Edit: Thanks for all the kind responses, i will make some videos on the subject soon:) Hey, great video. A few tips from a chef with 20years exerience if sombody wants it. 1) Dond't put so much meat in the Pan at once, you Will "Boil" it instead of giving it a Nice crust. 2) if you Boil vegetables and planning using ut later, then put the vegetables in freezing water RIGHT after you boiled it until its totaly cooled down. That way the vegs stays crunshy and more of the vitamins stays inside instead of damping out. 3)do NOT put hot food inside a locked container while its warm. Because then it takes a long time for it to Cool down, it Will continiue to cook and get way overcooked. But most importantly, there Will be a risk of the food to start a bacteria flow because you give them a perfect temperatuere and time to start to growe. Not trying to be a wiseass, just some tip for those of you WHO diden't know✌🏽

Is the food still gonna be good after lets say a week after the prep if you reheat it?
@Anfield_the_place_to_be
@Anfield_the_place_to_be 3 жыл бұрын
@@__kkiiidd Thats like answering : How long does it take to cook a steak😋. It depends how fresh the ingrediens are in the first place, how stable your cooling temperaure are, how fast you cooled the food down and how well you cooked the meat. But lets say you optimised all of theese thing, about 4-7 days if it's well locked! I would realy suggest to buy a cheap sous vide (vacum) machine. Then you can just put the bag in hot water, cut the bag and have totaly fresh food. I worked on a submarine for a couple of month, and we cooked all the food in a kitchen on land , sous vide it, and reheated it in the sub. I would dare to say it held a high standard both inn taste, but more important with al the vitamins intact! Sorry, i ranted on there😅🙊

@@mangalegends A big casserole with icecubes. Or just cold water if you dond't have icecubes, but then you need much more water . If you have a small container with water, the temperature will quickly rise. The point is to cool it down asap without loosing texture or vitamins

And most people think it's expensive, but it really isn't, when you divide the money equally through the days of the week, it ends up a lot cheaper than just grabbing some junkfood.
@esmee6308
@esmee6308 3 жыл бұрын
Going full food prep isn't for everyone though, I get flavour fatigued really easily and though I have the adherence to stick to a plan, I know it's easier to just whip up stuff on the day if my schedule isn't tightly packed or I'll just waste too much time thinking about what I'd rather had and stopping myself from going off-plan. If my schedule is tightly packed however food just becomes fuel and I get the most happiness and satiation just downing the cheapest macros I still enjoy eating (chicken/salmon, green beans, rice with some oil or dessert rice, oats with a little bit of vanilla protein and the rest thrown in my coffee with some whipped cream to hit the macros) since I'm frugal to a fault and without time to enjoy food I genuinely enjoy the cheapest/easiest over the easiest/tastiest. It's dumb but it's me. Going to buy myself a freezer soon to always have a variety of savoury meals meal-prepped available to me and to be better prepared next time I fall ill though. This way I can always take one out to defrost as I used up the previous one and chances are sometime in the week I'll either feel like that meal or I want something fast. I undereat so easily and am a freaking nightmare at forcing myself to eat due to childhood trauma, but I also want to be a bodyfat% I cannot afford to not hit my maintenance. So there's always some meal-prep laying around to make eating as easy as possible but mostly it's 50/50. I set myself some new endurance / walking goals so less time to cook anyway.

I had to adjust just slightly for my caloric goals, but I stuck with the overnight oats to a T. Here’s some advice for everyone: I believe the jars he is using are long neck pint jars. You cans use standard or wide mouth pint jars too, BUT, you have to mix the milk, oats, and protein powder FIRST, then top off with the yogurt. I had some fun doing some trial and error but it worked out in the end lol.

You guys have really inspired me to try meal prepping a week. My parents bought and never used their Ninja Foodi indoor grill/air fryer and gave it to me and my fiancé. This, and watching your videos really got me motivated to try meal prepping and I did. I portioned out basmati rice, green beans, and grilled chicken for week where each meal is about 800 calories for lunch. Combined with overnight oats and a protein shake I should hit my daily calories easy. Putting my food and nutrition into a different perspective really helped me understand that I was being careless and wrecking my body(along side seeing. Just meal prepped for the first time thanks to this video! Really excited, cooked it all yesterday and had the 3 course meal today. Really easy and cheap! All the food cost like $75 for the week which isn’t bad for 12 pounds of meat, that and I spent half of that going out to eat a few days ago so I’m stoked. (I get the discount meat that’s good til the end of the day, so it’s like %70 off). I will say the overnight oats are.... unique. They’re not bad! But they’re not good. The texture is really amazing in a weird way. Next week I’m going to try with vanilla protein powder and adding some cinnamon. Excited to see if I can handle eating the same meals every day. Also, a tip that’s helping me: I saved some of the juices from the slow cooker and pour it over my chicken right before re-heating it.

For the fat me: the important part was getting used to home cooked meals, which this meal plan totally helped me with. I still buy lots of chicken, bake it in a night and use it all week. But I've coupled the prepped chicken with exercising; I started skating again and riding my bike the 8 miles to work everyday. Then, once I arrive to work and once when I'm about to ride home I do a scoop of protein powder. I eat around 1,500 - 2,000 calories a day with this exercise. The restraint I learned having to stick to the diet in the video helped a lot and I'm proud to say I went from 220lb to 165lb(my healthy weight) then, back up to 173 lb today (the 8 pounds gained is muscle! I look great!) I also bought a pull up bar and do pull ups everyday now and my pecs are awesome, and I bet once I cut some abs will show more. So, as a success and a failure story my final thoughts are: this diet was great at teaching me restraint and meal prepping. It's probably too extreme to go from down with a thicc-ness like i was to full blown exercise gym goer like the guy in the video. I recommend sticking to the meal plan for a month, pairing it with exercise then chilling out a bit and counting calories after, slowly going down. After the month your cravings willl go down and It'll be easier to pass on the sugary snacks and the Habit of meal prepping will help you make better decisions. I've lost weight, have muscle showing and feel good. I might go back to this diet now that I'm trying to bulk. %100 recommend to do to gain muscle or to lose fat. Side note: the oatmeal breakfast was aweful; use vanilla protein powder with bananas to make it better. Edit: double side note: I meal prepped the Oats every 3 days, the longer they stayed sitting the worst they got. By day 7 I couldn't do it. If you can force it down, go for it

@Debasish Dutta yea! So I’ve noticed on Thursday’s at my local vons (your day will be different) all the chicken prices go on sale as their expiration date is coming up and they re-stock on Friday, I’m able to get more than a weeks worth of chicken for about $15 if I wanted to… however, I only get food for a week since FDFA recommends not storing anything in the fridge for more than 3 or 4 days. A 20lb bag of rice will cost you $20 at a local Asian mart but will last 1-2 months. Beans and veggies are cheap. I’d like to say I’ve been eating on about $30 or less a week. Granted, it’s higher than usual since everything’s gone up (a single bell pepper cost $2 now). Beautiful tip, those $1 seasoning packets you get at grocery stores are amazing. Get chicken seasoning, taco seasoning, fajita seasoning and you can make a $1 packet last a whole month since you only need a few punches per meal and it adds variety to the meal, the blandness was the hardest part for me. Use the chicken as a base, then switch the veggies up depending on the seasoning (You can prep all the veggies, dice em up and store them on meal prep day). For fajitas, just add the seasoning, mushrooms and bell peppers to your chicken. For taco seasoning, dice up some onions, and some parsley and jalapeño and shred the chicken with a fork. Throw some water on it to re hydrate the shredded chicken. There’s so much more options too. Stepped on a scale today, when I originally wrote the post I was 215lb now I’m 170, but have such a small amount of body fat and quite a muscley upper buddy. It’ll be nice to take my shirt off at the beach this summer.

Since you're doing the whole "boring" chicken/rice/broccoli thing here's a (im not a) pro tip: When boiling the rice, use chicken and beef broth or stock instead of water or just dump in some bouillon cubes. Adds a ton of flavor to an otherwise basic and boring side dish. As a matter of fact, if you can wait til the chicken is done before you do the rice, then use the naturally made chicken broth from the crockpot for the rice. I've gotten a lot of compliments from my rice by just changing this basic step

Using stock is a lost art. My grandmother (and my mother for a lot of years) kept jars of stock and lard/fats in the fridge. Seed oils killed that off somehow. Crazy. Totally backwards. Bacon on Sundays was a blessing and the collected fats were used in cooking the rest of the week. Everything tasted great. Literally every heritage recipe used lard and/or collected fats. You didn't need seasoning. European food was never bland as some people contend. It's just lost on how people used to make it. I mean Sunday nights were popcorn in front of the TV with bacon butter. None of us were fat!

Hey Buff Dudes, I recommend checking out an Instant Pot. It has made meal prepping even easier than before. You can cook 5lbs of chicken in about 15-20 minutes and tastes just like it was slow cooked. Rice cooks in 6 minutes. It’s amazing!

My advice to you , I would meal prep for about 3 days only with different foods. Knowing what you’re going to eat plays a huge psychological role because sometimes by knowing what you’re going to have for lunch or dinner can actually remove the desire of wanting to eat it Lol If it makes sense. So knowing you’ll be having a different meal can help overcome the “same meal” routine 🤮 Hope this helps👍
