I really like your idea of using turnbuckles. As the wood ages, you can accommodate the deformation.

I just got a 92 Power Ram in garage and need to swap beds and pull the cab.....and I find this video, perfect

I used to do this with boat inboard engines I wanted to pull out. Pick the engine up 10’ in the air - move the boat on trailer, and drop the engine to a engine stand. Worked great

It's only for you. I expected you to drill out the holes larger for the eye bolts in the steel studs and weld in a solid bushing to keep them from crushing it.

I considered it, but it's pretty thick walled already. I think I'd snap off the bolt before crushing it.

Doctor Torque could do it.

Where's the "money shot", lifting the cab off?
@YoshimoshiGarage2 жыл бұрын
I've not done it yet. I still have to mount the winch.

So it has slicks on the right side and traction treads on the left? Previous owner take the deep inside line at the local oval track?
@YoshimoshiGarage Жыл бұрын
It actually came with 3 dirt slicks and some farm tire. Evidently it's what he had lying around to get it to roll.

i have quite few spare 5 by 5 laying around, i assume this would be good enough for frame of gantry right? no need to lift past 1000 pounds, i have fixed one for that. neat idea of making disassemble friendly crane, havent seen many of those around ;)
@YoshimoshiGarage Жыл бұрын
My only concern with a 5x5 is the cross beam. You're probably going to get some deflection/bending if you have 1000 pounds on the center with a wide span. I doubt it would break, so it will work, just be sure to keep it in mind if you make it "just tall enough" for a job.

@@YoshimoshiGarage tnx for answer; i could always use different sized wood for horizontal part of crane,or make "sandwich" version of it (5 by5 as core, with 2" thick and 10+" wide planks placed vertically on each side, preventing unnecessary bending middle part of crane)
