@@campervibe re: battery issue, might be worth grabbing yourself a cheap trickle charger to keep the new main battery in good shape over the winter. Or just use your onboard ac to dc charger to charge it directly. Small bit of wiring involved but would allow you to use 240 ehu to keep all batteries charged 👍

I live in the Scottish Highlands and over 10 years i have befriended many Pine Martens, their favourites are peanuts, sultanas and cheap eggs all in a container, and slowly move the container to where you want to meet them, inside or out, eventually you will be able to give them an egg by hand. They're funny creatures; they have this terrible reputation, but having one regular visitor, they seem to for the most part happily forage on fruit & seeds & eggs, & insects, & the horror stories of them killing entire coops of hens are probably overdone, but they do love eggs of all sorts :) I throw my old eggs out around the garden, & my favorite trail-cam footage starts with two Magpies fluttering around & chattering madly, & then the pine marten appears with an egg in its jaws looking very pleased. In Ireland their re-appearance has been closely linked with the resurgence in Red Squirrel numbers, so having them back is all good.

I’m a weekend traveller, not in winter, in a small Daihatsu Hijetta. It’s 25 years old so doesn’t have warnings when the headlights are left on accidentally! That battery booster has been a godsend. Hubby has a top tip for you Louise to move those cellotex boards- use a hammer in your lower hand to hook the board underneath as it extends your arm making it easier to hold and move them- hope it helps and you are doing a cracking job 🥰

Great work and great progress! I have a NOGO boost starter battery for my van (FIAT Ducato) and it can start the van but then failed to start a 3 series BMW! I suspect the key variable is how depleted the vehicle battery is. If the vehicle battery is completely exhausted, when you connect the NOGO there is a big current draw from the vehicle battery as it start to recharge from the NOGO so that a few seconds latter, when you try to start the vehicle, there is there is very little energy left in the NOGO and the combined EMF of the battery and NOGO is insufficient to turn the engine. If my theory is correct, then completely disconnecting the vehicle battery and replacing it with the NOGO might have given you engine start. Health warning! I have not yet had a third occasion to use the NOGO so this really is theoretical at the moment.

Your pine martin is a very cute thief, there population has been slowly regrowing here in Ireland over the last couple of years, It is lovely to see one in your garden. I know that my pet Ferrett Rikki killed my parrot Lazarus. 😢 Totally my fault. Rikki was otherwise adorable and a most engaging little fellow. He ran a construction project under the fridge, stashed everything he could find underneath. He was especially fond of my socks so maybe Lou, you could leave an old pair ? Lol. They don't have to match by the way😅. I'm enjoying the build, reminds of the my younger days when I could still move. It's a joy to watch you move and do things so capably!
