I believe you should build a pad, not a house for the eagles. Around here in New England, Hawks and eagles tend to build on top of a lot of the telephone poles in the area, effectively turning them into home pads. A lot of bird watchers in the area have also erected flat pads on top of some of the poles for the eagles and Hawks to nest.

I'm from Florida and we had more than 20 mated pairs of eagles around my home town who were nesting on top of cell towers. So yeah, I'd say you're right, a pad is a much better idea.

I'm in the Cleveland Ohio area. Eagles are making a comeback around here . Fish and game wardens watch the Eagles like Hawks,,, no pun intended,, do you know if you could be breaking a law by building something for them to nest in?

I work on the Navy base in Pensacola FL. High voltage electrical/power lineman. We set 45 foot poles with flat pads on them for the ospreys to nest on. Bald eagles will use the as well. We put the platform on the pole top then set the pole. They like them for sure.

Definitely not a "house" for Sam. But a platform, bowl-like or flat, at least 6-foot diameter. And it has to be AT LEAST 30 feet up from the highest ground, but probably closer to 50 feet high.

Probably the backyard if I had to guess. Bonnie and Clyde are little more chill but putting moby in the five acres a scary thought. Cause now he's out there with all the little ones little ones as in younger bass. I'm sure they'll be a lot closer in size by the time he releases them but yeah it'll be crazy once he gets one of them out there. Can't wait! 😎

With the acorns it is the ones that sink that are good. If they float means they are hollow cause either the seed hasn't formed properly or some kind of insect has gotten in there. I have grown lots of oaks from acorns and for me I have gotten 85-90% germination rates out of them. Within a month of having them in the fridge you should see them starting to sprout. Some of them can be quite large be the time you take them out. They are so much fun to watch grow. The bigger the pot you can put them in to start the faster they will grow. Their taproot tends to be pretty long and digs down quite quickly. If your pot is to small you will have roots poking out the bottom in a couple weeks.

yeah that thing was pretty massive given how little time it's taken to reach that size. But you can tell they're eating. I'm sure we'll see him replenish the shad here next spring (maybe sooner) as you can see they have pretty much gone through that whole batch and they're like gone now. I hope they keep growing and someone from the channel makes it out there one of these days 😎

You might consider some hybrid chestnut trees. The whole eastern forest from New Hampshire down to Mississippi was dominated by american chestnut before the blight took it out 120 years ago. Chestnuts were deer's favorite food to fatten up in the fall and be in peak condition for the rut.

Really nice piece of property you have! A vegetable garden and I would never leave! As a city kid from Bridgeport Illinois, my favorite memories was living in N. Barrington on the Fox River, we had a vegetable garden on our neighbors property which me & my brothers had the honor to weed, river mosquitoes just tore us up! Your daughter is very lucky to have parents that understand that soon enough an electric bill will arrive with her name on it! So I hope she enjoys her youth in the country! We put up a couple of Osprey platforms on our property in the Cariboo, BC, in 2017 and after two years a pair of Ospreys began to use the most isolated one. They have raised three chicks each of the last three years. We love to hear their calls. Ospreys will love to eat your fish, and eagles will love to eat your ducks. Thanks for making such great videos. Vancouver, Canada.

This reminded me of when I worked on a diesel irrigation pump for a citrus grove. One of the workers told me to look in the water after we started the pump. The vibration brought bass towards the shallow area of the small pond near the water intake to pick off the small fish that lost cover from the level dropping. Like ringing a dinner bell. Fish are smarter than people think.

I am in Colorado. We also have a pond. Our pond is 7 acres and is 15 years established. We have several pairs of rapters that nest, here in the rockies the eagles do prefer the platform nests. Please check with your local wildlife agency about the bald eagle. In certain areas out here it is a finable offense to engage with bald eagles.

I’m down here in Baldwin county. I added 150 lbs of live crawfish to mine about five years ago and I have yet to see a crawfish chimney or any other sign of one. And they had PLENTY of places to hide. The only positive from it is that the bass would absolutely hammer anything that resembled a crawfish after that.

for an eagle nest get a large utility pole and then at top frame a square with struts going to pole. get some large sticks and start the nest structure. the eagles will probably see it and start to add more sticks to nest and use it. you can run a smaller pole up next to it then for a perch and a camera. Try to put it nearish some trees too so young eagles could glide to them when fledging

An eagle nesting cam would be great. Needs to be a flat 4’x4’ square with 6” walls. Maybe a cover 3-4’ above with a 1x1 post in each corner holding up the roof. Angle the roof so 4’ sloped down to 3’ in the rear. For a clear entry and protective rear, while they can build a huge nest for two adults and some chicks to all fit together.

All is well in the homefront, seasons ebb and flow, all of us that’s been here since day one are SO JOY FILLED at the comfort and continuity of life on the pond! If I had the money I would have tried to watch the amazing talents of Nate, and entered; however, considering the number of men here who’s DREAMS are fullfilled by this-I hope they win lol. Thank you for it all it’s so tranquil to see the wildlife-ITS LIFE🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
