Nice to see a wedding photographer talking about taking a little bit of time to use some lighting to good affect. I was a bit disappointed with my daughter's photographer that she did not do that at least some of the family shots in the chapel. When I have covered weddings I have always provided additional illumination where I felt it was needed. Nice job.

Hi Vanessa, could you put the flash on camera & bounce it into the above reflector (with white side on) & have a 2nd reflector underneath to fill in the shadows to achieve the same results???
@VanessaJoy4 жыл бұрын
You sure could but might not fill the whole reflector depending on how far above you it is

Amazing pictures take some time to setup, that's what I learned to day. Take my time to get the best lighting with the tools I have. But what really makes me wonder, is how you can hold that heavy camera with one hand and take pictures that are sharp and not shaky...

Vanessa is a lot better than she thinks she is. If she continues on this ambition course she will eventually turn a corner, and maybe another, and all this hard work, professionalism, and humbleness, WILL pay off for her and she will become "great and popular", for better or worse, and I am proud to be a witness to it all.

Great tips for an outdoor portrait shoot, not sure I could manage that without a stand though. Using TTL to meter off is a great way to find a starting point you can lock in to. I was wondering about your bag! Looks great and I'm in the market for a new bag would you care to share the brand?

Why not a speedlite with a portable 40 or 50 softbox instead of 3 items + an assistant?

softbox won't give the same lighting pattern and essentially I'm showing you a 1 item setup since this is easily used with just natural light

New York is truly cosmopolitan place. Only in New York one can find a model with a typical Cossack haircut...although no doubt she was told by her hairdresser that "it is the latest upper trend in the art of modern boutique hair dressing". Nothing new under this sun. Julianne looks so "hopelessly" traditional after that.

Way too much trouble with that clamshell lighting just to be able to click a passport composition. Why not just put the speed light in a small octabox and fire. Advantages: You can do any pose even full body, no assistant. Less cumbersome!
@VanessaJoy2 жыл бұрын
Bc this is a budget option 😉 note title of video
@varunkamal912 жыл бұрын
@@VanessaJoy Think about how much it costs to have an assistant on salary or pay someone each time to hold all that. A cheap godox v860ii speedlight is just 170 dollars and has lasted me 3 years and you need a small quick pop up modifier. Newer photographers need to be able to shoot flexibly without assistants. It's more profitable when starting. I had to shoot alone for the first year.
