Nice it looks beautiful!! One thing for next time of you ever do this again is spray it down with water for 2 or 3 days. Don't let it dry. Helps it not get cracks and chips further down the road. I did concrete for some time. The slower it cures the stronger it will be

Rad! What's the transition radius? There's this new material called concrete canvas, which a cloth/ dry cement sandwich. It may have lightweight ramp potential. I've emailed the inventor of "flexible" concrete Dr. Li at Michigan but he hasn't got back to me yet. The point is, there's new technology and we skaters can use to innovate for the future. Traditional shotcrete on rebar, as you know, is no joke. Another source for transitions, and these things are always in the trash are trampolines. They tend to be 14' or 15' diameter, so about a 7' radius. The steel is well bent and galvanized. There are ties and different T fittings made for chainlink fencing, and they're all compatible. Either spend money or time, one or the other. No super easy way to do it. Well done, as always. Thanks for your comittment and stoke, brother Z.

I absolutely love your videos and it has inspired me to clear my backyard to venture into building my own mini ramp/ skate area. One suggestion for this video. I would love to see measurements. Things like the curve of the transitions and the decisions for those etc. How many cubic yard of concrete did you need. dimensions of the ramp. height etc. All those details would be super helpful for others and also something i personally would be happy to do a Patreon donation etc for. Just like you do in some of your other DIY videos , you talk about using 10 bags of quikcrete etc.

Hey Zack! Starting to get into some more DIY and wondering if you could make a video, short, or even reply/comment on some of your most useful tools or what you would recommend beginners who are just starting to get into DIY start with (I.e. a power drill, a hammer, a measuring tape, a finishing trowel, etc.) For instance, if we were to open your ideal "toolbox" when you were just starting out DIY stuff for both cement and wood, what would it include, and when and what for would you use each tool for? Thanks so much, man... you were the only person I thought to ask who might have an answer 🙏... so hopefully that demonstrates just how much you inspire me to get involved!

Stoked for ya man! It’s a dream of mine to have a concrete mini
@Siegefya Жыл бұрын
Dude, a concrete mini is a huge commitment lol. Looking to buy a house in the next couple years, tbh I was just gonna go for a condo...as I don't mind condo living, but tbh..the more I think about it, and see videos like this, the more I want a decent skate setup at the crib...like a mini ramp, not just a small space to skate flat or a space in the driveway to skate a flatbar or box, no like something like this. This is so cool man, the ramp looks great and thanks for sharing.

I got a HUGE Quarter Pipe for Free on Facebook. It was pretty rotten in a few places. I transported it in a 15 ft trailer I have. It was hanging out, but I drove slow. I replaced the rotten boards & painted in Purple & it looks pretty good now. My father in laws camper was parked next to it & said that thing looks straight UP, I said I Agree. Within a week I could skate on it and I'm 56 yrs old....I thought there is No way I'll ever skate this, but I took baby steps & its easy now. I built a smaller quarter pipe that we use with it now, making a Half pipe...

@plznobarbarism Жыл бұрын
that looks incredible. do you have to worry about the wood rotting out from underneath? or is the rebar just strong enough to hold it all together
@SacWebDeveloper Жыл бұрын
Most likely the wood was just a frame until it cures and would be torn away after construction, but what do I know.
@jonathonaltmann4493 Жыл бұрын
That's more or less on par with a timber ramp. My question is how does the pool coping grind with the gaps across the coping, would rendering it make a difference?
@Abby-zl7xr Жыл бұрын
How did you place the coping on? I am curious. I have ten acres here and am wanting to turn my backyard, side yard and my three city blocks of front yard into a skateboard oasis 😊 And your wife must be awesome too! That's a keeper! I HAVE THE SAME OC RAMP. SO USING THE RAMP HELPED?
@OldScoolSkaterDan Жыл бұрын
I am super curious about how the inside of this ramp works. It looks like you put the cement over the old ramp. Is it hollow in the center? Did you fill in the back? This is a project I've contemplated. I have a 2ft mini that's only 8ft wide and I'd love to take it up out to 12ft but for the cost of Gatorskins I almost may as well go cement and have less maintenance in the long run. I didn't know I could put cement on an old ramp. I figured I'd have to move a lot of dirt.
@salubrioushigh2563 Жыл бұрын
This is what im kind of curious about too. From what I've also done and heard leaving wood inside a concrete build isn't advisable. Beautiful build all in all!
