These days employer don't train one properly and its a fast pace learning when get new job. You really have to relie on good listening skills to understand the important aspects of the job. Thanks for this perfect video, I could also add another item to problem list. I am a student in an international collage where the study language is English and as it is not my native language as well as many other students and lecturers in there, I had a really hard time to focus on listening because my brain quickly was getting tired. This problem among the other that mentioned in this video cause me to felt embarrassed and stupid. But as I analyzed it and like he got award of problem, I tried to stop it and practice to overcome it.

This is some very good and useful information, thank you. Not often you hear practical information being given like this. I have been a teacher for many years. One thing I had to learn early on was not to get offended if it seemed like someone was not listening. This speaker mentions a few times about not listening as showing disrespect. If you are putting information out there, some people will listen and some won't. Don't take it personally if they don't, it just causes you stress, and no one is really obligated to listen. If you make a bug deal about it, it just tends to turn people off. My opinion.

Very interesting and really amazing! I can associate myself with some of the critical issues described. In my experiences in "listening", I find that I'm totally (really totally) focused on "listening" based on the topic or issues covered, otherwise, boring. I am always focused on the point that I almost always unable to blink my eyes on the presenter, his/her body language in presenting, gestures, use of hands, the ability to articulate and the use of words would really catch the attention of the participants. This would bring out a resounding interaction between the presenter and the participants. I had experienced these during my school days, especially in my postgraduate, my experiences as a "listener" and as a "presenter". Personally, the topic or the issue(s) presented is critical in capturing the full attention of everyone. In this presentation, I admire both the "issue" as well as the manner the presenter opened up his presentation. Very interesting and motivating.

This was an amazing lecture and I learned alot from it and will apply it to my professional life as well as personal, thank you. I did want to point out thought that at 33:45 when instuctor first states the sentance he said "the four childern" then later at 37:25 he starts off the sentance with "the four young childern". Some tip(s): In my university days in one of my law subjects and business on the topic of "Obligations and Contracts". I still have on my mind the effective ways of memorization in order to "A's" the exams. Cheating was unknown in my school days because of the intellectual challenges. I find them very effective. I've been retired and am talking about more than half the century ago of studies and experiences, and yet, I still have the tips of remembering things that our professor in that particular subject taught us in achieving "A's" in any exam, Here, again, it's the manner the teacher and/or the presenter making the presentation so effective, motivational, interacting, and learning enjoyable and not boring. Great video!!!! I suffered from this and had tremendous problems when taking notes....i usually have to copy notes from my classmate after class.It was so annoying specially getting people notes all of time , i vowed to do something about it.. While going to graduate school. I came with a plan which works for me and did well in graduate school. The key is awareness...Once aware and identify the issue. I began to read the local newspaper with speed with a clock... Say for (1) one minute for three paragraphs..i will practice until i succeed ..once succeed i will put my stereo on with loud music(distractions) and practice until i can focus on the subject....then i Will go further by picking a book and practice with loud music until my concentration became unbreakable. NB: it's a skill one must cultivate otherwise it will decayed... Hope my experience wil helped anyone who want to improve...it listening skill Great video again... Yousseph from Ivory Coast

There are two types of listening: Active vs Passive listening. Active listening is when we are listening to complete a task. Passive listening is when we are listening for not specific purpose like listening to the news or watching TV or listening to music.
