@@youssefbouzidi could be a way of fearing the unknown but that's not how I'm examining it. My point is simple...it doesn't matter, things are going to happen to us with our without our permission, consent, awareness. That's part of being alive and accepting that reality as it is moment by moment can liberate us from the hope trap and fear . Fearing the unknown is pointless because everything is unknown. We only have expectations of the unexperienced events of our future. As humans we have a tendency to invest in the outcome instead of the action that results in the outcome. That could be considered the expectation known to us as hope. We should abandon hope and invest in the actions that we take in the present instead of casting wishes into the unknown...because there is no such thing as fate.

Pain is unavoidable, but we can avoid suffering, because the suffering is a product of our own mind not from outside. Buddha says ‘You can’t avoid the first arrow (pain), but can avoid the second arrow (suffering). If we believe there’s always a way to overcome suffering - fear of suffering can be eliminated. Fear of pain still remains anyway, it is somewhat necessary actually.

How can we learn to not have fear ?
@anonangel1938
@anonangel1938 Жыл бұрын
@@crazypato3752 Great question. From personal experience and from observing others, if you fear something esp intensely it’s cuz: •you have some sort of insecurity such as feeling inferior to it •trauma such as trying to protect yourself (like from a heartbreak) •unmet needs (reassurance, confirmation which can be caused by trauma) •control, trying to control everything and outcomes that’s why when you let go, you’ll realize how much less you fear cuz you’re kinda like whatever. As you work through those wounds, figure out why you fear it and begin to heal, they’ll fade. Remember those fears are thoughts (nothingness), they’re not real; even if they’ve happened, there’s the possibility of things getting better so even if you had a bad day, it can still get better it doesn’t have to stay that way. If you still worry, acknowledge the possibility of it never happening and Just like how the worst case is possible, so is the best, try to be open/lean into the best. Don’t try to obsessively control the fear (such as by panicking and being like “no, I shouldn’t be think that, stop!!!); see it from this perspective, an annoying little sibling trying to protect you from any possible harm outside by blocking the door. acknowledge it, it’s just trying to protect you even if it causes more harm than good, but also acknowledge that it’s causing more harm (by holding you back from joy, your potential, etc.) and that the best case scenario is more than possible. Like “thanks kid for protecting me, but you gotta trust me on this that I’ll be fine. In fact all these great possibilities can happen like getting that desired result faster than expected which can lead to this and that cool experience.” Get the gist? I still struggle sometimes but going back to wisdom/realizations like these helps ease everything. Hope this helps🖤

I got few takeaways from this 1- Be in the mindset of "come what may, I can handle it" 2-Why has a problem come to you? because only you can handle it. The next time your mind worries you with fear of the future, tell it "If it comes to me, I can very well handle it" No pain, trouble, problem or challenge is thrown at you which you cannot handle or manage.

For years I have lived in fear. A crippling fear of loosing control, specially of myself. A fear of loosing everything that felt important to me like my reputation, my desired accomplishments or even my loved ones. But with time I have discovered that importance and fear off loss is an illusion of the mind that is trying to control everything, because of past negative experience. Is like the mind is always trying to prepare you for the worst outcome, so it projects you in negative scenarios or makes you remember past events that made you feel in a certain way, so you become obsess on finding the solution to your negative emotions ironically bringing those emotions back to you because you are not letting go of them. you don't trust source energy, you deny a higher power that can restore you, just like when you get a cut in you skin that heals with time you are not letting time heal you, instead you are going against the flow of time that can only manifest as now. you need to let go of the energy that you are holding in your body so what you want can be manifested. But the mind. The mind is tricky. it creates tension. not that tension is all bad tension can be exciting if used wisely by applying focused and constructive thinking but there most be a balanced, between the being and the doing of things. If the mind were to be a magician, fear of loosing control is its greatest illusion yet, because there is no control in trying but in letting go, that is were true control lives. just like this words that flow through me and around me. like a winded spirit that have just escaped the prison of resistance, this are words of time. Why? why have I waited son long for this freedom? perhaps. perhaps it is time what determines everything. for this I go just like the wind of this words and leave with the burning question till i meet again with myself in the future. _ Noelkinz

"I will not follow fear within the world. Humanity is governed by waves of fear that draw people here and there, waves of fear that dominate their actions, their thinking, their conclusions, their beliefs and their assumptions. Do not follow the waves of fear that move across the world. Allow yourself to observe the world from this point of stillness and certainty. In this way, you will be able to contribute to the world and not be its victim only. You are here to give, not to judge, and in stillness you are without judgment upon the world. Recognize, then, the waves of fear, but do not let them touch you, for in Knowledge they cannot touch you because Knowledge is beyond all fear." (Steps to Knowledge, Marshall Vian Summers)

Thank you for this video. In keeping with Buddha’s teaching, I would say that your conclusion makes sense to me in this way: 1) The first noble truth , also called the truth of suffering, which is life/existence is suffering because all things are impermanent, isn’t exactly the same as pain being necessary per se, but one can interpret this as “if one exists then one necessarily has to experience pain and dissatisfaction” 2) the third noble truth, aka the truth of the cessation of suffering, says that there is an end to pain and dissatisfaction, so in a way, all pain is ultimately bearable because there is an end to it; we gain wisdom about our relationship with suffering, and how we can let go and gain freedom from it, then ultimately fear will not dominate us...but easier said than done! 😊🙏

@@rickyspanish4792 So there are four noble truths, with the second one being the truth of the origin/cause of suffering (dukkha). The origin/cause of suffering is craving, this is what binds you to things that are impermanent, therefore unsatisfactory and painful when you lose the things you crave/enjoy. The fourth noble truth is the truth of the way leading to the cessation of suffering, which is as follows: 1) Right View: Knowing that everything is impermanent, unsatisfactory, and not-self or “not-soul”, meaning that we have no internal essence…we are made up of elements and states of mind that are always changing, fading away, and ceasing. 2) Right Intention: non-greed, non-hatred, non-harm 3) Right Speech: no lying, malicious speech, harsh speech, etc. 4) Right Action: for lay-people it means not killing, not stealing, not engaging in sexual misconduct, no false speech (again), and no engaging with intoxicants 5) Right Livelihood: not selling weapons, or stealing, or selling intoxicants/drugs, or trafficking people, slaughtering animals, and more. 6) Right Effort: effort to prevent and get rid of unwholesome mental states; effort to generate and maintain wholesome mental states (like kindness and joy) 7) Right Mindfulness: establishing proper mindfulness/awareness of the body, feelings, mind, and principles/habits of thinking 8) Right Samadhi/Concentration: achieving proficiency in meditative states that lead to joy, pleasure, bliss, and equanimity Let me know if you have any questions! 🙏

But that it is more of a 'property of this reality'. Maybe I can now learn to accept it more as such instead of fighting it. Thanks

However if you see a bear, or a man with a gun or anything life threatening/potentially painful, fear alerts your entire system to be prepared. Inevitable isn’t necessary; but processing is. Sometimes things haunt us when we can’t accept they happened, denied in our brains. I have that. It’s made me ashamed of myself at the most fundamental level of even existing. Inflicting pain on yourself won’t make you stronger, it’s just a product of ironically, escaping what was unacceptable. If anything, it makes you all the more hurt and more sensitive. Think of it this way; when you don’t treat your pipes well, you clog them, they fill up and then they cause leakages and they’re infested with toxicity. That’s just like your emotions which you keep pressing down. They’ll show themselves in ugly ways and people will leave you because you can’t accept yourself. Having a sense of self, confidence, stability, requires a lot of gratefulness and humility. Instead of a crazy high expectation of yourself which just fuels your hatred for all that you are. It’s like.. you can’t accept you aren’t perfect, it bothers you too much do you just keeping pushing and breaking and you don’t grow; you regress. For whatever you may have. To be without a hair of shame is really the pinnacle; to think we were all children, and forgot. People who can take criticism and can handle their emotions with discipline are people who are healthy at the core. Happy, fulfilled and confident people.

The two things said on this video that when fate gives pain its only when it is necessary and bearable is absolutely true. Being a Muslim myself my mother has always preached me that Allah Tala gives only that much of pain which His creation that is us, can bear, which consequently gives the strength to bear the pain. :)

after I watched and listened carefully with more awareness, fear is coming from our inability about what we can't control,and deep down from our hearts we won't accept that something we can't control not only about pain but also about something we don't have the knowledge before,so anxiety and depression always caught us. but after what you explained it,now I have a different perspective,we don't know about future,so that held us from grow because the uncertainty ahead of us,but what about this we try something that we afraid to try to make us more aware about what is bearable and unbearable,and make us growth. remember what we really want is growth not just something that we desire.

So basically, fear will always give you pain, however, by letting yourself bear that pain, you gain knowledge, the more you learn, the more you can avoid suffering, thus attaining freedom. Fear blinds us from taking action and staying in our comfort zone. It’s an illusion that stagnates our growth.

It’s important to consider that fear is not just in the mind- it’s in the body. Humans are hard-wired with specific parts of the brain and endocrine system to produce fear as a survival tool. When the brain perceives a threat, it triggers a hormone response- essentially drugging you with hormones that make instant, energetic reactions possible. This is the reason a 70 year old woman can lift a car off of a baby. This is how people are able to run for their lives. Perhaps attachment to the idea of life is a problem. We are hard-wired to survive, but we are also emotionally attached to the idea. Considering the body’s determination to survive, fear is very useful if you’re living in constantly in situations that are immediately dangerous to your physical body. Unfortunately, our brains do a poor job of differentiating between immediate physical threat and prolonged emotional threat. Fear causes suffering when one encounters prolonged emotional fear. Fear in those situations can best be reduced to the intensity of a phone notification. It’s your body telling you your perception has encountered threat. I believe you can negotiate with fear. That you can use the body’s natural expression of fear best by making decisions about its intensity. Think of your fear as an internal person. Their job is to ring an alarm bell when they perceive threat, then dump the adrenaline cocktail if they consider it a threat to survival. You can negotiate what qualifies as a threat. You can show your fear when it is useful and when it is reaching past its usefulness, causing suffering. It also pays to mention that having experienced fear creates connection by developing the ability to experience compassion for others who suffer from it. I think fear and anger are as biologically unavoidable as having blood or a liver. I think when we try to amputate parts of ourselves, we become less healthy. Perhaps an approach of acceptance, boundaries, and negotiation would cause less suffering. Please feel free to argue this point, as I’m exploring and would appreciate others’ perspectives.

6:37 - This is the heart of the video. For all else, you can learn, understand, and accept. For these "...two things that have to be true to eliminate [this] fear", you must have faith. If you cannot accept these as fundamental to existence, the entire framework fails. If you seek fundamental truth uncoupled from faith... so do I.

First - necessary for what? Second - how can one accept that pain is "necessary" for anything/anyone if she/he also needs to accept that regardless of how they react to it or which conclusions they make, the fate can always bring more pain? In this context I would rather describe it as "unavoidable", something which is just there as one of the defining materials in life. The good news - based on this logic, pleasure should be just as fundamental and unavoidable. Regardless, thank you for the video and your thought-provoking take on this question.

I think that those two assumptions about pain do not hold true: 1) pain isn't always necessary; 2) pain isn't always bearable. But at the same time, fear indeed limits your ability to learn because you are fixed on the sources of fear. I find it more reasonable to feel fear in dangerous situations and got out of it when it is over to learn from experience.

Exactly! Fate is a fickle bitch that rewards the cruel and punishes the innocent for the hell of it. Human progress is often made by looking at "fate" square in the eye and finding new and more creative methods of telling her "no." It's my "fate" to be a dirt poor peasant and starve? It's my child's "fate" to die a painful death in infancy from disease? If we believed that, we;'d still be in the Dark Ages! If all is in the hands of fate, then why bother with acts of charity and mercy when she's just going to do whatever the hell she pleases? Fate is like the casino house - always wins in the end, but there's no reason to trust her when she proves to be so damn cruel and unreliable.

Necessity of pain can't really be determined. What we humans say about it is according to our own perception. Same goes for if one can bear it. Earlier with not much medical knowledge, people used to have surgeries without anesthesia and all. Nowadays people are thinking about finding a way to have painless pregnancies. Also maybe pain in some cases in necessary for death, if we consider death a fact. People are getting weaker for sure.

I would say that I agree that not all pain is bearable. I have often felt and experienced unbearable pain. But I have come to realize that if you experienced unbearable pain, and are still alive, you exist, and continue to exist, then the pain is bearable. You may think that it is unbearable, but that is just what you think. Unless you die from the pain itself, that is the only pain that would truly be unbearable.

This is one of the best short videos on the essence of the teachings of the Buddha that I have ever seen. My only quibble is in the choice of the word “fate”. Most modern Buddhists would agree with that choice. But there are no arahants in the world today. At the time of the Buddha, there were many. Where did they go? IMHO, the choice to kneel to the God of “fate” killed them all. Remember, the Buddha was a warrior who sought to put an end to old age, sickness and death. Those who kneel to the God of fate, cover their eyes to that truth. They seek an easier path to victory. A man who desires to put an end to old age, sickness and death indeed seeks “understanding” above all else. He, indeed, seeks to take risks, experience pain, and use that pain to increase his understanding. However, such men are driven to seek balance between (1) the desire to expand one’s understanding by making moves into the unknown and (2) the desire to avoid making moves which are so risky that they may lead to victory of the very foe he is seeking to conquer: old age, sickness and death. The word “fate” has a tone of “surrender” which is too reminiscent of the corruption which eradicated the arahants for my tastes. Warriors do not “surrender”. They fight with the intention to win. “viriya” is missing in modern Buddhism.

I've been approaching similar conclusions lately, and this video complements my growth perfectly. I have a calling in me to stop living in fear. The question is: I'm now realizing that fear has been my Bible throughout my whole life. I've established relationships, goals, habits and most of my personality based on fear. I'm now realizing that something that seemed like just another cute self improvement tip is actually a major shift in my life. I will have to change the way I perceive and react to everything. How will I end up from this? Life will not be what I know as of now. This could make me fearful. I won't anymore.

Thanks for that contract with fear. As always that pain is bearable. Because I am going to learn why that hurt me and within that understanding, I am managing myself free from guilt, shame, or anger toward it. Which gives me a free mind without the burdens I had within my fear of fate. But sometimes it takes a long time to understand why you are fearing so much in life. Then take all kinds of preoccupied measures to overcome it within an understanding and without the easy way around it to just ignore it. It's hard not all get explained and done the correct way towards each other. We show less empathy towards that person because he always distrusts the situation at hand in its fear. Well, it got something to do with nerve endings and counter-reaction in the part we had no fate because someone already gave us a reason to fear them. Maybe an aggressive outcome of someone getting too agitated in life and with one word wrong the sword was mightier than the pen. Which can leave people in fear as well by the tyrant's hand no one is saved. I guess we have to overcome that and sometimes it is better to say sorry and put the blame on yourself. If you have become that tyrant at hand. I know from long past experience I always train myself till every inch of my body is burning and burdened. If some joker comes around and pushes it a little too far. He might get a blow in the face as well. That isn't really nice of me but it is normal if you are overburdened in taking too much shit on your plate. Then you are easily agitated in life and that can make you a tyrant as well for some folks who don't take life too seriously as I tend to do. People can lie and just make a fool out of you and me. I know it ain't exactly right to act as I did. But when are you gonna learn to let it be instead of provoking me in getting my nasty appearance out? Exactly the cat and mice game again. Wait till I get my mallet and knock you on the head. Let me see how much you like it then clown. People should know their limits cause that is exactly how far the fear would go and how to understand the why behind it all. Because of one stupid little joke in your eyes but I wasn't really into it to be treated badly. So shall we call it even then I withdraw my sword and change it with a cup of coffee or some nice presents? To soften the blow in some understandable conversation without being hardened in the mind again. Cause all things tend to get much worse than it is. In some ways, silence speaks for itself if you didn't like the way you had been treated. But then again people tend to forget or go on with something else if they fear the outrage of someone. Fear shows us our limitations and understanding shows us how to overcome the things in fear as we are willing to change our fate toward it. It's a cycle of life in knowing ourselves and what provokes us to fear's contract. Try to overcome yourself within reason and understanding otherwise ask for help or get some clues on how to overcome that fear of yourself.

I'm a Christian now but I was once a Buddhist and got to the point in my masters training where I could use meditation to perceive another dimension to contact and interact with spirit guides and learn from them, one of them claiming to be Set the Egyptian god of the desert, not to mention when I first met him he greeted me by trying to punch me and he in fact kicked my ass. Eventually my human master taught me to fight off demonic spirits by making them come to us and confronting them in a meditative state. In one confrontation a shining light saved me from full possession I believed it was my will overcoming the demon and I thought well these guys must be the good guys I mean were fighting evil right? and light is protecting me and I'm being told I can become a god this must be the truth I will become a god for god so I can be there for him like he has us. One night I'm watching KZbin and I come across a video about a guy who said he was in an illuminati family and he wanted out or something and he said the Egypt god of death Anubis tired to kill him but Jesus Christ intervened and the man survived and became a Christian. I wasn't sure if it was true or not but it gave me a question, am I sure these beings and my master teaching me are really my allies I thought maybe Set would try and kill me if I decided to leave, his personality definitely didn't convince me he wouldn't. I continued researching and finding more things about it and I got less and less trusting worried in my mind that Set knew my change of heart I was terrified. I had become an enemy but I had nothing left in my life except the training and I once said if this training is a lie id end my own life. at night I cried once and prayed to every last god of the religions I knew and begged them to save me from this evil, I was desperate. Couple days later I was meditating in a park trying to center myself, and that's when it happened I heard a voice somehow say "I am the Christ Jesus, the one teaching you is a liar and those guides are demon just as you suspect, leave them accept my blood on the cross and I will protect you from them." I accepted on the spot. he then told me to head home and that about halfway home you will come across something on the ground that you have great interest in. and I am in a wheelchair mind you so he explained to me someone will be there to pick it up for me. I went home and halfway there I find a Doctor Who playing card, which I still have to this day. to my surprise I looked up and see someone walking towards me and I asked them to hand me the card and they did just as Christ told me. realizing the truth I was angry at my guide and my master they lied to me for years. that same night I meditated to confront Set myself and I attacked him and he nearly had me and that was when the golden armor of god formed on my body and then Set struggle to fight me at all he stood in front of me and looked over my shoulder with the look of horror and ran away. I turned to see Jesus standing there my mind was unable to see his face similar to the pillar of smoke Moses mentioned expect my mind had a modern take on it and just saw it burled out like on TV. Jesus has darker skin and his hair is shorter. and then I was a Christian and realized that time the light saved me from that demon wasn't me it was Jesus Christ he was there in secret the whole time. after a while of praying and research I found out what I was dealing with was a kundalini spirit it basically made me addicted to its teaching by giving me a dopamine hit it was like getting high it gave me visions so it drove me to trust it but Jesus broke me free from the lie so I follow him and believe in the blood of Christ. Buddha himself wants you to do the same they lied to him too don't be deceived by the Kundalini snakes they are deceivers. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
