RBR. Dirt 2.0 teaches you to drive way over the limit and abuse the physics and cut corners in ways that would kill you in real life. There is a reason real rally drivers train with RBR.
@g.s.8108Ай бұрын
EA WRC and RBR rsf version. Both are good. Both have their quirks too. RBR is probably more slippery than real life and cars a bit sluggish to respond. While WRC is modeled more toward the crazy handling of Rally1 cars but this can be tuned down with setup if you want it feeling like lower spec cars. Im an ex Dirtfish student and for me, on gravel, I feel the driving in WRC feels closer to my experience at the school than RBR. Or I can get the cars feeling closer to DF than I could with RBR. the timing, sequence and feel of inputs (steering, brake application etc). RBR feels like driving gravel on street tires, cars a bit sluggish to respond and tires lack the initial bite of rally tires into the gravel. RBR tarmac is where it shines more. Both super fun. Play both. The more variety, the better you'd adjust to real life. If you get stuck on one game, you might develop bad habits associated with that game. Driving a variety of things helps you adjust to different real life situations more easily.

I'm glad you got an upgrade to your rig! Simagic is one of the best Sim racing companies to buy from, as usually their stuff is quite reliable. I have that same shifter and have had no real issues since the day I got it, whereas the HGP H-shifter from Moza that I was using before gave me a ton of mis-shift and calibration issues. I remember when I personally upgraded from a G920 to a Moza R21, and the difference for me was monumental. Felt like going from using a toy to driving a real car. Next, if you haven't already you have got to try VR, maybe borrow a Quest 2/3/3s from a friend or something. Your new PC should easily be able to handle it. Its like a whole other world in sim racing, as when I use VR it makes it feel so much closer to driving in a real car. The added depth perception and being able to look around the interior of your car and at the road in a 3D space really elevates the immersion. Although the lack of good hand tracking support in most sims makes looking at your hands a little awkward.

hot tip, get a track IR and set it up, the feedback you get from the car being able to rotate without your vision (since your POV is now actually tracking your real life head position) is otherworldly, Plus in a real car, you look through corners.
@mark_plays_games-p9cАй бұрын
Isn't track IR less realistic because moves what you're seeing based on where your head is facing rather than where you're looking? And he already is looking through corners because he is using triple screens, he literally said so in the video.
@MotoBennyPNWАй бұрын
@@mark_plays_games-p9c When you use triple screens the side screens view is "skewed" to show perspective, which isn't realistic, so as the car is sideways and you look out the side window/screen/monitor, what you are looking at is a stretched or skewed view, and when the view is stretched/skewed its impossible to use anything for reference. Track IR isn't perfect, but what it does is moves that "skewed" version of the game world as you look around, and keeps your view "in focus" and therefor accurate and reference-able version of the track, in the center of your view, as you look around.

Great series, stumbled on it after getting a used Logitech g29 just this last weekend and didn’t expect to see the Loam Ranger giving g29 upgrade tips! You should try VR see how it compares to the 3 monitor setup, does it give you more of a feeling of depth? I have Gran Turismo on PS5 with the PSVR2 with the g29 and I can’t begin to describe how much better it is in VR, I find it so much easier to judge corners. The weight of a headset will only be like having a helmet on too. Can’t wait to see more of these videos. I can see this hobby adding to my already expensive Mountain biking hobby… it starts off as, I will get a cheap wheel and see if I like it, the next thing you know it’s “I need a better wheel”, then “I need a better PC”, then “I need a better seating rig”, hobbies are soooo expensive. Best of luck with rallying.

Congrats! Going from a Logitech to this rig is like going from a base Corolla to a GT3RS. 😊Recommend you get that PC off the floor to not have it just vacuum all the dust off the floor. As for motion, for fun factor, motion is good. Get your friends in it and see their reactions. For training, motion can just confuse the body as it cannot sustain Gs or deal with changing G loads like a decreasing radius turn or double apex situations. It might make you more tired than without. Haptics is awesome though..adding a couple more bass shakers. And for content creation, motion can be a hindrance more than help.

The obvious next step to me, rather than the triple screen, is VR, since you get the depth cues of a fully 3d world, rather than the abstraction of a 2d flat image. Having to force your brain to judge how far pixels are, instead of intuitively knowing it with your eyeballs in VR, makes a huge difference. Hi loved the video, you talked about a motion sim at the end but if you want more immersion for around 300-400 Canadian Dollars there is a device called a butt kicker. Its used a lot in sim racing and its basically a bass shaker so it emulates vibrations like the engine or shifting. There are also cheaper options, butt kicker is like the apple of bass shakers because of its user friendly platform (more plug and play then other options) . I've heard many people say it increased the immersion a lot, you should check it out! Love the content keep it up!
@stevenlarson3316Ай бұрын
Get a Dayton Audio BST-1, strap it under your seat get a Nobsound Mini Amp and some speaker wire and you're set for less than 100 dollars. I don't know if it's comparable to a buttkicker but it's good. There are a lot of youtube videos on how to do it. I use it for engine vibration, a subtle bump when I shift and road vibration/bumps (also subtle) from the suspension. Try not to overdo it. SimHub is relatively easy to use, but it takes some tweaking to get what you want. If I have it off I feel like I'm floating over the road and it feels like something is missing. So it's definitely great for immersion.

You practiced properly on the G29 if you could just automatically adjust like this. Im 100% convinced that if you truly practice the correct way on a lower end wheel, youll be so much more "at home" when you get a really high end wheel. I got my g29 a year ago, and then the t300 3 months after. All i ever did was trying to learn proper racing technique. In doing so, the t300 felt like a super high end wheel, when i first upgraded. Then i kept practicing on that, until i came to the point where i felt that i was outperforming my wheel. So two days ago, my Simagic Alpha arrived, and everything just felt RIGHT, despite everyone saying it takes a while to adjust. The added bonus - i went from enjoying the concept of improving, to just straight up enjoying driving a car around a track. I was really missing that.

@RyansRoadToRallyАй бұрын
Hmm that’s a good question. For in-game performance, I’d have to say it’s the wheelbase. I went back to the Logitech setup the other day, and I’m getting almost zero information, in comparison. I can tell what’s going on, grip-wise (and what’s about to happen) much more easily with the DD wheel. Especially one with so much headroom. Having the right sized monitor at the right distance is a close second. Hope that helps!

@rst27928 күн бұрын
I really enjoyed your video. Interesting you want to built a realistic rally simulator. Since I have used many different types of motion simulators, I want to tell you something for your information. For circuit racers who value delicate braking, I mainly recommend affordable 'seat-movers' which produce direct feeling from less movements. However, most rally gamers seem to like the suspension movements. For those people, I recommend 4-axis cylinder(?) type products such as D-BOX. Above all, you should limit the range of movements that interfere with driving, whatever you choose. Please note that the word 'realistic' doesn't stand for quantitative and numerical values. It's not realistic for the simulator to move 1 inch when the car moves 1 inch. What 'realistic' is about how you feel in the car while the car itself moves 1 inch. There are many things between car and you like suspension and seat etc. And human perception is not objective. When multiple forces applied on your body at the same time, humans tend to focus only on stronger certain forces. So what realistic in the motion sims is subjective feelings referred to human perception, not numbers. So, please don't be fooled by how much range of motion it has. You won't use all that range. Of course, a larger pitch angle will allow you to feel the slope, but you will have to reconsider your entire rig including monitor stand. And also, too much range of movements produce too much rebound movements which is not intended. Obviously not realistic. I'm not a fan of yaw devices that express traction loss by sliding the rear. they are pretty fun for rally and drift drivers. Only for fun, not for realistic driving information. Rear-sliding devices can make you confused quite often. Anyway, nice video! Keep it up! I hope to see the video about your thoughts on motion sims someday.

It’s admittedly an incredibly immersive experience, and I’d love to try Pimax Crystal light or super, but my experience so far with my Quest 3 was good only in short 30 to 40 minute bites, but the eye strain and stomach discomfort always catches up.. Triples or ultra wide is plenty of immersion, especially with a good head and eye tracker, and maybe even going the extra mile to deck out your rig with embellishments that make it feel and look even closer to being in a car, like so many youtube sim racers do.

Unless Dirt Rally 2 has added proper angled triple monitor support recently, you are going to have significant distortion on the left and right screens, with the monitors angled that far. The only way triples work atm, is having them all in a line. As far as I'm aware, there are no triple monitor mounts that allow easy pivoting of the side screens from 0 degrees to 45/60 degrees. It's been on my bucket list to make for a while, but to truly do it properly, they need to pivot right on the absolute edge of the front of the bezels between the monitors. I'll get around to it one day, when I have the money, in my usual fashion of hacking things together that work, that will never make it to the market, lol.

Haha fair enough. The amount of distortion I'm getting has been pretty reasonable, especially considering they are mainly for giving a sense of speed in my periphery. When going through hairpins and looking through the side window, it's a little wonky looking, but I'll take it over not having triples cover my full vision.

I have a few video's on my channel if you wish to see a 3dof motion rig in action on DR 2.0 and others, the problem with motion is once you've tried it, if you have a rig and it doesn't have motion, it feels lifeless and vague, motion does change the game, coupled with VR and wind simulator's etc you do feel you're in the matrix lol....

How were you able to mount the power strip to the side? I am stuck on this issue and don’t know how to.

Shayne from Rocky Sim Racing made those brackets. Reach out to him and I’m sure he can point you in the right direction. 👍

I miss rally so bad. I had a full on rig at the beginning of the year. Due to some emergencies i had to sell everything i had. I recently just built another rig but dont have all the things i need to do rally. Just GT3 and Formula. I love that i have a rig again and i can sim race, but I sill feel like something is missing, and i know that something is rally.

You're speechless with that rig? Then a full motion rig would definitely blow your mind! 🙂

Im curious how you set up dirt rally. I have triple screens but it looks so much better. For example my side mirrors are distorted and blurry. Congrats on the new setup 👍
@RyansRoadToRallyАй бұрын
Mine are a bit distorted as well, but not to bad. Are you using Nvidia Surround?
@OzzCyrusАй бұрын
@RyansRoadToRally yeah I use Nvidia surround for my sim rig monitors. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. Your displays look much better. Maybe there is something you are doing I'm not hahaha
@Hangry1988Ай бұрын
There’s unfortunately no official triple monitor support for the Dirt Rally Games to calibrate the angles similar to one’s triple monitor setup, so there will always be distortion. RBR RSF has true support to dial this in and WRC as well via an ini file tweak (not perfect but close enough)
@OzzCyrusАй бұрын
@@Hangry1988 I appreciate your comment mate, thank you. Yeah it sucks there isn't proper triple screen support. I'll check out that ini modification for wrc as I also have that game :)

Wowzer! Absolutely love that set up. What's it cost as is?
@ArnasBies24 күн бұрын
Hey I saw the thread about RBR already but from my experience here are the largest differences between DR2: RBR weight transfer is way more realistic RBR handbrake is also a lot more realistic Graphically DR2 is still the most realistic looking sim on the market Tarmac on DR2 is absolutely horrible RBR is way better at testing car setups If you're trying to practice for real life RBR is definitely the go to, wrc drivers use it, it has a way steeper learning curve but translates into real life a lot more realistically

If you really want to train my understanding is you should be driving Richard Burns Rally. Not that I’ve driven a real rally car, but it’s the only rally sim that feels like it would train for real life. Also would be funny to have this insane PC and to run the best rally sim all you need is a potato computer.
