In this video we shape and glue the necks, route the P90 cavities on the same angle as the neck and make the pickguards. We also mount a wraparound style bridge and a TOM bridge.

I've watched these videos many times for reference... I so appreciate the logic you employ in guitar design, jig construction and methods of execution. It all makes sense to me. I've seen all of your content and am very appreciative that you took the time to document your work to provide this instruction. Some day I'd love to take a course. But until then at least I have your videos. Thanks David!

I feel exactly the same - David's vid's are just fantastic - I wholeheartedly thank him for putting in the time and effort to make the vid's and share his skill & techniques in the making of his fine guitars. Well filmed and very easy to see what he's doing and he explains why without going on and on. Superb stuff.

I know that this is an older video, but here's a tip. When you go to peel the paper cutting template off of the MDF pick guard template, make a few passes over the paper with a heat gun. It only takes a couple of seconds, and the paper will peel right off, taking just about all of the glue with it.

Hey David, I enjoyed too much watching your videos. I couldn't stop from the moment I found the first video. I wondered if you teach how to build guitars in person at your workplace. The effort you took for making the guitar, recording the video and then uploading on KZbin will be well regarded around the world!!!! I'm from Chiapas Mexico, and I'm so interested in learning how to build guitars like you. There's a very peculiar and kind of endemic type of wood here, that is used to build marimbas, that is a kind of xylophone made by real artists; so I would like to build a guitar made of this wood. Like a tribute to my root and my homeplace. If you could come to visit, I'll gladly show you the three and the instrument. On the other hand, I'd like to ask you, how much does it costs the Deluxe model you made in this video?. Let me know where can I contact to you directly. Sincerly, Jorge. P.S. Forgive me if I made a mistake on the writing, I'm a native spanish speaker, but of course I'll improve next time.

How did you do the wire channels for your pickups? Most people drill through before they mount the neck
@awcanyoc10 жыл бұрын
What is your process for locating the stud placement for a wraparound style bridge like you used in the TV Yellow Corvette? Im assuming you used that same trapeze tailpiece to hold the strings while you positioned the bridge, but given that that bridge has the fine adjusters where it contacts the post, how did you finally decided on where the post would go? I hope that makes sense, I love your videos, very informative and enjoyable to watch. Cheers!
@FletcherHandcraftedGuitars10 жыл бұрын
Same process or you can just measure using the scale and kick the back end back by 1/16" - 1/8" depending on which bridge you use ( and how much travel adjustment you have on the bridge pieces )
@DezweenAce10 жыл бұрын
***** Through this series you've inspired me to try building a dc junior and while everything has gone relatively smoothly, like awcanyoc, I'm unsure of the bridge placement. I've gone with a wrap around bridge and I get that the low e end needs to be 1/16" -1/8" further back but I don't know if I should be drilling the hole for the mounting lug further back or drilling the holes evenly and just using the the adjustment bolt on the bridge to push one end out. Thanks for any help in advance.
@FletcherHandcraftedGuitars10 жыл бұрын
***** what bridge and scale are you using ?
@DezweenAce10 жыл бұрын
This is the bridge www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Parts/Bridges_and_Tailpieces/Electric_Guitar/Non-trem_Bridges/Adjustable_Wraparound_Bridge.html and I'm using the Gibson 24 3/4" scale. Looking at the bridge I think I should be able to just drill the holes evenly and adjust them using the bolt on the bridge nut I don't know if it'll be easier or in some way better to drill the low e hole a few millimeters further back. Again, thanks for the help.
@FletcherHandcraftedGuitars10 жыл бұрын
