I just wanted to say a huge thanks for all your tutorial videos, they are simply the best on KZbin. I recently built my first quad and without your videos on the Multiwii series I really would of been doomed. Because of your clear and easy to understand advice in your videos I have successfully managed to set up my Multiwii controller complete with all gps functions, return to home, altitude hold and autolevel. All of which I had absolutely no clue about until I watched your videos. Thanks again and keep it up, I'm relying on you haha. Cheers buddy!

Great job! I made my 1st purchase of FPV equipment a couple of weeks ago (Quanum Pro goggles & AOMway antennas), but since then watched several reviews of the Cyclops and thinking maybe I chose wrong. So, glad to see you recommend both! Will definitely follow your list for rest of the rig.Thanks for clearly stating your preferences - most helpful.

The Aomway Camera and Vtx has a fish eye lens in it. Can this be switched easily for a wide angle len? I`m not even sure i would even want to change lens`s? But I want to be able to see as much as possible as I learn to fly fpv with googles. I am going to put this on a Conscendro S Glider. But I also have a Chroma Drone that has gps that i would like to rig up to use googles with. Thank you for your video, I was having second thoughts about fpv with googles until I came across your video! The first set up is just what i was looking for. Easy!!!

Thanks for the video Painless. I find many of your videos really helpful, your channel is one of the best out there. I'm trying to get in to FPV, and I've got a simple legal question about the PowerOutput of the AOMWAY Camera, being 200mW. I'm reading in the BMFA website than the maximum legal is 25mW.... so what can we do if we want to use this camera legally?

I went the cyclops route and absolutely love them, for the most part. The only downside I have is the size, with them being harder to transport and they look pretty goofy. I was thinking of getting the teleporter v5 but heard some bad reviews on them. Is it worth investing in fatsharks later on or should I stick with my cyclops for a while.
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
+Twiztedmind864 there are always new products coming so I'd wait until you need to upgrade and get the latest and greatest ( or great kit at a discount when the new ones come out!) ;)

I really would like to make a purchase on the cyclops headset, but on thing holding me back is what to use for a battery and charger? I have used Blade Miro heli stuff for use and have never used a true balance charger. Is there a cheap, simple charger you could recommend for a charger? TIA
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
I'd not recommend a cheap charger as such. I've got something similar to this and it works well - www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__92016__Turnigy_B6_Compact_50W_5A_Automatic_Balance_Charger_2_6S_Lipoly_US_Warehouse_.html Best of luck!

Great video! Quick question... Any particular reason why you didn't recommend the quannum diversity receiver? I see that you have recommended two individual quannums instead.
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
No reason. The diversity Rx is good but HK missed a huge trick not adding the RSSI out to it (like the other Quanum receivers) that would allow all Quanum kit to have the ability to support diversity and super-diversity easily. This video is for those pilots looking to get into FPV at low cost. We have a video on the diversity Rx too..
@williamjames22258 жыл бұрын
+Painless360 Thank you for your reply. I'm new to the hobby and am wondering what functionalities are missed/lost as a result of no RSSI on the diversity?

The Aomway camera + VTX combo says on some sites that it can take up to +24V on its input, and on some sites it says max +5.5V for what seems to be the exact same camera with the exact same VTX module. Do you know how it is? Can it handle up to +24V or is it +5.5V the max you can connect to this camera+vtx combo?

they have a firmware update for the cyclops so you can do a quick push button to select a channel.. instead of it finding the strongest signal and thats all it will do... just googles rcgroups cyclops firmware mod.. it will bring it up.. im waiting for version 2 of them i think. i broke down and bought the version 2 pro of the HK DIY kit. hard to say no when HK flash the whole kit for 37.00 when you could not even get the Fresnel/glove upgrade for version 1 for that.. keep it up painless, you and bruce are my fav for rc raw data.. no fluff just strait up info.. which i appreciate. :)

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Just what I've been looking for. But do you mind sharing why you chose the Quantum Cyclops over the Eachine EV800?
@philliptoone8 жыл бұрын
Okay, I've been watching videos and reading forums all morning long. I finally went ahead and ordered the Cyclops. Here are the things that influenced me to go with the Cyclops: adjustable lens, foam padding, community support/hackability (firmware, video-in&out, DVR, etc). I like that the EV800 can be used as a stand alone monitor but I already have multiple monitors I've used to try to build DIY FPV googles. Now I want something the just works and hope I will be happy with the Cyclops. FYI, I also ordered a FX798T rather than the camera/transmitter recommended here because I want to build a Eachine H8 and an alternative to a Tiny Whoop.

I am going to invest into FPV but not sure if i should go for FatShark Teleporter V5 from HK (all included) or Quanum V2 pro and than add rest of the equipment. FatSharks are lot smaller and handy but looks like Quanum is giving better experience due to better and much bigger image as i concluded watching several reviews. Still not sure if the difference is really that huge tough. What would you suggest?

my fpv isnt quite working. I got the old quanum goggles (just display + black foam) rd40 40ch diversity RX 2x DYS mushroom antenna (not sure which exactly) and one 5.8ghz stick antenna on rx boscam 200mW 40ch TX and 25mW Stinger pro. (not at the same time) my signal i can find on a few channels (24 and 43 is strongest) but none of them is really stable. it comes and goes. no interferences while flying but unusable since the image vanishes constantly. also when wearing it on my head, i cant hold the remote up close. it seems like mx TX (fs-i6s) is interfering with the video RX. any ideas? dont want to spend a fortune again on stuff if i somehow get it to work.
@Painless3607 жыл бұрын
+gamerpaddy not sure comma it could be a couple of things. Make sure that your antennas are ok and double check what band frequency is being used at each end. Best of luck

i tried several channels / bands on the TX and switched trough them on RX, but none of them was useable. i now try a quanum auto-scan receiver, maybe this will work better. last resort is a cyclops

hi painless im just wondering how to power the AOMWAY Camera and Vtx all in one without supplying a battery straight to it. im planning on sticking it on the front of my quadcopter. can i power it through my pdb somehow? im using a standard maktec pdb. thanks for any help
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
I'd suggest watching the 'Quadcopter Building for beginners', series 1 and 2 as we cover this in some detail in there. If the VTx wants 12v then you can pop it onto the power outputs on the PDB, or most PDBs now have a 12v set of pins that can be handy if you want to run 4s.. Happy flying!

Does the quanum cyclops plug into the eachine LCD 5802D or is this not recommended for being able to record the fpv? Or will the quanum v2 be the best solution for achieving the recording? Maybe an issue but it was not mentioned as this was not the reviews focus.
