If you start him with season 1 then keep reminding him that it was a mid-season replacement and the budget sucked and they didn't even know the show would be picked up for a second season... and that it gets *much* better. If you want to skip season 1 then I recommend starting with S02E07, 'Lie to me.' It introduces all but one of the important characters highlighting their essential traits, provides more backstory than every other episode up to that point, sets the tone for the remainder of the series, and it's just a damn good episode almost guaranteeing that he'll fall in love with the show right off the bat. He could follow along from there without missing all that much.

Can we all put thumbs down on spoiler comments? That way at least she might know to skip it. It’s so frustrating to see them.
@princess20-sideddie954 жыл бұрын
@@thejisunband The problem is also what is considered a spoiler. Because maybe someone doesn't feel them saying "Oh, can hardly wait until you see episode x, it's so AMAZING!!" is a spoiler, but it certainly sets up a certain expectation in the reactor that can spoil how they view the episode. Especially if there are 50 other comments saying the same thing. Yet this kind of stuff is rampant all over reaction videos. You can't get rid of all of it, especially because most people think it's fine if they want to leave comments like this. I personally go with the maxim that if I didn't know it on the day the episode I'm commenting on aired, I don't say it. (Unless it's got a spoiler warning and is hidden below the "read more" button on the comment on channels that allow that.) And that includes future episodes as well as stories from cons, commentaries, interviews, etc and other behind the scenes stuff. And it means no comments like "Can hardly wait to see you react to episode x, it's my favourite of the whole show!" Because you didn't know that when that episode aired! (Simple rule, but too many don't follow it.) Comments like that may not be too bad if they were the only one saying it, but people need to remember that for especially popular episodes like your favourite is likely to be, the reactor is getting tons of comments from other people too, saying that episode is a favourite....and it will affect how they go into the episode when they watch. Not to mention, reactors will get 50 comments saying to watch out for this amazing episode, plus 3 comments saying this episode changes everything, 2 comments saying about how the show really got serious with this episode and 2 other comments with "clever" hints that give enough away that the reactor can easily figure out what's going to happen, now that they're paying special close attention to how this episode is going to be amazing and change everything. YOU AREN"T THE ONLY ONE LEAVING COMMENTS SO EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT GIVING AWAY ANYTHING MAJOR, 100 COMMENTS GIVING AWAY LITTLE PIECES ADDS UP TO THE WHOLE THING! AND THEY GET COMMENTS ON OTHER PLATFORMS SO JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T SEE ANY OTHER COMMENTS LIKE YOURS HERE DOESN'T MEAN THEY AREN'T GETTING THEM ON PATREON OR SOCIAL MEDIA! (Sorry, this is a sore spot for me.) Looking at what happened to Liam Duke recently, I don't think it's possible to keep reactors completely spoiler free, unfortunately. They went after him about Buffy in comments on other show reactions and on his social media accounts.Those people were freaking entitled! It's sad, but too many people feel entitled to make comments that give crap away as long as it isn't an actual plot point plainly stated. (And there are even some jerks who will deliberately do that in order to spoil people on purpose.) People never think this applies to them and give away so much more than they realize they're giving away. (Or don't care, because they don't think it's anything "major".) And it's sad because while they're ruining it for the rest of us (and the reactor!), they're ruining it for themselves at the same time. If you do find a way to stop it, though, let me know, would love to use it elsewhere!

It's not that Angel "had practice" fighting a demon inside him; it's that he *has* a demon inside him that, due to his Angelness, hasn't had a good fight for a while. His pre-existing demon fought the invading demon and won.

I have no idea if Giles and Ethan had a little something going on back in the day in the canon of the story, but it sure feels like the actors were playing it that way, and I LOVE it. Ethan is one of my favorite minor characters on the merits of his chemistry with Giles alone, let alone his general chaotic asshole charm.

A good thing with this series is that even though they do the "monster of the week" thing periodically, they don't waste those episodes but instead have them tie in for more characterisation, so even if the monster plot of that episode doesn't necessarily have much impact on the ongoing story, it can provide extra context for how characters react in later situations.

"tammy reacts" just reacted to this episode today as well, I'm loving this. In my opinion (your mileage may vary) there are no bad episodes left in this season, eps. 2 and 5 seemed by-the-book but the show has found its footing. I was surprised you didn't see Ethan's name on the list when Giles was crossing off names. Details can be important. I was disappointed he escaped... again.

I love your enthusiasm. That’s how I feel about these episodes, some good stuff and some super cheesy funny stuff but it’s all enjoyable.

This is a great episode. Love when a bit of the Ripper attitude comes out of Giles. He is a badass under his twead exterior. He has to be responsible as an adult but deep down wooooo, darkness.
