The EAA Witness 2311 Match X is literally a Staccato XC clone at less than 1/4 the price, but is it "jUsT aS gOoD"? It has all of the features of a high-end 2011: island barrel with integrated compensator, window cuts in the slide, optics ready, mag well, etc... The comp definitely works. It shoots fast and flat, but is it reliable? I've put 100 rounds through it, so far, and there have already been some issues. I'm going to document the first 1,000 rounds in a series of videos and we will see if the Witness 2311 Match X is worth it. I did exactly what I said: first 100 rounds of a thousand round review process and I tried using another brand of 2011 mags to see if it would run them. That's totally normal. I've mounted A TON of pistol optics and have never had one come loose like that. I was just trying to be fair to the pistol, since I didn't add new Blue Loctite. I could understand a screw walking out a little bit, but this was pretty extreme.

Surprisingly I had 2 jams with mine both with MBX mags in the first 100 rounds. T/he prodigy mags and checkmates worked fine.

This will be my 7th 2011/1911DS, with some new parts, EGW internals , re-springing, etc, a new grip module, and some gun smithing. This will outperform the XC for less than ½ the cost.

I remember in the not so distant past staccato formerly known as STI, made crap for guns. You would have to buy one of their guns and immediately send it to Dawson or Brazos are Infiniti to make it run. As a matter of fact all 1911's brand new out of the store needed to be worked on so they wouldn't Jam.

A Staccato XC is a Staccato. A Girsan X, is a Girsan. No comparison.

They're not the same, but there is definitely a comparison to be made. This gun was very obviously modeled after the Staccato XC, so of course that's the gun people are going to compare it to.

So I got my first DS 1911 in the form of the Apollo 11 from Live Free Armory in Dec. '24. Really liking it so far after a full ammo can and multiple cleanings. Saw this 2311 Match X in the shot show vids and I believe is now on my short list. And I'd like to see the comparison of budges Double stackers in my own hands.

So you admit it ran fine with the mags that came with it.. then it had failures with Prodigy mags..well Prodigy/Dura mags are not great anyway.. so why did you even use Prodigy mags ?

Skipzguns’ video mentions that the gun is over sprung from the factory which is standard for all Turkish 1911 platform guns. He’s not sure if it’s due to laws there or on imports, or if it’s due to the fact that 9mm ammo there is traditional run at higher pressures than in the US. I thought it was good info, and I’m curious if reducing that spring weight can help with ejection consistency. Thanks for doing this video and looking forward to the 1K round update!

The first issue is, I have no idea. But seriously, I'd put a 9# recoil spring and a Wilson combat extractor in it and I'd bet it'd run fine. Thanks for the info.

Yep. I've already ordered some parts, but I'm also going to only run the mags it came with for the next update video and see if that makes a difference.

So I have had a bunch of different 2011 mags. The only mag that I have ALWAYS had an issue with is the Springfield 20rd mags. Be that my staccato Vanta or Vudoo the prodigy mags are just bad.

That's what I've heard from a lot of people. They run great in my Prodigy, but apparently not in this gun.

You have to use the heavier spring to break it in and once it's broken in you can put the lighter spring. I had to do the same with my prodigy. Also you should try the prodigy 17rd mag to see if it runs.. i only had issues with the 20rders

I did the same thing with my Prodigy, too. It has an 8lb spring in it now and. runs perfectly. I'll put a lighter spring in this one, eventually, too. I'll try the 17 round Prodigy mag. After the 20 round mag had issues, I switched back to the Checkmate 2011 mags, but testing will be ongoing with this one for a while.

I just wanna say, thank god you have tough skin. One thing that absolutely turns me off about the gun world is that a lot of people are great and super helpful but unfortunately just as many are snobs and completely dog on everyone like theyre the ones that invented the first firearm. I see this on every group, every forum, etc. If we as 2A supporters crap on everyone all the time instead of helping and being kind, who will be left to support the 2A?

That's not an "island" comp, "island" means the top of the slide is cut out and the barrel has an "island" that the slide moves around.

Not really. It's more like saying my Glock failed when I used Magpul Glock mags. The Prodigy mags are 2011 mags, as are the Checkmate mags that it comes with.

It's your extractor. Girsan's are junk. Needs to be tapered and bent inward. That's any or your feeding issues. Replace it with a egw or 9mm wilson combat. I've owned over 5 Girsans. And definitely Replace your sear spring. They are awful and imo not safe 😊

I agree 100%, but the Holosun EPS full size uses the RMSc footprint, so that's probably what I'll put on this.

I agree. The double stacks kind of live in a competition world. So widen the slide at the rear a tiny bit and give us full size optics for this big tanks. That is literally the only complaint I have with my first DS 1911, that friggin RMSc footprint. And too be honest...I'm not sure I want a dot on this anyway. I have always shot open sights the past 12 years. For this year two of my friends bought pistols with optic cuts. OK, so I decided to get in on the fun and got the Apollo 11 and then the Holosun 507k with the Vulcan reticle. But the friggin red dot has to be lined up with the front sight....so what good is the red dot then? I'm toying with pushing the front & rear dovetail sights off since they aren't adjustable anyway, and see how I get along with red dot only. I definitely don't like having to line up the red dot with the front sight like it is now.

You need to change your Mag springs to Atlas +5 power for the prodigy mags if you have not done that yet.

Good to know. They work great with my Prodigy, but the springs are definitely lighter than the springs in the mags that came with this gun.

I agree, in general. This is the first Turkish gun I've ever bought, but a lot of people are really interested in it, so I felt like it was worth getting for the channel to see if it's worth it or not.

We will see. Next time I take it out, I'll use only the Checkmate mags and see what happens. I'm hoping it'll be perfectly reliable. Prodigy mags ARE 2011 mags, so it was worth trying to see if they would run reliably. It still had one malfunction with the magazine that came with it. This is just the first 100 rounds of a long testing process and all of it will be on video and put on KZbin.

I don't know of an RMSc plate with a rear sight built in, but maybe there is one. A lot of the RMSc optics have a small rear sight built in, though, such as the 407K that's on this gun, currently.

My Prodigy doesn’t like the Prodigy mags lol, everything else works fine, I’m hoping the +18% atlas springs work to fix them otherwise I have 6mags that don’t work

That's a comp'd barrel, not an "island barrel " come on.. did you even check the optic screw size? Did you clean and lube the gun first? To many potential user errors not necessarily the gun..

I said in the video that I cleaned and lubed it first. I've mounted A LOT of optics and have never had one come loose like that. It's RMSc cut and I used the screws that have mounted on EVERY OTHER RMSc cut gun I've ever had.

Wondering how the direct comparison is to the XC? How’s the fit any wobble and how does the slide smoothness compare? Does it shoot as flat as the XC?

It's honestly pretty close. The XC looks better and was more reliable, in my experience, but the slide is actually smoother on this. The triggers feel pretty much the same. Watching my XC shooting footage, the XC looks flatter, but it had a lighter recoil spring in it and a light, so once I get a light on this and probably an 8lb recoil spring, I bet it'll be pretty close.

Nope. It is cut for RMSc optics, which are the micro red dots for smaller carry guns, like the Holosun 407K, 507K, EPS Carry, etc., but the full-size EPS fits the RMSc footprint and it's been my favorite pistol optic, so I just ordered one for this gun, because a full-size gun deserves a full-size optic, in my opinion.

I've shot the XC and this is closer than you think. It's definitely not the same as a $4,500 pistol, but a lot of people are interested in it, so it was worth getting to test out for the channel to see if it's a valid option, plus, it'll be a fun project gun.

Very hard to have any trust in these. The initial release last year of these were terrible. Here we are again with this gun choking. Tisas models same optic cut and you get to keep your rear sights. Look at all the crap you still here about the prodigy. They fixed there issues ages ago. I have 3 prodigy variations never an issue. Makes me think these models are a money pit. How about alpha foxtrot if you have want a comp? A few hundred more dollars but not xc pricing.
