This series is so incredible. Not only do you focus on the actual building of the physical pond, you also focus on the ecological growth of the pond and surrounding wildlife. If it were simply a pond video I would have probably stopped being so interested months ago... I come back every time to see what new creature has found a home and how this whole area continues to thrive with all of the things added to make it a wildlife sanctuary. We'll done I appreciate living this experience through your expert commentary and filming.

I agree. I had always thought that all you have to do in order to make a pond is to dig a hole and fill it with water. This series has shown me how little I know; but it has also taught me an awful lot. A fascinating series!

To be quite clear this is literally human manipulation of "the mother" to fit selfish needs. Absolutely love this series, but think of the implications on the natural environment. How much water is prevented from reaching the natural water ways, for one? Not to mention the TONS of clay and lime not normally found in this spot. Needless to say the land was already torn up by generations of agriculture. But if you're talking about "giving back" you'd be talking about restoration and not further intervention.

7:30 Gambusia affinis, the Mosquitofish. They probably came in with the shad and fatheads, since they are used everywhere to help control mosquitoes. Sometimes the local mosquito authority or board will intentionally insert them into new ponds, and having talked to some of Mosquito Control workers a number of times, they can and will do this without even asking permission. Not saying that is what happened but it is a possibility. 10:35 Carolina Wrens will nest ANYWHERE! I nailed a couple old boots to posts and under the awnings of a shed, toe-down, and they nested in every one of them.

I`v seen a pond build before, to give the young fish and new born`s a fighting chance, he took chicken coop wire in about 10 ft wide sections in about four places around the pond, and 8 ft out, even with the top of the water, of course stakes to keep it in place, that way the young have a place of refuge, where the bigger fish can`t get to them. Thank you for putting this on line, so we could watch it grow.

I think it would be a great idea if you put a wild flower meadow in some of the areas of the pond. They are a lot easier to maintain than lawn or grass (only have to be mown once a year) and add a lot biodriversity. You'll be surprised how quickly the wildlife comes, everything from butterflies to bees, birds and even a lot of mamals. Last year I turned a part of my garden into a meadow and since then I have been able to learn so much more about plants and animals by simply observing instead of constantly having to mow.

I once lived on the edge of town in Oxford Mississippi in the mid 70's. I used to explore while riding my motorcycle and found a pond a mile or two back in the woods. It was about 15 acres with a short (about 80 yards long and quite high) but big sturdy earthen dam. The story was that it was built in the 30's by the CCC. There were a few smaller minnows in it but the only other fish I encountered were bluegill and largemouth bass. No telling who put them there or when. So far as I know I was the only person fishing there for about 3 years. The pond was in the woods so I couldn't fish from the banks except in a couple places near the dam. So, I fished the rest of the pond from the water offshore by wearing chest waders. Sometimes I used a bass rod and sometimes a fly rod. I caught and ate a lot of bass while I went to college in Oxford (Ole Miss). A note of interest was that the bass were hungry and relatively easy to catch, but they were all about three quarters of a pound, some maybe an ounce or two bigger. I never caught anything bigger than that. Obviously over stocked with bass for the amount of food to be found. I also never caught or even saw any large bluegill. On several occasions I bought several dozen minnows from the bait store at Lake Sardis about 8 miles out of town and dumped them into the pond.

Hello Parker, I just wanted to say that my family and I love, love, love what you have accomplished and making us feel included. I have a question and that is do you think you might ever introduce any type of Catfish or Buffalo fish to Crimson pond or a future pond?

Thank you so much, I was just watching those horrible people from the NRA trying to explain how it's not the guns that we need to regulate it's doors. So I needed this before my blood pressure went through the roof.

Aww the babies hatched! Too cute, and I say, yeah babies are all cute! Your peaceful wondrous pond with all that life IS worth watching for hours! This is also such a perfect demonstration of an enriched and full life we ALL want. Helps us to dream, and know how diligently one works, not hard if it’s a joy! Your body might say different at the end of the day, but it’s a GOOD ache! Thank you so much as always, BLESSINGS OF LOVE 🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️

Bama, as a advocate follower, I have been looking forward to your update for over 14 days and I feel this video was more like a two day kinda update than a two week update. I feel let down a bit as majority of the video was about the ducks. A lot of my excitement revolves with the pond build. I initially got invested with the construction, then the filling of the pond, and now with the bass that are soon to come. We all know how long each of these steps in this process took as it was weeks before water was even added to the pond, then weeks for it to fill up. And we have yet to add the stars of the show which are the bass that are soon to come. With this long process, before I knew it I was already six months to a year invested in watching your videos. Few things I never saw like the price accumulation total etc. but, after waiting patiently everyday for two weeks, I expected a little more and a little less about the newly hatch baby ducklings which I can appreciate. Thank you for the uploads and I can appreciate your dedication as I understand how much time and dedication goes into each of your videos!
