Excellent review. 240 htz seems to be the new standard. By the way, in Most monitors HDMI 2.1 is fake advertising as most don't support 48 Gbps. They are HDMI 2.1a which is not really an upgrade from HDMI 2.1, so don't fall for this marketing ploy

This or Lg Ultragear 27gn800-b? Both are at same price in my country. I know 240hz from 144hz is a big jump but I also care about quality of panel and colors. Does this monitor has better colors than Lg model? PS: Also, I am planning to buy 4k monitor maybe in a year so I will later use this monitor as my 2nd monitor. I am going to pair the monitor with 7800 xt

If you're planning to get a 4k monitor soon, I'd just get the cheaper of the two now. This monitor's colors are surprisingly great!

did you test the gtg response time? measured respose time? how is the motion clarity compared to the xg2431?(ufo test) should i buy this. will be jumping from 1080 p to 2k and 165 to 240 hz. currently using the acer vg240ys. need a monitor strictly for fps gaming

I didn't compare the two so I don't know. From what I tested it was pretty responsive. While the motion clarity might not be the best I've seen, it was pretty good and did not distract from gameplay. But honestly though??? Depending on your PC specs, if you're not running a current gen RTX 4070 and up, I'd rather go 1080p 240Hz at 24" since serious FPS players are gonna stick their faces super close to the screen for optimal gameplay anyways. I'd rather save the money to upgrade my GPU later down the line. Still.... This monitor at this price point is really really enticing. TBH.

@@forever_vishalYou need to buy a type C to DP adapter, then connect the DP cable that came with the monitor to the laptop and enjoy. You need a DP cable to run at 240Hz

This is half the price. If wanna save money get this. If got budget can consider the g5. Both also good. I'd personally spend that extra RM800 to upgrade my GPU instead.

@@bellloooooo783 Not necessarily. This kinda blind brand loyalty will land a lot of people of trouble if say the after sales in their respective country for more reputable brands is bad. Also, Viewsonic has more than enough pedigree in the monitor space unlike some other ones that mainly sell bottom of the barrel panels. It's best to be objective and just judge products as they were, after all, all these brands mainly (but not always) use panels from the same sources, even if a brand is using a panel made by Samsung, they could very well tune it better in terms of color or performance as often seen with top tier ROG stuff.

@@jaya4440 If I'm not mistaken, that model with the similar price point should be one with a 180Hz refresh rather which is closer to the previous model Viewsonic Pro-2. In take case, if your priority is just the screen, I'd still get the Viewsonic. However.... the biggest caveat here is still how good the after sales is where you're at. In Malaysia they have been pretty solid based on what I've heard.

You don't need a dp port. Both the hdmi ports on your laptop and this monitor is HDMI 2.1. Just make sure that your driver is updated and try using the NVIDIA control panel to set the resolution and refresh rate.

The official spec sheet for this monitor confirms that HDMI 2.1 is present and is capped at 144Hz. Just use DP instead.

The ms thing does not matter as much as you think because manufacturers can simply change the test conditions and tell you 0.1ms.

Brutal honesty? Hot take but unless you're in the top echelon of FPS players, you're very unlikely to benefit from the refresh rate jump. I'd rather wait a little and go straight for 4K 240Hz later down the line. Your GPU might not support it for gaming, but watching movies with the wife will look better in 4K, especially cuz Netflix won't even turn on HDR for videos in 1440p (a legitimate excuse for an upgrade, don't forget to sub if it works with your wife) 😉
