Hi! We're Nick and Jen, a retired military veteran of 14 years and professional dancer/entertainer at Coyote Ugly Bar. Together, we decided to sell everything and break free of the glitz, glam and chaos of city life to move off gird. We live on our 20 acres of remote land in the mountains of Southern Utah.
We’re trying to be as self sufficient as possible by installing all our own utilities and doing everything DIY with as much modern technology as can make happen. Living off grid is about the freedom to build our own path one plank at a time. Life, indeed, is Elevated Off Grid. Come along and see what life is like as we continue to build our property and adventure around Southern Utah's mountains.

That was very disappointing the last regulator didn't resolve the issue. I admire your patience and calmness about it, I'm not sure I could do the same. I hope they exchange the unit quickly for you without a lot of useless hassel. The wood storage shed is coming along great, you did a great job on it. It was sure nice seeing Buba, Rickie and Charlie having fun. Loved the final scene with you both roughhousing with Charlie. He's such a cool dog. Have a great week you guys. I would honestly just get a large toaster/countertop oven for the time being. They can do pretty much whatever the range oven could do, just on a smaller scale. And you can still fit some decent-sized pans in them. Nick would be great on Survivor too! I haven’t watched in a long time, but he seems like the type who could go far in the game… likable, and has a lot of practical skills that would make him a valuable tribe member.

Great to see someone use natural rough cut all wood, For a project kinda drives me crazy making natural wood look like factory wood cuts. I now you can and process n building wood for free. Just love the live edge natural poles/ man I wish we had that option in southern Florida. Without paying a fortune

A better and quicker solution is a spirit level. A clear tube filled with water will find an equal level if both ends are held onto the different posts. This tech is from the ancient Egyptians. It's basic physics. You could also just attach one side and then use a level to raise or lower the other side till you have a centered bubble. Lasers are pretty useless outside on a sunny day. Just set a 6-foot level on one corner of the building post and see where the bubble is set. You can repeat this process and easily find the highest or lowest point and work out from there. What I don't know about your property is what happens in that area when it rains. I refer to where the water flows in relation to your woodshed. I don't know what you did to preserve/protect the base of the posts in the ground. You can get some cement board cut it into 1-foot strips and encircle the outside base so water does not get under the outside wall. I heard you mention siding. Have you considered metal siding? It would protect you more against wildfires. It would go up quick.

*TIPS* ( T r I C k $ ) Terms, LEARNING cUrVe$ Think of Level as ALWAYS being * Side to Side * Plumb then is always Top to Bottom. Kitty Corner as the Opposites on an ANGLE ( Call it ) 45 degrees to be safe. 90 degrees is a RIGHT Angle 180 Degrees then is a Straight line. 360 degrees coming Full circle. So, What did this tell YOU ?? Posts, Top to Bottom ( BEAMS ) Right to Left ( Rafters ) are most often on an angle or PTICH. 4 /12 as was mentioned here. for every 12 inches of RUN you get *HOW MANY* Inches of Rise? Be it a Fence post, Deck Post, Corner Post, Center Post, etc. The concept stays the same. AS close to both ( LEVEL and PLUMB ) in All DIECTTIONS. Slope and Pitch are added in for Proper Drainage and Snow load Requirements many forget is a *REAL Thing * No Matter what part of the country. Water as in rain, ICE or ICE DAMS can be EXTREMELY Harmful without Ever Directly looking like much is going on ( UNTIL ) LEAKS ( ICECILES ) and Broken shingles, Vents, and Things like trim along gutters backing up, etc. Can YOU put a Square Peg in a Round hole ? Will A Nail or Screw work just as good no matter what the Need or Purpose ? Is it easier to do more on the ground before raising it all up in the air ? SCAFFOLD, Planks, Ladders , PICKS , along with a few accessories are and will be a LIFE LONG (D. I. Y. ) Hack that pays back in DIVIDENDS for decades, centuries with the proper USE and Care that is. HERE is some well needed advice. THE VOICE of REASON As ( I ) am Often called has noticed this from one and all. HURRY UP ( LETS just ) Get it Done. For there is ALWAYS time to ( DO things OVER ) Yet NEVER EVER Enough Time to Do things ( R I G H T) When Push comes to shove still. What ever YOUR particular budget is ? Only YOU know for sure. BUTT given what ( I ) have seen on these postings. BUY ONCE - Cry Once Have more rather then less options when Working on things for the long term. Examples of these things. Tape measures, Hammers, Levels, Squares, Chalk Line, Pry Bars , an Item I have not seen you directly use yet ? its called a *SPUD BAR* in different parts of the country. Be it home depot, Menards, Lowes, Harbor Freight, Ace, Many Garden centers and Such will all have a version that is a LIFE SAVER YOU will never get sick of. Post Hole diggers, Shovers, Sledge hammers, Rakes, HOES, Machetes, for those on the go. What is it I am really saying ? Best YOU Never Forget. " In the End - It All Goes Back to the Beginning " K. I. S. S. or more importantly * Keep It Simple - S. T. U. P. I. D. * Measure Twice - c U t O n C e ( Check ) Double Check ( THEN ) Check It All Over Again. A Penny Saved is Really Only a Penny Earned ( IF ) It does what is both NEEDED and Deserved. Lastly do this ONE Thing. I was enlightened in my pre-teen years by a veteran of the trades who was trying to both Share some wisdom along with Keep Ones Mind on the Duty at hand. Rule # 1 Remove Head from * B. U. T. T. * Rule # 2 ( Repeat ) Rule # 1 BUTT as in the ( A-$-$ ) of the Entire Human Race. Who does what ? Why it Matters ? Its NOT what * YOU * Know ( BUTT what those in the KNOW can both Share and Help with ( When the ATM Cards ) No longer working and the banks and Relatives are Sick and tired of BAILING YOU out of the * D. I. Y. * Disasters 101 and then some. YOUR Welcome in Advance.... Follow these simple and easy time tested and industry proven methods.
