Using epoxy and milled cedar, I built a one-of-a-kind door for the cabin. I also built a set of insulated shutters, and I took some time to enjoy the fall colors while I waited for the epoxy to cure.

Since the first time I happened across your channel years ago while you were still collecting timber and before your first tractor I have been awed at the quality of your work, on the cabin, stewarding the land, side builds. In every single episode you provide such intimate looks into nature and wildlife through your eye and ear for it. Always a perfect amount of both to put my mind in a Zen like place. I thank you for that.

I've spent many years watching you grow as a young man. You've endured some incredible family tragedies and my heart goes out to you. As I watched you plying your skills during this video I thought of all that your father taught you and how you are now teaching others those skills and growing more as a craftsman. Your father's legacy will live on through you. Also, we as the viewers also get to learn from you and your father. Personally I get my Canadiana from you as I drift into my senior years in the Philippines. Thank you so much. ♥

I am 78 and my husband is 84. We'll have the next birthdays in December. We got Simplisafe a couple of years ago and I installed the components quickly. What a sense of security they provide. Our children are 3 or so hours away. Neighbors are young and have small children so we are not close. I also bought a Freedom 911 bulb for the deck. There is a remote control that sets the light flashing red/blue if we call 911. This makes the house more obvious to rescuers. We feel a great deal more secure. A couple of times my husband opened a door before turning the alarm off. There is an instant response by an operator to see what we need and the police showed up at once. That's what we need to sleep better. Just unsolicited story of our experience.

I think that the shutters are a great idea and I agree that the diamond pattern on the exterior is very pleasing. The epoxy door is an amazing piece of artistry! Just WOW! My favorite part of today’s episode is the camera attached to the end of the the log where it remained during the first pass of the mill and then still attached to the plank we saw it’s perspective during another pass of the mill. Very fun!

I just met you people for the first time yesterday. I was looking for a new video that I could follow and it was the one where you and your Dad started from the ground up building the cabin. I was able to watch part of it and finished the rest of it today. I knew nothing of any of this. I was amazed how you and your Father worked so well together. When I came back to the end of that long video of you and your Dad working on the cabin I saw other videos and then I saw a sad one. Yes, your Father's passing. My condolences. After I watched that I finished watching the one of you and your Father and thought. That is so great. That is so great you and your Father got to work together and now that it is done you both can (almost done) you had the privilege of doing it together. Then as I am setting here watching all of this I see the "C" word which again I had no idea. What a story your wife had to tell and what a story you both are living. God Bless you.

This channel and you continue to amaze. We all have been watching you (sometimes with tears in our eyes) as the inspiring story of this house unfolds. But it is about so much more than a cabin. It is about a man who has dedicated himself to helping his community in his work, supported his wife in her personal trials, demonstrated patience and skill in construction, dedicated his life to his family and its legacy, as he has entertained us with eloquent videography. For me the most touching was the way you partnered with your admired and loved father and the heart wrenching way you said goodbye to him. The most amazing thing is that you did it all with a minimum of words. Unlike many cabin builders and off griders on You Tube, you have NOT retreated from the world, you have embraced it. You are demonstrating what a difference a well rounded thoughtful man can make in a balanced life model.

Unlike many other videos your posts are as artful as the craftsmanship you show in the making of things. I have been watching you since the beginning and the whole process has been like reading a great novel. The new door is stunning. I chuckled when you made the shutters...If it were me I would have just whipped up something quick. Your shutters took thought and added to the overall aesthetics of the build. As usual, at the end of your videos, I am left wanting more. Thank you for being you, and thank you to senior because though he is gone in body his essence is seen everywhere. My nephew, back in the day used to call our front door, "the tomorrow door". the door faced east, he always woke early, as he came down the stairs and looked to the door, the window reflected red. We are always so impressed with how much thought you have given things, and I was tickled when you changed the direction of the brace on the shutter, I had just said "That top one needs to go a different direction" HA, and then you changed it. we Love the Shutters for the door, and held our breaths when you were pouring, hoping those lovely floors didn't get attacked by poxy. I have said many times, you have such an amazing history there at the cabin, and tons of great video of your Dad and you together, what an amazing tribute. and add to it the knowledge he and your Mama are home and watching you carry on, and the manner in which you do (giving glory to God) will surely have a smile on their faces and in their hearts. Well done my friend, lil brother and thank you again for sharing this with all of us (PS can't close without thanking you for the video showing of the amazing colors all around you!)

I lean side to side on smoothing the epoxy. On the one side, having it plate glass clear would be quite stunning. You came up as a recommended video, likely because I watch Shawn James and his My Self Reliance channel. The idea of a door made of epoxy resin was intriguing so I watched and was not disappointed. What a neat idea! This was a really well done video and I appreciate your attention to safety with the respirator. I see folks not using PPE when they really should be and it drives me nuts. Long term consequences can absolutely happen from short term exposure. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the end result of the door and I'll be watching your channel from the start of this build to see how you got here. Thanks for sharing!

Mr outsider man I as others that have been watching your videos know that your father is a very happy spirit loving the work you are doing. I can't wait till the day comes when you finish the work on the Cabin. I pray that you stay safe up there in Canada from your friend down here in Ohio.

Those temporary doors looked better than epoxy one. Not a fan of epoxy door but like your work and videos. Keep it up.
