I just bingewatched your entire content...in about 30 minutes :D Like your style of videos, and really appreciate a "novice's" take on it. Often when I'm doing entry-level research for my own setup, some channels are showing off equipment worth a lot more than I'm willing to spend. Most mic reviews put a lot of focus on instruments - I'm not a musician, I just want to sound better over calls. Please keep the videos coming! Greenscreens sounds like a great idea, by the way. It's something that I looked into very briefly, but shelved due to moving house at the time.

A huge yes to the green screen video! :-) Please help us understand how you make this fabulous black background. Was it ever green? How should we use lighting to get the most out of black background? Another idea for a future video -- what is the best way to position the speaker vis-a-vis camera? Sitting at the desk? Standing up? If standing, using a podium or something like that? Moving or stationary? Sit/stand turning your body straight towards the camera? Or at an angle?
@JulieSchiro4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kate! Thanks for the green screen vote!! Also, regarding the black background - that is paper (in the earlier videos, black fabric)! I film mostly against the black background. I tried using the greenscreen and swapping a black background in, but it looks unnatural. Also, great idea for another video - I was thinking of doing something on how to be more engaging in virtual presentations. Would be perfect to talk about those points. Thank you!

REALLY enjoy your clear, concise videos, and that you demonstrate sound differences when referencing different mics. Truly helpful. Look forward to your next video. :)

Girl, I just binged watched your 5 videos. I’ve been a KZbinr for 2 years and I don’t have as much subscribers than you. Your content is amazing, easy to watch. And not boring like the mansplainers of technology. Snooze fest. Please don’t stop. You are funny, cute, and most of all extremely informative. I was legit about to drop money on the kizo with ring light until you literally made me take it out of my amazon cart. Now I’m just gonna use my iphone12 pro. Again, get back on KZbin, you are so good at it! I’m subbing so I know exactly when your next video will be.

Hi Julie, your first three videos have been super helpful to me in setting up a small home 'studio' space - mostly for upping my game for Video Conferencing at work, somehow your video about microphones came up in a search and was easily the most helpful video I found on the matter for my circumstances. Thanks for the great content and I wish you the very best with what I am sure is going to become a successful KZbin channel - you're a joy to watch and the content has been really helpful, thank you!

Nicely done. I mostly do professional video conferencing from home and use both the Logitech c920 and the Brio webcams. The free Logitec Capture video software allows for basic camera settings to tune in the right tone, brightness, hue, zoom and then have that setting used for ANY video conferencing software. Will move up to OBS soon. Rather than a microphone I use Plantronics (now Poly) conference speaker phones - made for business conferencing with good voice quality speaker and multiple array microphones. Ring lights are great - especially color adjusting ones with remote control. To get that "office video conferencing look" I use a 43 inch TCL 4/5 series 4K monitor and set it up with a camera on top to set me back a bit behind my home work desk (no super close up) and still be able see multiple people on the call and visibly read documents presented on screen. I am installing a ceiling hung pull down green screen next.

Hi Brian! Your set-up sounds awesome. I would loooove a pull down green screen. I don't know the poly conference phones. I love using OBS. Total Zoom gamechanger!

Just getting started with online webinars and I’ve learned more from your handful of short videos than I have from any other source. Please, please, please... make a green screen video. I think this is something that could really benefit my teaching but I’ve no idea where to begin. Looking forward to seeing more great content from you!

So glad this channel popped up on my feed! You’re an amazing presenter and organize the information so well! I’ll check your other videos out, but some teacher specific posts could be really helpful. Grade school teachers are still feeling overwhelmed!

Thank you so much Wes! And from one teacher to another, I get it. What a year. What teaching- specific content do you think grade school teachers would find most useful?

@@JulieSchiro two that I can think of, watching my wife deal with this transition. First, since teachers are, by and large, going to be stuck with their school laptop webcams (they’re already lugging stuff back and forth from school and never know where they’re going to be on a given week). Some easy, and stable, ways to avoid “up the nostrils” shots. Then maybe creative ways to use OBS’s virtual cam feature to add some dynamism to the teacher stream (add a stream deck and things could be fun).

Hi Wes, thanks so much for the reply! Hadn't considered the issue of portability. Great ideas. I think some OBS videos are in order...

@@JulieSchiro if my wife was in a set space, I'd have her set up with my snoball on a swing arm, and my G7 set up as her camera!
