In this video I walk you step by step through the building of a simple stepstool. The only power tools used are a drill, a jigsaw, and a mitre saw.
Using some pine boards from the local building supply store, you should be able to build one of these in about an hour or less.
I see this as a good beginner project. I learned how to make these stepstools at a woodshow over ten years ago, and we then helped hundreds of kids at the woodshow build one themselves.

Just a little tip I,ve picked up over the years, if you are cutting plywood with a jigsaw try using a metal cutting blade, It reduces splinters and ragged edges 😮

I was looking for dimensions for a simple bench. This should work wonderfully. Thanks! I think I will leave the leg pieces as one large pice until after I use a large hole saw to make a hole in the center. It seems like it may be a quicker/more precise way to make the arch.

Art, I noticed the plywood for dust control on the back of your table saw. I looked for a video of you doing that "upgrade", but didn't find one. If you didn't do one how about considering it. Thanks Grampa Cross P.S. Thanks for all you honesty, it's refreshing.

I put those in years ago. The one is friction fit, the other has a magnet. There's not much to say, they just close in the back a bit. But I'll consider it.

to be honest this project could be done with the drill and a home center panel saw, with slightly less fancy legs. Drill the biggest hole you have a bit for at the top of a V for the two legs on a side, and make some straight cuts up to that for the legs.
@Wordsnwood
@Wordsnwood 3 жыл бұрын
there's usually more than one way to do things in woodworking! (That said, most home centre panel saws in my experience are beat up and dull, and I would not want to use their cut as a finished edge!)

@@Wordsnwood I meant the cheap hand saw you can get there, not that fancy power tool thing they use for plywood.
