Hi. I have been playing with this shaper sheet on a wee test diorama and it is good stuff....less messy than plaster bandage. I held it down with blops of glue gun.I always paint the fences before putting on to the layout, cant stand the irritating shiny plastic finish....if only they could injection mould them with a plastic that gave a matt finish!I am still track laying on my large TMD, but like you I cant wait to get stuck in about the scenic stuff! Hi Richard, I have used Shaper Sheet on some of the large hill at the far end of Lakeside and although it was very good I did find like you that it was a little awkward to manoeuvre if it was a large sheet but I think that was more down to me than the product as it was the first time I had used it but the end result I thought was very good and quick to use too. Great, informative video. ...........Graham

Outstanding work! Shame to see it go, but I know the next will be better. I can't help but feel these modelling paints are a huge con price wise, I just checked and 4floz (118ml) of Woodland Scenics is £6.50 but Daler Rowney Graduate acrylic paint is £2.95 for 120ml...I know what I will be doing when I eventually get around to building a railway!

Hi there, what actual products is the grass made of? As in by what company etc? What was the thing you stuck into the hill side at 14:16 Sorry still very new to modelling, still planning really but I've enjoyed watching your videos (even if I do have no sound for the time being!)
@Ph33nxOne9 жыл бұрын
+MrDobilina He uses various Woodland Scenics products for his ground cover. You need a static grass applicator for the longer stuff. It needs to be grounded to the surface you are applying it to so that is what he stuck into the hillside, the ground wire.

Hi Richard, the terrain looks great.......as always ......but what sort of drying time does the new product take?and how does the plaster blanket stand up to absorption from the PVA
@EverardJunction9 жыл бұрын
+Chorley Junction Drying time is dependent on temperature. In the video I left it overnight to fully cure. Once dry it coped fine with the PVA.
@wysiwygsd9 жыл бұрын
Great video as usual. I was wondering what the open time on the plaster was? 30 minutes? 15? Also, was there an advantage to the metal (?) backing of the shaper sheet when you were doing the static grass. Thanks...
@EverardJunction9 жыл бұрын
+wysiwygsd I'd say about 10 to 15 mins before the the plaster starts going off. The backing sheet certainly seemed to help with the grass application.

@EverardJunction when you installed the peco electrofrog points, in my instructions it says there is an option for cutting the two little wires that go from the sections of rail between the frog and the switch blades, did you have to do this in order to power the point with a polarity switch, or can you just leave it without cutting them? (is cutting them necessary to prevent a short?)
@EverardJunction9 жыл бұрын
+5dmc1 I left mine and all the others on the layout with them in. No problems in the 5 or so years I've used them. I think it's to prevent a short but if the switch is installed correctly a short wont happen so you should be able to leave them in.
