Really nice video, this is proof that budget equipment is good to do what we need done, I’m considering a new one as my old one is now 6-7 years old now and it’s begging to die down but has never really let me down, really good video!

So I'm a uk based landscaper + maintenance gardener. Obviously I use a mix of echo and still gear which is regularly used and serviced but definitely not going to knock titan, I love my screwfix stuff. The one thing I would recommend to anyone who uses small two stroke engines, is use good oil in them. Please! The cost of sthil ultra oil compared to even the sthil cheapo stuff let alone bandq stuff is going to make a massive difference to the life of your tool just like it does to you car. Use good oil!

Iv'e been pruning hedges for 2 days now :(. Good to see the manual prune of the laurel hedge. I prune mine manually and you get a much better result that way with less cutting leaves in half and a healthier hedge as a result.

Looking to buy one of these tomorrow, I don't mind doing some work on it if need be. Think you've sold me! Plus if I get a real lemon SF should just swap it out without an argument for at least the first year. I just bought the Titan leaf blower, vac is useless, but I fully expected it to be and never really intended using it for that, anyone that buys a garden vac is 'optimistic' to say the least! Blower is excellent, starts easy (so far) and as my main tall difficult hedge is on a tarmac path should be able to blast the clippings into a pile for cleanup after using this!

Little tip Tim, if you use premium/super unleaded it’s better for small engines as it contains a lot less ethanol than normal unleaded. It’s the ethanol that degrades all the rubber components such as fuel lines and seals in the carburettor on these small engines.

I bought one of the Titan brush cutters a few years ago, within a year the fuel line had rotted exactly like this, they gave me store credit in fairness . I have had an electric one since but find the cable annoying a as garden is fairly big. I’m go get a new Strimmer/ hedge trimmer and thought maybe the Titan multi tool would be different/ improved but comments on here and elsewhere show is just the same so not risking fuel line issues again. I wouldn’t feel confident changing these lines and don’t want hassle of servicing etc. so think I’ll go for a cordless option, maybe Einhell. Good video though

It is very odd seeing ‘my’ tools come up on your channel so often! My one of these works perfectly still, but it has always leaked fuel so I have to keep it on its side. Actually last time I used it the off switch wasn’t working correctly so I’ll have to take a look at that. It has ‘easy start’ built in so no need to pull the cord so quickly. In fact you can pull it very slowly and it will start itself. Only realised that a few months ago!

Here in the US most of us have to use gasoline with up to 10% ethanol. The ethanol ruins small engines. It absorbs water which corrodes aluminum and also causes moisture to get stuck in the small passages of the carb even when you blow it out with air. It also deteriorates the fuel lines much faster. Even quality Tygon tubing has a hard time with it. I am tempted to try silicone model airplane fuel line... We can get gasoline without alcohol but it is very hard to find for much of the country. Either spend $10 a quart at the store or drive 45 minutes to a pump and it is about 40 cents more per gallon (regular is around $2.30/gal right now) Gets quite expensive for riding mowers...

How many fuel lines there are ?. I have a titan strimmer...i can see 3 fuel lines .. one line from the fuel tank to the carb, this one witth filter at the end in the tank . One fuel line comes from the fuel tank into the primer bulb.. the 3rd fuel line goes between the primer bulb and the carb ... the fuel line with the filter in the tank goes directly into the carb .. so how does the primer bulb pull fuel in the carb .. please

Just browsing and saw this. Instead of using line for your strimmer try just using cable ties. Just wrap one (or two if needed) (or get longer ties) round the spool with enough spare to give you a cutting length of your choice. Get good (ish) quality ties and just replace as needed. A LOT less faffing around than using spools and line which, in my experience, are a pain in the proverbials.

I also have a Chinese long trimmer, with a hedge attachment it weighs 8.5kg without fuel and only a 40cm long blade but it has 50 ccm3. These pruners are too heavy for comfort and serious use, even recognized brands have weight, but they are a bit lighter and better.

If you empty the tank when you finish with it the fuel line pipe will last a lot longer , more so if you don’t use it every day, and if it’s two stroke it burns the plastic and the fuel dries up and makes the plastic hard and that’s why it brakes apart .
@WhosPhotoTube5 жыл бұрын
Rubbish petrol only last 30 days with 5% ethanol added and other additives talk of adding 10% ethanol so the biofuels companies don't go bust, go for premium esso or other non ethanol petrol and add Briggs fuel saver. Empty fuel end of season.
@ivecamperbuild_thomas40845 жыл бұрын
WhosPhoto additives cost money and the trimmer was brought to save money and if he is not using it all day every day , he doesn’t really have to empty the tank just put enough fuel in the tank to do the job ..and the size of the tank he would not be wasting that much fuel after he had cut the edges also if the mixed fuel is left in the tank for god knows how long it will only clog the spark plug and then he will be spending more time cleaning the pug to get it to start ,
@WhosPhotoTube5 жыл бұрын
@@ivecamperbuild_thomas4084 "additives cost money" £1.10 per 5 lt 'petrol can' and, the fuel will keep fresh 2-3 years, this might be of help to others like myself who don't want to dispose of stale fuel left in a 'petrol can', its worth a look at with other benefits :-)

I recommend fuels like ASPEN, Stihl motormix or similar. They are more expensive than garage forecourt fuel but you can leave these fuels in the tank of your machines up to 3 or 5 years and they don't destroy fuel lines and carburettor parts.

Another thing with any of these small engines they are very susceptible to fuel degradation if the fuel is left standing too long. Although I’ll be poo pood for saying so don’t use low octane fuel as it is often an ethanol blend. I know for an absolute fact that it will absorb water and is not likely to perform correctly. We use 91 octane in our car with no problem but my smaller engines hate it. I stick to 95 octane for them. I have two acres of gardens hedges etc and my cheap as chips Chinese engines are still going strong after being given a hard time. I use a very good quality synthetic two stroke oil in my fuel mix.

These machines are great at being budget tools but what let's all these budget mowers and garden equipment machines down is the lack of dealer support and parts if they have issues other than a simple fuel line replacement.
