Build a cool suit on a budget, the easy way.

Tired of being uncomfortably hot, premature fatigue and heat stroke while driving your racecar? Don't have air conditioning? Can't afford a professionally built cool suit system? This DIY cool suit system from Ultra Chiller is the answer to all of your issues. Well maybe just the overheating ones.
This was a super easy DIY that cost about $260.

I've thought about installing a coolsuit system in my daily (1989 Civic Si) cause it's AC went out a couple years ago; I was shocked by how expensive the prebuilt solutions are for how simple they are in terms of component parts. This video was exactly what I needed to get the measure of a DIY solution, and that kit looks amazing! Thanks for bringing some very useful (and less common) content to the drift community! :)

Don't beat yourself up over the crimps instead of solder. Unless you do a LOT of soldering, crimping is superior, especially in high-vibration environments. Great video.

It gets up to the 110s here sometimes AND my body cant regulate temperature anymore so I overheat even when it's not very hot... Thank you for this video this is a life saver literally 😭

Why not use a 12 volt cooler with a mini radiator a recirculation pump instead of a sump or bilge pump . It would be lighter

I’m thinking this pump and cooler full of ice water would make a really good tire cooler, except with no return line, of course. You showed one in a previous video, but I think that guy used a window washer fluid tank

Hey Evan. If you have one of these lying around, would you be open to trying it with a hazmat suit, to see how long it takes until it heats up too bad? There's a cooling problem with hazmat suits, and this would be interesting to try, since it's more open to DIY and lay people, over industrial.

Awesome video, subbed for part 2. Curious how many amps that pump requires, you think it might be a little sketchy running thru the cigarette lighter? I figure your cigarette lighter output runs a 5-10 amp fuse. Might be better to run a separate switch with proper gauged wire right to the battery to avoid possible electrical fire. Just a thought, what do you think?

Pretty Decent Garage according to the spec sheet, it pulls a max of 1.8a so I feel pretty good about the cigarette lighter power.

I thought the point of a cooling suit was to be portable, so you can walk around with it...........if it's just for inside the car, why not get a car battery, a power converter and a mini portable ac? Or on a cheap cheap budget, a Styrofoam cooler, cut a hole on the side, hook a small fan to a dryer vent tube, then make a similar hole with dryer vent coming from top, fill with bag of ice mixed with rock salt and you have a cheap, well working car a/c for under 30 dollars.

I want to build one for my bike but at 8 lbs per gallon swooshing water from one side to the other will wreck you 4 sure. The container has 2b one that doesn't let the water move but a little. Barring that the only solution I see is a DC compressor & a li-ion battery pack chiller. Peltier won't go far enough under the ambient temperature.

I've been after some of those double shut off quick release connectors for ages now! I can only find Carb Fuel Connectors, but they leak due to the constant pressure of fluid, rather than Carburetors which don't release constant fluid pressure. Any idea where to get some? Seem to be non-existent here in the UK lol

Did you wire a switch into the pump or just unplug it when not needed? If a switch is used to control flow rate would that work too?

I wired a switch into the dash panel. I'm not sure if this motor likes any sort of voltage regulation, but I found that 100% flow is good and if you get too cold, you can just turn it off for a few minutes.

It's a ways away, but the short version is: The system is awesome except for the cooler. It cracked and ruined the seals after 2 track days due to the pressure from the tie down. Spend a few more dollars and get a better cooler with a watertight seal and lockable lid.
