Does anybody remember club 747 at the airport area of Buffalo? It was a popular club in the early 80's. Also, The Bakery was cool too with the phones at every table and u can call someone u like sitting at a table and hook up. Those were some pretty lit times.

Wow I moved away a little more than a year ago and holy shit Delaware Ave. has changed like crazy. The whole downtown area is in a bizarro renaissance right now well at least for Buffalo because honestly the city and Erie county did absolutely nothing basically the last 3/4 decades, everything since the 60s in Buffalo just went on the decline. Im glad to see it finally being realized because it has a lot to offer and potential especially the water front which was neglected for decades and I could never figure out why. We should of followed the initial blueprint of what Cleveland did in the mid 90s that totally took a shit city basically into one of the nicer ones because they are very similar both being on Lake Erie and having the same history basically of being a boom town in the early to mid 20th century with bustling industry but then dying out in the 70s and 80s. Nice video it was cool to see my hometown from that perspective bc I have not been home in over a year.

@@levity90 The suburbs Charlotte, NC - The suburbs south of Raleigh, NC - suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia and suburbs Tampa, FL are the only east coast cities I would recommend. Nashville, TN - Dallas, TX - Austin, TX and Denver, CO are the only other cities I'd recommend. Look for the crime maps of each city and base you move to areas that have low crime and great school districts. Nine times out of ten those areas will be desirable and have good jobs. Just make sure you have reliable transportation before you move to those cities. Public transportation can be spotty.

We weren't even talking football to that point & it happened more than once !! yoo boiii I did have fun here those 10 years of concerts at Bills Stadium, seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd at Century Theater on Main ST. WORLD LARGEST DISCO with DAVID CASSIDY & KRISTY McNICOL. Seeing Robert Redford doing The Natural movie, getting JIM KELLY Autograph, having a 8th grade girl looking like Steavie Nicks from Fleetwood MAC. Bills season tickets for 10 years. Going to ST. PATS PARADE every year because all 3 of my names are IRISH JAMES PATRICK O'GRADY. Going to Mickey Rats in Angola on July 4th. Seeing Allman Brothers at a local Bar near Darien Lake. My brother is good friends with Johnny Rezniniz from GOO GOO DOOLS. I get why people leave Buffalo the weather NY Taxes. I am proud even though Im IRISH I know my limits with Alcohol

I would suggest doing that then. I grew up in WNY but have lived in Florida the past 25 years. Considering moving back for the very first time, as Florida is getting way too busy for my liking, and getting real tired of the oppressively hot, humid, never ending summers.

Probably you are another disloyal person who wants to live in crappy Florida! And then say ooh, ooh, look at the palm trees, look at the beaches, ooh, ooh I found paradise! You can have your phony "plastic" cities like that shit hole Miami! I am proud of Buffalo, it's down to Earth people and the wonderful changes that has taken place here! Those who are anxious to leave here, please never come back! We don't need your kind here anyway!

With the exception of a few interesting old buildings, it's pretty ugly and bleak, with few people in the streets. It's depressing.

Buffalo was in serious decline since the 1970’s following the fall of Bethlehem Steel and other manufacturing industries. Finally making a comeback in the last 5 years. Buffalo is on the rise, but still lots of work to do.

This is just downtown Buffalo. The video doesn't show the other 95% of the city. Downtown is mostly just government administration and offices. If you move north from downtown there are tons of shops, coffee houses, bars, and restaurants. The eclectic food options and restaurant quality in this city are pretty much unrivaled for small to medium size cities. As far as parks go, you couldn't be more wrong. Buffalo has the most unique and beautiful park system in the entire country, bar none. The city was designed to be a city inside a park, as opposed to putting parks in the city. Frederick Law Olmstead installed a parkway system that connects 3 major parks (Front park, MLK Park, and Delaware park) in the 19h century. Long greenways run throughout the entire city, and the 3 major parks are large. Delaware park itself is enormous and contains a number of art deco buildings that serve as museums and restaurants. It's like going back in time to the gilded age. Over 80% of the park system remains in its original condition. The Buffalo city layout is also unique. The street system is a radial pattern of long avenues overlaying a grid. It is very much similar to Paris after Hausmannization. Living in Buffalo is literally like living inside a park. You also have a huge waterfront area that has been revitalized over the last 20 years and offers a ton of things to do.

@@Ominousslug Thanks for your reply. But I can only comment on what I see. I came to this video because I was looking at other information on Buffalo regarding repossessed property that the authorities were giving away for nothing to get people in and renew run down areas (slums?), so it seems you are fighting an uphill battle to change public perceptions on two fronts.

@@ianburton8050 Oh yes, no disagreement there. Buffalo still has a great deal of problems. You have to understand that it's one of the most segregated cities in the country and progress has been exceedingly uneven. I was just pointing out that it's not as dreary as you may have perceived it to be.

We could be happier with less of that awful depressing music - makes the city seem more depressing than it already is. I've lived in western New York for most of my 80+ years and would NEVER live in that damn city - just awful. Away back it was worth shopping downtown, in the 50s and before, but never now. Terrible place.
