I tried a Bugera Infineum amp several years ago. Can't remember what model it was but it sucked bad. The one in this video sounds a ton better. Maybe that's why they stopped making them for a few years to figure out how to make them sound good.

Bugera is a seriously criminally underrated amplifier manufacturer. Despite the older models' power supplies being IEDs (or something like that lol), they still delivered a good-sounding product for a very affordable price! (This next part might get me some backlash but eh, it's a consequence of voicing one's opinion lol) I actually sold my old Dual Rectifier a few years ago to acquire a 333XL and ended up using the left-over money from the DR to invest in other music gear; personally, I couldn't for the life of me get a decent tone out of the Mesa whereas I set up the 333 the way I knew how to dial it in and it put the Mesa's tone to shame, in my opinion.

The Trirec went away because the profit margin was not there for the model. I own one, and absolutely love it. They are not huge on the aftermarket either, people just aren't getting off of them. Bugera had major quality issues on early models. But, pretty much anything in the Infinium line is good to go.
@Archlegan

Finally got myself a trirec after looking for a long time and I agree. They're great and definitely do the dual rec thing. $450 plus shipping, criminally under-rated. The trirec model was hand-built, so that's why the profit margins made them discontinue, and I believe they settled out of court with Mesa over the Magician. I have the 333XL and a 6260 as well, and I happen to fuckin hate Peavey and Mesa so it's a beautiful thing imo lol

Thanks for this chug test! It does sound a lot like the Blackstar HT5H, from what I can hear. Right down to the muddier "UK" setting. Pedantic comment of the day: the Trirec was actually a copy of the Dual Rectifier (2 rectifier tubes on Trirec and Dual Rectifier vs. 3 on Triple Rectifier). It did have 3 rectification modes though (all tubes, all diodes, mixed). 😁 Great amp, I'm very pleased with mine. Too bad they stopped selling it.

If it was $2k, Id still buy it. Its fantasy land for the home guitar player. Always juggling the line between volume and tone, or only ever having one set of EQ. Please do it for every home metal guitarist across the world. After all, that's what the Swedes do in older times right :) Bring the crushing sounds of death :)

The way I see it, the amp nearly doesn’t matter. So long as it’s setup for high gain, it’s gonna chug. IMO The thing that matters really is the cab selection. For metal, make it heavy with 4 v30’s in it and it probably can’t sound bad no matter what you do. Lol I got an engl 4x12 pro loaded with v30’s and it just makes any amp sound amazing. Had mine for 4 years now, mostly with a 2x12 V30 cab, but overkill for home use. I've used a TS9 and a boss distortion pedal. Max vol 9n 5W and 1W setting, with about 3 gain, set the ts to a small vol boost and small gain boost and you can flip between Malcolm on a Gretsch and Angus on the SG with the schaeffer radio system. Considering replacing with a 1x12 or a Harley Benson 15w combo that everyone is raving about.

Sounds pretty good actually. It would be nice in the home setup to have a tube amp in the house. I think the Marshall DSL1 sounded a bit better and is roughly the same price range.

I've been playing that v head for a couple years through the 1x12 version of that cab. Had to try it for the price, and I really like it. Effects loop, and the ability to switch the output between 5, 1, and 0.1 watts as well.

Hey mate, you should definitely try the Bugera 1990. I currently use the G5 for practice and 1990 for jams. It’s a JCM900 copy and the gain goes to 22! No need for a ts9 or or pedal.

Shortest tiniest backstory because i know you don't care. Early amps had quality control issues, so they stopped making them, fixed them, and released a smaller line of amps (ditched the trirec) under the Infinum branding. The G5 here is a clone of the Blackstar HT5. They have clones of the Vox Night Train, Peavey 5150 II and JSX/XXX, as well as 2 clone Marshall amps

The Infinium range from Bugera is actually amazing for the ridiculously low price, decent build quality, a tone totally comparable to their full priced counterparts, and most importantly the Infinium technology that (basically) automatically sets up the BIAS at any moment, which lets you very easily change any broken tube, and most importantly, just plug in and out any tube you want in it and do crazy pairings that could not be possible otherwise! It also makes it the perfect mod platform if you're into that, or just lets you wait for money to upgrade it if you're part of the broke ones like me haha. I highly recommend em for any guitar player on a budget that wants an actual full on tube amp!

I talked about this with Warbringer's rhythm guitarist who told me that he recorded the entire World Torn Assunder album with a Bugera 120 head and loved it! (the 5150 copy) I have the 2x12 combo version of it, got it used but in good condition for 350 bucks (cheaper than some pedals lol) and let me tell you it totally delivers! And it stands up to his brothers that cost 10x more! Obviously not as clear and a little muddier but the sound quality difference is so tiny compared to the price difference, it's honestly shocking

I had a Bugera 100w with a 4x12. It was the cheapest tube amp in the late 2000s I think. Couldn't tell you the model. Super versatile and it sounded better than my other amps. Was in San Fran and it got stolen. Still bummed about it. However, I did have to do a warranty repair after a few months after purchase. The standby light crapped out and it was a four month adventure trying to get it fixed.
