Fun fact about Spike's accent: it's actually based on Anthony Head's (Giles) natural accent while Anthony puts on a more posh accent for Giles. And Spike was originally supposed to be Creole with a Louisiana bayou-based accent 😁

One of the most iconic scenes in the whole show when Spike ( one of the greatest characters in The Buffyverse ) rolls into town and drives right over the Sunnydale sign. School Hard is one of the greatest episodes of S2. James Marsters was so impressive in the role, he became an instant fan favourite. Some great writing in this episode, when Xander goes to get Buffy's bag and pulls out a yoyo, tampon and then stake, this shows Buffy from child, to teenager, to adolescent showing how she is growing up. Great too when Joyce clobbers Spike on the head with the axe. All in all a great episode for early S2 with Angel/Spike/Drusilla who have a shared history through the centuries to add to the arc of the Season.

Yes, the Vampire at the Bronze was the same one who claimed to be at the crucifixion. Spike was killing 2 birds with 1 stone. 1) he was learning about how Buffy fights, so that he can find her weakness. 2) He was getting rid of a competitor for leader of the Vamp Gang.

James Marsters is from Modesto, CA and Juliet Landau is from Los Angeles. Tony Head helped James with his accent. The Annoying One had to die. Children age too quickly for non-aging vampires. Ep 4 We were told Willow woukd ne wearing a hot outfit. Seth learned some basic guitar. The actual band they are miming to is Four Star Mary whom I became friends with after I moved here. Debon, the singer later wrote the movie American Sniper. Jonathan, who almost got kissed at the dance is Danny Strong who was actually in thr unaired pilot which had a different Willow. He went on to become a writer and director. He co-wrote the two Mockingjay Hunger Games films and wrote Lee Daniels' The Butler. He and Lee co-created the show Empire.

For some bizarre reason in the 1990s, teachers just assumed this crap by claiming we were all mature enough to make it back to the bus on time if we were over age 13 and taking attendance was "coddling." Oz definitely the coolest character in The Buffyverse. Nobody does laid back like Oz, his witty one liners and observations are brilliant throughout the whole show. When he says 'you're only interested in a girl who can walk or talk' reply 'she doesn't have to talk', the look on OZ's face. Inca Mummy Girl one of the weaker episodes of S2 Xander showing his complete innocence and gullibility. We all feel for Willow who at this stage in the show is so meek and quiet, always feeling looked over. We all seem to forget what an awful bully and generally horrible vacuous person Cordelia was, totally putting down Willow at every opportunity throughout the early parts of the show, we see that again here. The metaphor of the show saying basically looks aren't everything, and be careful as things are never what they seem. Jonathan gets a lucky escape here along with Xander also. Xander comes through at the end and saves Willow's life. Great foreshadowing again here with Xander and his 'taste in women'.

They killed the Annoying One (yes, that's his nickname in the Buffyverse) due to the fact that Joss Whedon one day basically was like, "wait, this is a kid, how are we going to continue this storyline with an immortal kid that never ages when real children age?" And so he was killed off. I honestly never understood why this kid was so powerful in the first place, or where the story would go. Master did most of the work and lines in S1. Aside from sitting down and having a line here, or there, all he really did to help was lead Buffy down to where the Master was. He never was shown his "power", or anything really, so I never understood where they were going with him anyway. And in rewatches I can't take him even more seriously due to how easily Spike was able to kill him. I mean, you're telling me all someone had to do was go rogue and just throw him over their shoulder like an actual child and could easily overpower him this entire time?

BUFFY'S MOM: Praises Buffy for thinking of others in a crisis. ACTUAL BUFFY: Leaves her "best friend" locked in a closet with Cordelia overnight. XANDER: Says he's not leaving until Buffy and Willow are safe. ALSO XANDER: Completely forgets about Willow, too. GILES: Promises Buffy that he'll keep Buffy's mom safe. ALSO GILES: Completely loses track of Joyce and walks off with Jenny, unconcerned. ANGEL: Spends the episode telling everybody what an unremitting badass Spike is. ALSO ANGEL: Forgets to check in with his girlfriend to see whether Spike has slain another Slayer. JENNY: As a teacher is *legally responsible* for the safety of her students at school events. ALSO JENNY: Wanders off into the night without trying to find any of her students. SPIKE: Is supposedly the most relentless badass vampire around. ALSO SPIKE: Gets bonked on the head *once* by Joyce and runs away. Some tough guy *you* are. I really hate this episode, especially the ending. Fantastic watching with you and having the great time the both of you are sharing . You also learned a lesson in Buffy storytelling An episode is often not over until the credits roll and critical dialogue can appear in scenes that other shows is as filler or what appears unimportant. Drusilla, as you probably know now, wasn’t a slayer. She was a _Saint._ Or at least, she would have become a Saint, had Angel not turned her. She was a pure, righteous and holy woman, with visions from the Powers That Be - something gifted to champions in the fight against evil. So it’s extra twisted that Angel made someone who was literally a Saint, chosen by the powers of Good into a vampire.

Spike & Dru were intended to be villains of the week and were to have died by the end of the episode (at least I believe Spike was to have been dusted) but the showrunners knew they could not just one and done those two. The rest is history.
