this amazing channel randomly sitting in my youtube feed. It's amazing for several reasons, but especially due to the most important reason. Mr. Smith is a tremendous example for anyone and everyone to follow. He speaks a very honest and pure brand of truth not often seen or heard these days. He is joyful and exuberant about his passion for being an axeman, a father and in general for his approach to life. Plain and simple, he reminds his viewers of what is important in life. He speaks to the heart and soul of my being. I really hope more people not only see and hear his message(s) but truly listen. Thank you Mr. Smith.

I still have trouble talking about my accident, even though it was way back in early 2003. I admire that you can talk about this. The universe decided that it wasn't your time to go and I think we're all glad you are here and that we have you here on youtube. As you described this and choked up a bit, I choked up with you. Thank you for telling us your story. If I haven't said it lately, you have changed my life in many ways, just because of your attitude. I am forever indebted to you for that.

A beautiful young woman(early 20s) lost her life. She was jogging in a state park 20 minutes from my home and had a tree fall on her just last week. Some will say " oh how awful" but I choose to think. What a wonderful way to go! Out enjoying life in the great woods. Maybe a better title for this video would have been..." The day I was given another chance at life and how I have now chosen to live each day!" I have broken over 30 bones in my 45 years on Earth. I ache some days more then others but you and your subs keep my spirit alive each and everyday! Wow Buckin, I told you yesterday I’ve been watching your vids around the clock since finding your channel. You may not see this or believe it, but I smashed L3, L4 and L5 getting thrown out of a hot rod mustang I was test driving as an auto mechanic then at 2:30 in the morning 40 years ago. Feel it every day. My angel was a guy that was up late in bed and heard the car quit running (it was loud like a piped 572 Husky - headers only, no mufflers) and he literally woke up his wife and said “those boys got hurt, I gotta go check on them.” Drove to where he thought he heard the car, saw the car on its side with lights shining up in the trees and called for help as I lay in the ditch only able to crawl with my arms same as you. Been blessed every day since to be on this side of the dirt and believe I was meant to find your channel to remind me again.

You just have a spirit about you that is very authentic and comes through the videos, its easy to see how kind and hard working you are, what a loving father, loving husband, and loving son you are (I saw the old man in a couple videos!!). Always so willing and happy to share your vast knowledge with us simple folks lol. Every time I watch your videos its like a breath of fresh air. I have a few problems, but like you, I hate complainers! I like to be happy so I AM happy. A few years ago I totaled my car in the middle of the day. I crawled out and was sitting on the ground while a paramedic took my blood pressure. She said people in small fender benders had higher blood pressure than me and was shocked at how low mine was. You have to choose what you watch. But at its best, it is worth more than real living. Buckin' Billy Ray Smith's story makes life clearer and more precious. Great story Buckin. I can totally relate. Back in 1980, I had a similar thing happen to me, but I was a lot luckier then you were. I was working with my stepson falling a tree and I was looking up watching it go when an alder snag came down and smacked me on top of my head. Knocked me straight down into a sitting position. The tree was about 6" in diameter where it hit my plastic hard hat and splitting it in two which saved my head. I was knocked out for a few seconds. The thing that saved me from getting squashed was the snag landed on top of an old growth stump. When I came to I looked up and the tree was about a foot over my head. Falling is a dangerous job for sure.

Thanks Billy. You answered my question on bar length on the 372. I fell over 40 feet, but had my best friends with me (workers). Very fortunate! You are truly blessed. You've got God on your side. But that's good, because now you're giving back. You've got a loyal and faithful community. But you're the strong oak in centre of the vast forest that you've created. I broke my vertibra and 4 ribs, told I wouldn't walk again. I came back. Felling again, and will never give it up. It's you and your community that help me every day. I'm constantly in pain, but smile when I think of what you've created. Thankyou for sharing something that I find difficult to talk about. If you're ever in the UK, I've got to meet you. It could happen to any logger. We live on a wing and a prayer. I actually broke 5 vertibra. Keep logging, the love is there. Who else will look after nature? God loves us. Keep your chin up Buckin army, look after people around you and just be kind. Thanks again Billy.

My long suffering wife thinks we're twins! When you said "it's character building". That's what I say every time we break ourselves (very often). But I think we're right! Keep your community and friends. You're our rock! Buck' on my man.

Thanks. I got a telephone pole with my best buddy at the wheel in 1982. Well over 100 mph. Was thrown out of the back hatch of a 280 Z. It left a mark. 40’years later, I still struggle with the consequences of that night. Knee is shot, hip is shot, back is a mess, but I get up everyday at 2:45 and go to work. Your comments about not complaining struck home. Your right. Let’s just live. Eh? From a guy south of you in Washington. Thanks brother. You rock.

Billy Ray your the man! What a inspiration story- thank you for sharing with me. It’s helped me more than you will ever know. I’m a tree climber in Hawaii- so it’s mostly climbing coconut trees and trimming the nuts by hand with a cane knife. So it’s not the same as your job- but you have motivated me more than you will ever know- Thank you very much- keep up the great work! And thanks again

I logged for twenty years from 75 to 95. All I ever wanted to be was a logger but sadly the spotted owl won out over us here in Oregon I have been beat up, seen friends killed and injured, cut leg, glanced by a tree, rolled by a root wad and sir, much like you I can relive and feel all the emotions a person goes through. I am happy you are still among us and continue to be safe. By the way, another person I follow is Bjarne Butler. He dropped your name so now I am a subscriber to your channel. I will always be a logger at heart. Take care sir!

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this video!! I really like the way you decribe the accident, but even more the way you decribe the aftermath. Many years ago i had an almost identical accident, so in a way it almost feels like you are telling my story as well, witch made me enjoy this video even more. Even if it brings back a lot of bad memories for me.. I don't like talking about my accident that much, i guess because i feel like i am complaining talking about this. Neither my busted back, neck, leg or head is going to be better if i complain. This is what i always tell people who are making a point of me, not complaining, after what i have been trough. I guess it is the same for you, judging by what you say in the video. I can sense that you tell this story from the bottom of your heart, i wish i was half as good as telling my story as you are, but i'm not. So again, thank you vey much for telling your story. Keep up the good work and be safe!! (Sorry for my bad english, i'm Norwegian)

I am thankful you shared your story with us. I also had an incident but not as dramatic as yours. I have shared my contact with my wife about you way before you came out with you telling about this. How this guy can do what he does cutting these trees down with precision! Sooo impressed!. I'm in NC and and don't get into cutting down these big trees....too old for that. Love your inspiration!!!and all in my mind it is AWESOME to find you and your stories. I am envious of you to have such a positive outlook!....I need your energy!!! Thank you!

Billy, I have been watching your videos for a while now. I'm a welder/ fabricator. No logger. But I love watching you with your hot rod saws and how you drop trees. You make it look easy. Anyway, I held on to every word how you got hurt. It made me really think about if I have a crappy day at work and get pissed off about it. Then I listen to your story and how positive you are after all of that. I hear it in all of your videos. My so called bad days are nothing compared to that day you just told us about. You are 100% inspiration to all of us on looking at life with such enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing that story and making us really think about whats really important . I'm going to look at things a different now!! So for that, I thank you. Jeff

It was an experience with God my friend. He sees right where we are and knows exactly what we are going through. It is his good pleasure to bless us. I have had experiences with him as well and have felt his spirit for myself around 23 years old for the first time. I have not been able to look at life the same since. He does not force us to believe. But when we truly believe that he is there and confess that, we shall be saved. After being begged to go to church one day I had a strong desire to go pray and I did. I was about to stand to my feet and one of the last things I said was that I always believed in him and I asked why I had never got to feel him. Before I could stand to my feet he let me do just that. I was covered in the spirit of God and I started bawling like a baby and saying thank you again and again. Every bad emotion was gone all at once and I felt Love. God is love. Hearing about God is great but feeling his spirit for ourselves is something we all need to do more than anything else. And we can if we choose to. God is far more real than a lot of people get to experience. I know that without a shadow of a doubt. But without faith it is impossible to come to God. He is so good to us all and he will accept whosoever will. God bless you and I am glad he brought you through to provide for your family.

keep being yourself it's beautiful and the best thing for the world. I'm over 60 and I've just started climbing trees safely? I've done more than most and loved every moment of it. Gone from hermit to extrovert, been lucky in life far beyond average, (not a broken bone yet), mostly because I've listened to others. Keep posting your wisdom it may hit the ears of millions of useless people, but it also crashes into the ears of people who need and value the info. Thanks for sharing.
