Dont understand how your" fine tuning" the height of those post brackets? Isnt the threaded end of bolt set in concrete? So turning the nut would be very difficult? What am i missing?

I'm very much like you, a do it alone kinda guy. So I can completely appreciate and relate to your successes and struggles. Being a solo content creator, everything takes 3 times longer simply because I have the job to do, moving the camera and thinking about the story line. So well done to you and your channel, liked and subbed!

Appreciate this a ton. Very few understand all that actually goes into filming solo work. Takes twice as long

Impressed once again, Devon! I am continuously blown away by the dedication and ingenuity you show in getting this project completed. You always seem to have a sunny disposition no matter what obstacles arise. Your success shows that perhaps dreams can still come true with a bit of hard work.

Thanks for this message. :) it's definitely not the easiest working out here but I honestly thrive in a problem solving environment where I get to build something for myself

Respect for working in the rain. The result was 100% worth it. That's one of the coolest builds with the coolest view. I would love to stay there.

How'd you figure out the angle for the decking cuts on that curve?

Awesome as usual. You should get yourself a good tarp from Tenstile, they make some great forrest friendly tents etc.

Would recommend checking the frost line of your area for digging foundation or pillars.
@devonloerop Жыл бұрын
We rarely even get frosts that penetrate into ground where we are but code says it's at 6"
@shawnbrown8550 Жыл бұрын
@@devonloerop that’s interesting. The frost line where I live in AZ is about 18” below grade. Anyways, great content.
@VenturaIT Жыл бұрын
@@shawnbrown8550 18" is the frost line there, there are a lot of potential mistakes in this overall build that could be hazardous and destructive, like these deck footings are probably not intended for such a heavy cabin with shear loads (wind loads) and a 10,000 lb snow load... they are not up to the task from my research, but I am not an engineer. For the cabin it's the equivalent of having just four 2.25 inch metal posts holding up the entire cabin alone, then on top of that the bolts are not intended to be adjusted once placed and set in the concrete, they may lose their holding strength if there is a wind that pulls it up and away or it may collapse into the concrete... probably fine, but it's not to code or to the specs of the Simpson Strong Tie deck footings. I'm not trying to rain on the parade, just trying to help make sure nobody gets hurt. monroewa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/5974/Code-Summary?bidId= www.ci.sultan.wa.us/171/Building Also the skylights are installed wrong and will probably leak and rot the wood in the future due to the flashing not being installed correctly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6XMlWOldrONjtU Again, not trying to be a downer just trying to be helpful. I love the build and his drive and work ethic. I recommend getting the important parts like the foundation checked by an engineer or the local city/county foundation inspector prior to occupation.

I really need to make a video explaining my story. Rehabbed a bunch of homes with my parents growing up, worked as a welder in high school, got a mechanical engineer degree moved to Seattle, saved all my money, still couldn't afford a normal home to invest in so I just said screw it I'll build my own

Thanks for watching! Glad you like them. I definitely do get frustrated though, the roof video was very R rated lol, but with some creative editing I spun it into a nice vid. That was one of the hardest things to do alone. 😅

You mentioned installing a bidet in the last video. Don't know if you are familiar with the youtuber Ludwig? Ever considered reaching out and collabing with him about it cause he owns or co-owns a bidet company. Would be a cool crossover since he's said he don't care as much about the money when it comes to the bidets rather he cares more about everyone having clean butt holes xD
