KEEPING THE HOPE ALIVE!!! lol Some people at times just looking for something to complain about and they surely need to watch this!! @@musicmediaproductions thanks so much for the thorough reply - I knew you’d get a kick outta this one. Pretty dang amazing what these solos really actually are. They are professional pieces of gear. Knowing how to really get the most of it - is certainly the trick. A quick way I always tell people to think about it is - imagine you have only a few pieces of rack gear but you wanna use it on a ton of instruments, well you’d have to print your rack gear sounds on the way into your daw! So this is really no different. I’ve been crazy happy with this and I really do use it a lot when I do sessions away from my home mix studio. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

So, it’s pretty much useless without the help of another DAW! I don’t know who would buy an Apollo who isn’t already using a DAW. And since it’s Mac only, why bother if Garage Band comes with every Apple device. I just bought an Apollo and I’m trying to integrate it into my hybrid setup with external synthesizers, multiple audio interfaces, and I’m still trying to figure out recording with Console. I’m confused. So, do I record directly in my DAW, or do I have to record through the Console?

I don't think I've ever used a software tuner. I didn't even know daws had them. Why don't you use regular tuners like everyone else? Am i the weird one? Haha

The software tuners are more accurate than pedal tuners. Great question though. Some pedal tuners are quite good though. The pedal tuner on my HX stomp tends to be quite accurate. Cheers, Steve

Me too man. Turns out it was actually a bug in how Mac captured the audio from screen recording. Problem is solved for all future videos. The follow up parts have it solved too. Which is good since I have the mastering chain and mixing chain in the final video. Thanks so much for watching and support! Best, Steve

At 43:16 you said you did the acoustic guitar stereo micing. Are you using two mics and recording them at the same time? Or is there a way to use one mic and have it record on two lines? Right now I am recording everything in Mono because every time I select stereo it wants me to have 2 inputs. Thanks, love the video and great song.

Sup Connor! Thanks for the kind words. I’ll end up having a follow up video cause we’ve put in some more work with the song as it gets closer to release. To answer your question - yeah - I used two mics on the acoustic. A vintage sm57 and then a wa-47. So two mic pres. I didn’t link them in stereo - I just set up two mono tracks with the respective inputs. Hope that makes sense! -Steve

Hi Steve, I have been following you through your Luna tutorials, and thanks so much for breaking things down when learning Luna. I am very much a beginner, but my question is: How do I after recording a scat track or melody on guitar, how do I play that track back so I can play along and record another guitar or keyboard track? I have learned how to record and play back, track by track. I have learned how the solo button works, but Im not understanding how you play along to the tracks you have already recorded, if that makes any sense.

You can create a new track Or if you wanna ham with the same settings. Right click & “duplicate without content” This will give you a new track. Enable that tracks input. Now you should be able to hear the new track. And then when you get playback - the other track should be playing. Cheers!

Cause logic blows ass to work in. Anything to get out of it haha truthfully. The only REAL software for making music truly, is pro tools. But that’s also an arm and a leg to get right. PT HDX… This program is like a mini PT HDX system once you utilize the ARM feature of the Apollo integration. It has some drawbacks but long term, it will be a strong competitor to PT

Hey Steve. I have an Apollo Solo, Dre Beat Headphones Wired, and a dynamic Heil the Fin mic. I am having so much trouble getting it to be in record mode so I can start working on a project with myself being able to hear everything right and have the best sound. I can’t find the answer online.

Garage band is way limited vs Luna. Secondly, console is simply a control application in lieu of physical faders and pan knobs on your Apollo. If you’re using Luna, you don’t need console, if you’re in any other daw, console is likely necessary. Unless you’re using it for literally just I/O and you monitor through your daw.

I think its really odd that Console doesn't just become part of Luna. Like, you switched to console to put your inserts in, and set them to record mode. Why can't you just do that in luna? I should be able to put in unison plugs as well as other effects, and set them to record. It seems dumb to have to still have console open in the background when using luna.

Lol it is part of it! However, my console classics sessions pack opens in console - not Luna currently. That’s the only reason I’m doing it that way at the moment. Otherwise - you’re right. You’d operate in Luna as usual. Cheers!

Just a workflow suggestion...You don’t have to use console at all with LUNA. All of what is in console is built into Luna and you can open the same presets directly in Luna. They have designed it to bypass the need to have both open. Great job otherwise with the content you are putting out. I have watched them all bud. Cheers!!!

You know this thing already as we say in music production "Less is more" My only suggestion to you is try to reduce the time of your video by only keeping the content that is must. It's a good idea to show how you were recordings track by track but don't you think it would great if you tell people the mindset behind the individual track..like why did you choose to play that riff, your feelings at the that moment, emotions that you were feeling. Thanks Rohit! This was and is the first long form video I've done, I learned a ton about what to film, what I missed, and what I could take out in the future! I'm almost done with part 2 - which highlights the vocal tracking and songwriting. That should be done soon. Then part 3 which will be focused on the mix and master, automation. that one I'll definitely be doing my best to really dive deep. great question! I'm actually surprised how often people ask me about the Audient. I think they do a great job! However, in my honest opinion - the Apollo Solo is gonna win out. 1. You get the unison tech. It is honestly downright amazing. I've worked in major studios and used the real hardware that all of the UAD plugins emulate and it's unbelievable how it recreates the real sounds. 2. The realtime monitoring with the processing is a game changer for tracking vocals 3. The technical audio specs are as good or in some cases better than the Audient. It's a close match in a few categories, but the important ones - the Solo wins out for sure. Don't take my word for it though, look up the hardware manual for both of them at the same time and side by side compare the technical specs. You'll be able to see what I'm talking about. That being said, the X factor of the Unison stuff sets the Apollo over the edge. Hope this helps, Steve

@@LuisHernandez-dy1rq Okay - so you should check out the other video I have on creating EZ drummer. To get the individual parts of the kit into their own channels in logic is via "multichannel out" feature. Which you have to enable while you're choosing the plugin from the dropdown menu. You can drag midi grooves out of EZ drummer into the timeline of Logic if that's easier for ya.

Luna currently is PC only yes. Console classics does work with PC. It has a slightly different install path. Let me know if need it. Cheers!
