My husband and I had this SAME exact conversation last weekend. I usually spend about $1200/month on groceries for our family of 7, but I am cutting it down to less than $1000/month. This week, I only paid $88 dollars on groceries, but because I went to the store, rather than shopping online, I forgot a couple of things. We have a local grocery store that does pick-up, so I am just slowly adding to my online cart during the week and then I will order once a week. That is my new plan. And we are doing the same with Amazon, too. I, normally, will buy things constantly on Amazon, but I am trying to do a spending freeze right now.

And babysitting is insane. We do date nights at home now and either order in or I cook something fun so that we don't have to go out and end up spending $60 on the babysitter.

Nice! I have the same problem with forgetting things but I’m getting better with it😊. Glad your back with your hubby and kiddos.

I had to cut back on Amazon too and if I need to buy something from there, I'm going to wait to place a bulk order instead of all these smaller orders. The little purchases here and here always catch up to me.

I feel budgeting and finances should be taught at home. When my brother and I started working when we were in high school our mom sat us down to teach us about budget and savings. Also showing us how she budgeted the bills. I thank God our mom taught us, because I've been on my own since 18 years old (due to our mom passing away suddenly) I coupon and frugal shop. I also when I shop I ask myself do I need it or do I want this? If it's not a priority it can wait

A Catholic Mom's Life thank you for your kind words! That means a lot to me. The hardest part of loosing my mom was it happened the night my brother and I graduated high school! June 22, 1984. I wish my parents were still alive so they could see my sons

I know a couple who made financial goals decisions at the beginning of their marriage to have their house paid off by the time their daughter graduated high school. It happened because they worked as a team

Jordan Page is fantastic, she helps me get through when I’m lost the eye on the prize. I’ve been following her since 2013. Thank you for sharing- this video is really well done! I know what you mean about groceries! (Especially with organic food!) This month I mapped out ALL our groceries for the month of July and I’m hoping to stick to the crazy plan I set out for myself! Pray for my perseverance! 😂😂

I have started taking my lunch from home. I just buy a bottle of water/juice. Maybe I can buy a thermos to keep my drinks cold. I have noticed that I am saving so much more money. That extra money can go toward paying extra on my car payments and finish the car off a lot sooner.

I love the monthly cash envelope idea. I’m terrible at budgeting. I just can’t get it right or my husband surprises me last minute with a last minute expense, but this single cash envelope sounds doable for me. Thanks!

This video is so timely for me! I stay at home with our two kids, and budgeting has still been such an issue with my husband and me, so I love hearing how you manage! Could you do a video on meal planning or are there any specific resources that you use?

We had a financial advisor that made such an impact! He was free, so it cost us nothing. My husband was so moved, he became certified bc the impact it made on us. Student loans especially take a big bite but we structured out loan payments in a way that we are saving TONS on interest bc that’s where they make their money. My husband and I are VERY HONEST about money bc it’s the most beneficial to us.

I’m intrigued about Walmart pickup as a budget tool and that’s a good idea, deleting Amazon app. I do a lot of “add to cart” and then going in and adding to “save for later” for at least 24 hours.

I do the exact same thing, as far as separating all my money for the month into a zipped pouch. The one extra thing I do is paperclip the approximate amount I’ll need for each thing, that way I don’t go over and not have enough fir another item...I thought of this on my own though..I realized that when I don’t see the cash physically getting less, and less in front of my own eyes then I end up overspending...I’ve done it for years now, and although it might seem primitive to some people it’s really worked wonderfully for me; and my mind is at peace!!

We are trying to get debt free. I really buckled down this month. If all goes well, I cut the grocery bill from $1600+ a month for 5 (including any household needs) to $280. Then I had about $100 for the 4th. So a huge cut. Fingers crossed. I called it no spend July.

I really like Dave Ramsey’s plan. Jordan Paige has some really great tips too. Have u checked out her spending freeze videos? This is so great for when you are wanting to save up for something 😊. We do “dates” for our 4 kids, too. it’s more like who ever goes with us to run an errand gets to pick the flavor of ice cream or maybe a small treat, things like that. It allows us to catch up with each child without interruptions. I might try that Old Navy thing, tho.

@A Catholic Mom’s Life Please make a video about these topics below. These are the things that prevent me from becoming the best-version-of-myself. Video suggestions: - pride/ how to be humble - Insecurities/vulnerability (Presenting your truest self to others) - Living in the present - Procrastination (how to get stuff done without getting distracted)

I was debt free until a week ago. Unfortunately my car died and it cost too much money to get it fixed. Plus it was constantly breaking down. So I bought a new car. I will be paying car payments for 5 years but I'm going to pay more each month and hopefully can get it paid off sooner.

so true about little purchases... I only have starbucks as a special treat if my husband or a friend really wants to go. Nothing like that is part of my routine. Love the walmart pick up & old navy idea. I only use Amazon on my computer too. My husband loves movie date nights but I always suggest redbox especially when I have a free coupon! Here's my chp10: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqfCgHxpbpiCbKc Oh another idea for kids: Instead of pet stores, you can spend time with dogs/cats at local animal shelters/rescue organizations. Last thing: I admire the cash systems but my husband and I love credit cards for airline miles, free car rental ins. etc. since we travel pretty regularly.

I have 4 credit cards I use for everything because they pay me back. It is great as long as you pay them off every month which I do. American Express 3% back on groceries, Bank of America 3% on gas, Chase card 3% on restaurants when we do go out, Citibank double reward 2% for all other bills. Gives me $100 plus back per month. Still need to budget so they are paid off monthly. Mos of our groceries we go do discount markets and some will not allow cards.

Pray the Holy Rosary. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Don't stress about kids college. Scholarships, grants, trade school, community college AND your kids can work while going to school. I had 2 part time jobs in college. Start putting away in your 401 or 403 for retirement. You dont want to be 70 years old and HAVE to work.
