The gray dial version was my first Seiko 5. I love it.

I don't think the long " weekend" is new in Seiko 5 models. I remember seeing another model 15 years ago with a long " weekend" day. I hope some one can tell me that model number.

It's a fine little watch which will give years of faithful service, although you done your best to kill it off

nice day window...but the date on the grey one looks a bit of centered...

Off-centred may indicate it’s a genuine Seiko. 😹

Thanks for the great review Andy. I jus ordered SNK621 after watching your review in hope for a 'longer day' 😂. In fact after watching a few of your Seiko 5 reviews recently, am now very much into smaller, cleaner and retro dials. Probably taking a detox from the highend ones. BTW, do u plan to to go into homage brands such as Steeldive, San Martin?

Hey there, thanks for dropping by. I hope your wife isn’t hunting me down for influencing you on this watch purchase. 😹 That said, I am not sure if I will be doing reviews of homage watches anymore. This is because I have stopped speaking to watch brands for loans or collaborations. Maybe I’ll do a video to explain that part. My new schedule means I simply don’t have the means to liaise with watch brands for loans. Not that they are missing anything tbh. They have other reviewers covering that. I now only loan watches from Hour Boutique because of the hassle-free process, and of course, their generosity. Enjoy your new watch man!

Look very nice. I have another seiko5 non winding, I like it, just tired of the non winding. No more auto non winding for me. Haha

Yes, minimum should be a 4R movement.

This is a very old Seiko 5 model,I rem I got the black one for my friend as a birthday present back in 07 or 08..Back then is cost under S$99

Yea man, the prices have crept up as with all things. I think these budget watches still have their own crowd. I’ve met many people who just want to spend minimal for a reliable watch to tell time.

Got the anthracite dial... holy moly the dial is so dope. I must admit it's a shame about the integrated bracelet... I think I have seen others recase this watch?? Which strikes me as a great idea if you've got the chops. But if you just want a nice little daily watch with a great dial for cheap, I can recommend this, and you can wear it with a suit. The dial really is gorgeous.
@AndyinSG2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The dial is really good for this affordable watch. I think there’re some other watches with very similar dials, such as the grey dial Turtle and DressKX.

The SNK621 is not a good choice as it does not accept aftermarket straps.

Well, I guess not everyone wants to swap out the bracelet. But I get your point.

amazing dial for the 621, it just need some mercedes hands! Also, the case is pretty boring with the non-upgradable bracelet, it definetly needs a mod :D
@AndyinSG3 жыл бұрын
The lug/bracelet integration is probably the worst feature on this model. Leaves you with little choice but to use the folded bracelet. But yes, the grey dial does punch above its weight class.

Low quality for such price. A bracelet made of metal plates is an insult to the buyer. There are many Chinese watches with better looks and movement (eg Seiko NH 35 :)) and with a real steel bracelet. When will Seiko stop compromising itself with shoddy bracelets?
@AndyinSG3 жыл бұрын
I guess it’s become a “signature” for many Seiko 5s. That’s what we get for around the US$100 mark. Yes, it stinks, but that’s the way it is.
@nickchang52933 жыл бұрын
@@AndyinSG Most Seiko steel bracelets aren’t the best except on GS...but I would rather wear a Seiko 5 than any China-made “homage” that say “Superlative Chronometer/Officially Certified/1000ft=300m” but you can’t even take a bath with it 😂🖕
@nonamename6383 жыл бұрын
@@nickchang5293 I have other dreams than a bath with a watch;). You are probably don't know any of Chinese watches and follow a harmful popular opinion. There are many high-quality products in China. I will give you a few names of companies that are noteworthy (and there are more): Seagull, San Martin, Heimdallr, Lobbini, Phylida, Phoibos, Beijing etc. Check it and you will change your mind. Don't judge quality by a few dollar watches. Good quality starts at around $ 50 (automatic) and $ 30 (quartz). As for the homage of Seiko watches, they are usually better than the originals in terms of quality, and many times cheaper (even up to 10 times) and with a more modern SEIKO mechanism :). It doesn't mean that Seiko watches aren't my favorites. I have 2 in my collection, there will be a third one soon. I really like my Alpinist SARB 017 :). But what's the delight in the watch from this movie? Mechanism 7S26? A bracelet made of metal plates? Price? Forgive me, but there is no point in delighting here.

@@nonamename638 Thank you for your input and your points are duly noted. To make my point direct: my perception on watches are less based on popular opinion and more on general manufacturing principles in China, which is the biggest manufacturing country in the world for most consumer products. I am also an importer of many products from China for the past 20yrs, and I have toured many factories. The mandate of most Chinese manufacturing companies is the immediate mass production of products using the cheapest components and labor with minimal regard for quality control to keep the cost down, thus being able to be competitive on pricing. Now this may apply to many less complicated products, but it really goes against the integrity of Watchmaking. FYI, I also had a Seiko that was made in China and there are visible flaws to it compared to the ones that are made in Japan or Malaysia. I’m sure there are exceptions like the ones you’ve listed but you should also consider one inescapable fact: don’t be surprised that some of the brands you’ve listed also outsource production from the same factories that assemble counterfeit watches. That is really how manufacturing works in China, my friend.
@nonamename6383 жыл бұрын
@@nickchang5293 I probably don't know the subject of watch production like you, but I have only described my experience with Chinese products. There are better and worse products and I know that the quality control in many factories is poor. It does not change the fact that there are more and more watches of a higher class. Unfortunately, it also drives up prices, but nothing is for free. Counterfeit products appear on Aliexpress, but also quickly disappear, of course I do not buy them. On the other hand, the homage of Seiko watches are often better made than the original. Better mechanism (most often Seiko NH 35 instead of 7S26, for example), sapphire instead of mineral glass and the price instead of 1000 USD is 100-250. I like Seiko products, but I like the way they work less and less.
