I’ve followed a vegan diet for almost 3 years and it’s not as hard as people might think. Many people say that vitamin D and B12 are hard to get on a vegan diet. But besides supplementation, you can get b12 through fortified plant milks and nutritional yeast. You can d through sunlight. Doing your research and finding out what works for you is important. Vegan diets vary from person to person and there is all kinds of variety. Thanks for showing what vegan diets have to offer!

"You can d through sunlight" sunlight only turns provitamin d into ordinary vitamin D dude... sunlight doesn't just macigally transform waves of vitamin D in the form of heat or light energy via radiating lol

Baris Cankaya I was saying that vitamin d is available through contact with sunlight. That isn’t the only way of course. It can also be acquired by foods such as plant milks fortified with d, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds. There are plenty of plant options that contain high amounts of D. I was stating that you can get D through being outside for a period of time so getting D isn’t hard to get on a vegan diet. There is also supplementation for those who live in areas that don’t get sun.

The reason processed food is so bad for you is because foods with equal caloric values of sugar and fat doesnt really exist in the natural world, things like ice cream, cheese cake glassed donuts, etc all have one thing in common, they all have a 50/50 ratio of sugar to fat. Our bodies aren't equipped to resist this kind of nourishment so we tend to become addicted to these kinds of food versus fruits or meat

Even "normal" eaters can be deficient in many vitamins and minerals. Whatever diet you eat try to KNOW what you eat, and take care of yourself. I'm vegan for years and my blood is fine - I even had a b12 overload! Comment on the 2000 cal on the vegan diet: I somehow eat way more and use way less oil. The health benefits of the keto diet could be expanded upon, as they are many: - It's the only existing cure to partially or entirely reverse Type 2 Diabetes, by effectively reversing insulin resistance, thereby greatly decreasing your chance of heart disease and diabetic Alzheimer's, among other things. - It was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, in order to reduce seizures, and it's still used for this purpose. - It's an anti-inflammatory diet, through the removal of grains, reduction of FODMAPs and through the recommendation to avoid bad vegetable oils (the difference between clean and dirty keto) etc, and as a result of reversing insulin resistance. - Although disputed, it's said that it *may* assist in cancer prevention, by removing/limiting the availability and necessity of glucose for cancer cells (Warburg effect). - It will over time improve your metabolism through a browning of white fat tissue, which initiates heat production in the fat cells, where you will physically notice an increased resilience to freezing. There's even a tiny bit of "energy bleeding" through the release of surplus ketones in urine and breath. - And its satiating effects through stabalizing blood sugar, not to mention by focusing on fat and protein consumption, can alleviate bad snacking habits and ease weight loss endeavors. Not often talked about, but equaløy interesting: The keto diet also fills an evolutionary role in a strategy of seasonal dieting, kinda similar to the background of the paleo diet, but where keto can be described as a pre-agricultural "hibernation/winter diet" or even an "Arctic diet", that you consume during winter in order to reverse insulin resistance, support heat production during the cold weather and keep you sustained when food is scarce and body weight may go down. Meanwhile, a more expanded paleo diet is for the summer half, where you consume easily available and more sugary foods in order to "bulk up" before winter. This is in essence what omnivorous animals do, and so it's argued as healthy for humans to do this as well, for all the same reasons as the paleo diet and the keto diet are regarded as improving health. This is even kinda what bodybuilders do by default with their bulks and cuts and seasonal dieting, although they of course follow their bodybuilding competition seasons instead. In short, bulking is often done in dirty ways with high carbohydrate consumption, and over time the athletes may start to physically feel the effects of insulin resistance. This is then reversed during phases of low carb and caloric cuts.
@newfoundling92754 жыл бұрын
I started keto to help with insulin resistance, I think I might be type 2 but I can't see a doctor because of corona. I saw an improvement in about 2 days. I'm vegan. Yes, I supplement with B12. But everyone should take B12. The only reason people who eat a normal western diet ingest B12 is because the animals they eat were given B12. It's called bio-accumulation. Same way you get mercury and methianine from eating fish. Same way you ingest growth hormone and a bunch of other shit from eating animals and animal products. Look, the real way to eat a vegan diet properly is to eat an abundance and variety of WHOLE FOODS! If you're worried about omegas, eat chia seeds or hemp hearts with your oatmeal (also packed with protein). If you're worried about zinc, eat some beans (again, packed with proteins). Honestly, I've found ZERO drawbacks to going vegan. And since this is a fitness channel, I can say without a doubt, I've gotten stronger, recovered faster, and felt better after my workouts since making the switch. EAT PLANTS!

Chris C, the debate over dietary cholesterol affecting blood cholesterol is a long one. Suffice it to say, if you don’t eat meat and dairy, you have much lower health risks. If you DO eat meat and dairy, you’re at a much higher risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, etc. Studies show that vegans have the lowest LDL and total cholesterol of any group. Atherosclerosis can not occur within optimal blood cholesterol ranges. Meat and dairy are not necessary for humans to maintain health. Plants are.

I feel like at least the body composition part is legit but youd have to be SUPER accurate (for example, only roasting meat via open fire). There is a whole study regarding why people with receded jaws are becoming common (same with why we even have wisdom tooth) and it has to do with how our diet changing into softer food consumption via cooking led to our jaws getting smaller hence why we get crooked teeth and receded jaws. Or you're just a mouth breather. Iirc there was evidence shown comparing "third world" groups who've stuck to eating traditional food compared to modern food and the traditional people tend to have straighter teeth and stronger jaws, even though they had no dental history

I'm vegan and consume ~1800 calories a day (female) and I eat waaay more food than they showed... Just for reference, here's my meals I've prepped for a typical day this week: Breakfast: Overnight oats (w/nut milk, spices, raspberries, banana, nuts, flax) Lunch: Curry and rice (coconut milk, spices, butternut squash, broccoli, chickpeas, lentils, tomatoes and an onion) Dinner: Bowls (brown rice pasta/brown rice, broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale, baked&seasoned tofu, baked&seasoned chickpeas) Snacks: grapefruit, blueberries and this wicked "cookie dough" I made out of chickpeas (It's a chickpea week...) I weigh ~126 lbs at 5'3'' and supplement D3 (especially in the winter in Canada as you only can get it from the SUN) and B12 and an additional algae source of omega 3 for good measure. Vegans aren't the only ones low in those vitamins. Just so you know, the majority of livestock is supplemented B12 due to bad soil quality. I am living my best life as a vegan and this video just made veganism look SAD.

I've tried all of those diets. Definitley the keto diet was the best in terms of burning fat and losing weight as fast as possible. However, I performed worse in the gym on the Keto diet compared to any other diet I have ever tried. I could bench 185 for ten reps before Keto, and when I was on Keto I could do it for maybe 3 or 4 reps. I lost insane amounts of strength and stamina, I hated it. Yea I lost a ton of fat as well but it took a long time to get back to that level. I prefer a balanced diet, just lower my calories by about 500 and I'm good.

I do keto vegetarian and I mostly eat way more protein than the recommended amount. Keto by prescription is moderate protein (~20%), low carb (5%), and high fat (75%). I eat way more protein, like 30-35% and a little more carbs, around 10-15%, but I stick to extremely low insulinogenic carbs (broccoli, brussels sprouts, etc). The rest is fat. I usually maintain ketosis, but at an extremely low level. Anything .5 or above is considered ketosis and I'm usually in the .8-1 range. Anyways, by eating that more modified way I feel like I can maintain exercise a lot better. Although, I do HIIT training mostly and not anything as intense as you do. Not sure if you'd have to modify it further still because of your particular exercise regiment. You might find the cyclical keto diet or the targeted keto diet more palatable. These are diets where you consume carbs, but at different times. In TKD you take glucose before working out and then have protein and more glucose after. The rest of the time you maintain a low insulin state. In CKD you eat low insulin say 3-4 days a week and then high insulin say 3 days a week. It varies. Some people do low 6 days, high 1 day. It'd depend on how quickly you deplete muscle glycogen. The faster you go through it the easier it is for you to stay in ketosis. I personally never could make either work without eventually ending up eating carbs again. But you might have a different experience because you likely aren't as insulin resistant as I am and you train more than I do.

@Dragon X In the U.S, approximately 1,620,000 people are vegan. The average meat eater's meat consumption contributes to the death of 100 animals every year. So yeah, individually, we might not make much of a difference. But together, vegans save approximately 162,000,000 animals every year. How many animals did you consume who were fed plants that were grown in an unsustainable way? A diet that includes animal products requires far more plants to create. For example, huge amounts of the amazon are being destroyed to grow feed for animals and for grazing cattle. Eating the plants directly is way more sustainable. The environmental benefits of consuming a vegan diet are well documented. A vegan diet produces less greenhouse gas emissions and those who consume a vegan diet have a much smaller carbon footprint. No one can force you to consume a vegan diet. You don't have to. But why do you feel the need to detract from the good others are doing?
@miriam78725 жыл бұрын
@Dragon X Have you EVER looked at the greenhouse gas emissions a living animal produces? Have you heard about the food chain/web? You have to feed animals a shitton of food to keep them alive. Only about 10% of that is actually converted into animal, the rest is made into CO2, heat, Methane and goes out the other side. Vegans are conserving energy by simply leaving out this wasteful and cruel middle step.

Thank you for pointing out the benefits of a varied vegan diet. I think it’s important to note that many of the nutrients you mentioned that are low in a vegan diet can still be met as long as you focus on them. Also, supplements are cool. I would also add that vegans should be aware of their lysine intake. Lysine is a particular amino acid that can be difficult to find in plant foods. That’s why when you look for vegan protein supplements, you hear about complete protein, means it has all the amino acids you need. Anyways, point is be sure to add legumes to your vegan diet or something like the protein shake in the video.
