Skull Bluff at 10:18! I've done this float many times and camped right across from that bluff. If you have a fire going at night the light reflecting off the bluff makes it look like a giant Frankenstein peeking out of the water at you.
@TheBeardedBurton7 жыл бұрын
+tmkilburn sure is! We set up for lunch there and spent some time, just awesome! The video I posted of this year's trip when we passed by, it was so flooded you couldn't see the sandbar we stopped at or go paddle through the eyes lol.

hey great video, i am a kayak fishermen from Louisiana, and I am thinking about planning a week long float/camp/fishing trip next year around September and wanted to see if you could give me some feed back on what species of fish are in the buffalo and if the fish are plentiful in the buffalo? thanks
@TheBeardedBurton8 жыл бұрын
+jshd1986 thank you for watching and commenting! And good for you, that sounds likes a blast! So the species we saw most were rock bass, some small mouth but unless you float further south like where we were towards the end, that's mostly it. The fish weren't that plentiful but if you have any experience fishing fast moving water and looking for pools, you'll catch them all day. Good luck!

Great video Burton! I'm considering the BG2 but don't fish very much. I'm a big guy, 6'4 290 and would be using it to paddle pretty much flat creeks and rivers. I'd also like to take my 60 lb dog. A couple questions. Do you think a dog could ride up front on the hatch or maybe in the back? How would the BG2 do on small rapids, class I maybe class II?
@TheBeardedBurton7 жыл бұрын
+John Hughes thanks! Yea I have used this for kayak Camping more than fishing so far lol. It has a weight limit of 500lbs and easily handles I and II, and you'll see once I post my video tomorrow from this years Buffalo trip, this boat handled 4ft rapids we got caught in during a flood lol. Depending on the dog I guess it would be the factor like the size of it. The back would probably be easier. Thanks for watching! I love this boat!

Looking to plan my for Yakpacking trip this year on the Buffalo River. How long would did it take you guys to go the 57?
@TheBeardedBurton8 жыл бұрын
+Adam Calhoun awesome, you will love it for sure! So we spread it out over 4 days 3 nights. Because of the water level we had to launch lower than we wanted so we went further than my video the year before. You could do it quicker if you went nuts but even over 4 days we had a couple of 15-20 mile days
@ItsMeAdamC8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick response. Looking to buy a new kayak, kind of stuck between the Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 or 140. You think a 14 ft will be to long for this river? Not sure how narrow it gets or if it does. Thanks again!
@TheBeardedBurton8 жыл бұрын
+Adam Calhoun one of my friends in this video has the pungo 120 and it did fine for him. My kayak is right at 14 feet and it performed great, I use longer paddles so I can get more torque and power, with the longer boats it just takes a little more effort to steer. But the river is plenty wide enough the whole time, just be sure to watch the weather and go when there's enough water

Our Buffalo river was foiled this year by the rain and flooding. We did however kayak 39 miles of the jacks fork in missouri.
@TheBeardedBurton8 жыл бұрын
+ColeKam that's unfortunate, we almost had the same thing happen to use 2 years ago with flooding and were on the river when it happened. Luckily we got out in time, others weren't as fortunate. Thank you for watching

Planning to do the Buffalo in Spring 2017 with my oldest son for his 16th birthday. Something he's wanted to do for a long time. I'm new to kayaking. What kayaks did you guys use and how did you pack your gear? I'm used to backpacking, but looks like you guys used dry bags and/or 5gal buckets. Really interested what you took and how you packed. Great vid!! Can't wait to go!
@TheBeardedBurton8 жыл бұрын
+johnnyr612028 I used an Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler 2 sit on top kayak. And yes it's a must to use dry bags lol! If you look through some of these videos I give a few options and actually show what I took on this trip! Thanks for watching! kzbin.info/aero/PLL10IXTXQFwdHPivTaqeCyzZ-bXE7jTpl

Do a canoe so you can pack food and accessories folks. Camping is so much easier in a canoe.
@TheBeardedBurton5 жыл бұрын
I disagree, you have to tether everything down, they don’t handle rapids or maneuver as easily with one person. My kayak has a 550lb weight limit and plenty of room for food and gear. Actually just got back from this same trip except we did the whole thing 130 miles over 6 days in this same boat. Handled perfect
